  Shangguan Ning and Jing Yichen finished their wash at two separate bathrooms and went for breakfast in the dining room.

  The breakfast was a feast. Shangguan Ning forced herself to eat some food even though she didn’t feel so well.

  She needed energy to fight against the cold at work later.

  It was just half past seven and Jing Yichen was already dressed in a black suit and ready to go out. He needed to go back to Family Jing’s house before going to Jingsheng Enterprise with father Jing Zhongxiu for the meeting with all the big shareholders.

  He snatched up a grey woolen overcoat, and was about to go out of the door when he thought for a second and withdrew his steps that had already crossed over the door threshold. He had noticed, at breakfast, that Shangguan Ning seemed to have caught a cold. It seemed that last night’s medicines didn’t work for her.

  She had stood outside in the freezing air for so long in such thin clothes. It would be weird if she hadn’t caught a cold.

  He went back to the bedroom in silent steps. That startled Shangguan Ning. “Why are you still here?” Didn’t he go out just now?

  Jing Yichen looked unhappy. Did she want him to leave so badly?

  He stretched out his hand to feel her forehead in concern and ordered. “You have got a fever. You are not allowed to go anywhere today. Just stay at home and rest! Order from the kitchen, whatever it is that you wish to eat. No more food delivery!”

  “That doesn’t work! It is my first day of work and I mustn’t be absent! What if the boss gets a bad impression of me!” Shangguan Ning got anxious. She felt that she was doing well. It was nothing but a cold. She shouldn’t ignore going to work.

  Although she addressed Jing Zhongxiu as Uncle Jing, yet it didn’t mean that she could act as she pleased. Being an assistant to the President of Jingsheng Enterprise was a job everyone was dreaming of. She really cherished this opportunity which her Uncle had got for her.

  Hang on, what did he just say? Food delivery? How did he know that she had been ordering for food delivery?

  That explained it all…… if delivery company sent gifts in this way, it would have probably closed down because of bankruptcy.

  An unspeakable sense of warmth gushed into Shangguan Ning’s heart. He was able to notice even such a trivial matter. A sense of being taken care of by someone engulfed her.

  She got slightly distracted but came back to reality quickly. “Please help me find someone to unlock the door. I need to get changed.”

  “Unlocking the door is not a problem. But you mustn’t go to work today. Take some rest at home, and go back when you are completely well.” Jing Yichen was still worried. It didn’t matter if she worked or not. He was able to support her anyway.

  “Alright, alright, I will stay at home, not work. Please, get someone to unlock the door for me!” Shangguan Ning rolled her eyes and agreed instantly.

  As long as he was able to help with the unlocking, any condition would be fine. She could sneak out to work after he left. He wouldn’t know about it anyway.

  She was dressed in black professional dress suit and a sapphire blue blouse. She was wearing a pair of black six-inch high-heel, and a body-fitting plaid blouse, looking exactly like a white-collar at work.

  Shangguan Ning put on the overcoat, grabbed the bag and entered the organisation.

  In the lobby of the Mansion, two striking-looking guides were standing there. Smiles hovered over their faces when they got to know that Shangguan Ning was the new assistant to the President.

  Someone had already told them that the new assistant would start work today and that they needed to treat her well.

  But what they didn’t expect was that this new assistant would be so beautiful. Even with the most ordinary black professional suit on her, she was still able to put all the so-called beautiful girls at the Enterprise in shadow with the fresh and pure vibe that she gave out.

  Shangguan Ning thanked her politely, ignored the vaguely exploring look of the guide and went up to the 76th floor by herself.

  The entire 76th floor was simply-embellished and looked quite classical. A thin, middle aged man in suit came towards her.

  “Ms. Shangguan?”

  Shangguan Ning nodded and said smilingly. “Hi, I am Shangguan Ning. And you are?”

  “Hi, I am Lu Qing, the senior assistant to the President. I am here to hand over some important work affairs to you, and I will be your guide for two months until you are ready for the assistant work for the President. You can ask me any questions anytime.” Lu Qing looked serious and reserved.

  Shangguan Ning didn’t display a good attitude towards him either, after seeing him behave so badly.

  “Move out, it is not a place where you come and go as you wish. Don’t disturb me, I am working!”

  Ha, now she was daring to scold him and ask him to move out.

  Jing Yichen was so angry that he almost laughed!

  Alright, she was working!

  He threw a cold look at this little woman who refused to even bend down her neck, and walked out without saying a word.

  A minute later, the telephone on Shangguan Ning’s table rang. “Assistant Shangguan, the President is asking for you in his office.”

  After hanging up the phone, she adjusted her clothes and went to the office door on which “President” was written. She knocked lightly twice.

  A soft voice came from inside. “Come in!”

  Shangguan Ning pushed the door opened and said smilingly, “President, you asked for me……”

  Before she was able to finish her last word, she gasped in astonishment. The smile froze on her face.

  “Hello, Assistant Shangguan! I am Jing Yichen, the new President of Jingsheng Enterprise. From today on, you will be my assistant. Now, please state your work!”


  Chapter 48: The Bossy President Forced a Marriage Certificate

  Jing Yichen ignored her, scooped out his own ID card and flung it at her. “Read carefully. Your husband is called Jing Yichen, don’t forget about my name when we are getting our marriage certificate!”

  “What did you say?!”

  “I said…… marriage—certificate!”

  “I disapprove!”

  “Objection denied.”

  Shangguan Ning was trying hard to suppress her anger and despair in the bottom of her heart. She leaned against the seat in silence. A while later, she spoke with a hoarse voice. “I have a fever, take me to the hospital first.”

  Without even looking at her, Jing Yichen said coldly, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you go without getting the marriage certificate first.”

  She was trying to trick him again, but he wouldn’t get tricked twice.

  Shangguan Ning threw Jing Yichen’s ID card back at him disdainfully . Her teeth were tightly clenched and her head refused to bend down.

  The fever came in full fury. She was almost out of her mind. But she said what she wanted to say word by word. “I am not marrying you.”

  “No worries. Registration first. Wedding and babies can come later.”

  Shangguan Ning got so angry that she froze – who had ever said anything about babies?

  Jing Yichen stretched out his hand and felt her forehead. He drove faster, without saying any more words to irritate her.

  Shangguan Ning had already no energy left in her, to prevent him from doing anything any more. She was at his mercy, who tested her temperature in whichever way he wanted.

  They arrived at Civil Affairs Office very quickly. Tiger already had their household registration books waiting at the door.

  Jing Yichen got off the car, and walked to the other side to take Shangguan Ning down. He behaved gently but bossily as if she were his biggest treasure.

  But Shangguan Ning didn’t feel that way at all.

  She didn’t know about his real identity until today and the next second, she was forced to get a marriage certificate at the Civil Affairs Office with him. He was a robber! A demon!

  Her life was already a failure, a mess. Couldn’t she just live a simple life instead……?

  Her tears trickled down at the sight of Jing Yichen’s well-trimmed, handsome face.
