Chapter 1018 Go Ahead to Deceive Yourself
Ding Jiayi knew that given the miserly amount of Qiao Dongliang’s pay, he would not buy apples and good food. It must be from the Zhai family.
Since she gave birth to her, she should have her share of good food as well. Qiao Dongliang had his share of good food. It was her turn now.
Qiao Nan refused to budge from her seat. “There is no bag at home.”
“Are you refusing to bring it for me? Let me warn you. You’d better do it before I lose my temper. Right now, you can choose to give me as much as you like. When I am angry, I will take all the food at home!” Ding Jiayi could not wait to give Qiao Nan a few slaps to her face.
In the past, she hated the younger daughter. She felt that the latter ruined her happiness.
People used to say that keeping a proper distance from others would be a way to maintain a good relationship with them. However, despite not seeing the younger daughter for years, she did not feel the least happy to see her. Instead, she found her to be even more annoying and irritating.
Qiao Nan’s expression changed. Her lips quivered. “I have nothing to give you!”
Ding Jiayi sneered. She stood up suddenly as if she was getting ready to ransack the house. If she did not do anything, the wretched girl might think that she was a paper tiger.
Ding Jiayi behaved like a robber who was about to rob her place. Qiao Nan clenched her fist. “I advise you not to do that. Although I stay at this house, it does not belong to me or my dad. My father does not own the house. It is illegal for you to ransack the house and to trespass private property. You should know that the principal of Ping Cheng High School dislikes you. If you take everything from the house, I will definitely tell Dad of your deeds when he is back.”
Ding Jiayi halted because of Qiao Nan’s words.
Qiao Nan took a deep breath. “Furthermore, you and my dad have divorced. Sister stays with you while I stay with Dad. I am still your daughter, but Dad and you are no longer one family. Even if you are my mom, everything that I have does not belong to you. You do not have the right to do what you have in mind. If you dare to take anything from the house, Dad will report you to the police. By then, you will have to return everything and have to make compensation as well. If you don’t mind that at all, you can go ahead and ransack the house.”

Qiao Nan loosened her fist. “Mom, you have to bear this in mind. The four of us are no longer one family. We have gone our separate ways. Whatever that belong to Dad and I do not belong to you and sister. If you take anything from Dad and me, it is not merely taking things or stealing from us. You are robbing us.”
When they were one family, for instance, when she was in her junior high school and her mother took the money from her scholarship—although she reported to the police—her mother said that it was a misunderstanding and she was keeping the money for her. In the end, the case was closed and classified as a misunderstanding between family members.
But right now, the situation was completely different.
Her parents had a divorce. Whatever her father owned was no longer the shared properties between the couple. Her mother had no right to take them nor did she have any ownership over them.
“What if I insist on taking them?” Ding Jiayi gritted her teeth. One of them was her husband, while the other was her younger daughter. Why was it against the law to take their belongings from them?!
“I have already told you of the consequences if you take them.” Qiao Nan remained seated. She looked calmly at Ding Jiayi, not intending to stop her at all.
Ding Jiayi sneered. “You are indeed a college student. You are smart and you intend to use your wits to send your mom behind bars!”
Qiao Nan smiled coldly at Ding Jiayi. “I have to thank my parents for educating me.” If she did not do well in life, she would have wasted the second chance at life that God had given her.
No one could guarantee that Qiao Zijin would not suffer from uremia in this life. No one could tell for sure that Qiao Zijin would be rich and have the time to wait for a suitable kidney in this life.
The most important thing was that Qiao Zijin had already stated clearly that if the donor of the kidney was related by blood, the possibility of rejection would be lower.
If Qiao Zijin suffered from uremia, she would want to survive and she would want her kidney!
Qiao Nan was obviously digging at Ding Jiayi. “Are you blaming me that I did not treat you well enough?”
Ding Jiayi behaved as if she could not believe that Qiao Nan was without a conscience.
Qiao Nan had figured out that Ding Jiayi was simply a heartless and cold-blooded person. Apart from the fact that Ding Jiayi gave birth to her, she no longer felt any sense of attachment to her. She felt relieved now that she no longer needed to feel burdened. “You should know Dad’s temper. Why do you think he divorced you back then?”
She might not have the right to judge if her mother treated her well, but there were other people who could have made the judgment.
“That was because of you……” who sowed discord!
Back when she had yet to marry Qiao Dongliang and still stayed with her parents, she had a harder time than Qiao Nan. She had to do all the household chores and her parents deprived her of the chance to study or to make her mark. They treated her as a free nanny and servant.
When Qiao Nan was at the Qiao family’s residence, she was fed and dressed. She did not need to do as many household chores as she did when she was young.
Back then, she needed to feed the pigs, goats, and chickens. Qiao Nan did not need to do any of those.
At the very least, Qiao Nan could wear the hand-me-downs from Qiao Zijin, while she had to make do with the torn clothes taken from her relatives.
Compared with her, Qiao Nan had a much better life.
She disliked Qiao Nan as she did not know how to count her blessings!
“Go ahead to deceive yourself. But don’t think that Dad is a fool. He will not be swayed by a child’s words to decide on a divorce. Mom, perhaps Dad has been too good to you, and therefore, you are cunning and yet simple-minded. Bear this in mind. When a man files for divorce, it will never be due to the children.”
Ding Jiayi was shocked at how mature Qiao Nan was. “What do you mean? Are you saying that back then, your dad divorced me because he was seeing another woman?”
“Is that only what you can think of?” Qiao Nan sneered. “I may be young, but I have a mind of my own. The reason why a man takes a wife is to have a family, to have children, and for his wife to take care of him. In short, when a man marries a woman, it is so that he can lead a better life. Mom, look at what you have done all these years, and think about the few years before and after your divorce. When do you think Dad is the happiest?”
Couples divorced for many reasons. It might not be due to a third party. If the two of them could not bear living with each other, it would be the driving factor behind the divorce as well.
No man in the world would like to live the rest of his life with a woman who spent all the savings at home behind his back, watched helplessly as he died and could only cry and make a din when he was in a car accident, and created troubles such that he could not lead a peaceful life.
