Chapter 2313 - Sand Everwhere

After I finished collecting the sand, I activated the cloaking formation over me and flew up in the air.

Even high in the air, I did not find anything other than sand which seemed to stretch forever. There was not a hint of greenery that could be seen in this wide desert; for a moment, I even doubted whether our sensors were wrong in picking up movements from the Grimms.

  Boom!

I picked up a single direction and flew toward it fast, so fast that booming sound rang out as I did. I could have muted the sound if I wanted to, including the air currents, but I did not; it is very rare that I get to do something like that.

I moved at a very fast speed, a speed of the Grandmaster. Crossing miles by seconds and only seeing the swaths of desert and the dunes of sands that would be crushed and rebuilt by the wind flying in the forest.

I seemed to have appeared in a calm place in a desert; as after flying for fifteen minutes, I have found out that dessert is not calm at all; there are powerful winds and storms are everywhere.

If a Master is somehow able to deal with the extreme heat in this place, the wind and storm will get them. These winds are strong enough to ground them into the dust while storms are powerful enough that early Grandmaster had been careful of them lest they swept inside them.

Even after flying at extremely fast speed for more than an hour, I did not see any sign of the Grimms.

Forget Grimms; I did not see any sign of any sentient species made structure or greenery, only dunes of white sand.

Though, I had noticed a slight change; that as I moved further into the west, the higher temperature I sensed. The increase is not much, seeing the sheer distance I traveled, but given the size of this ruin, it would matter a lot if I continue to travel for an hour or even days.

  Chew Chew

Five more hours passed by, and I saw nothing but dunes of sand and rising temperature when suddenly Ashlyn's chirp rang out in my mind.

Hearing her chirp, I increased my speed further, and twenty minutes later, I reached Ashlyn. I would have torn the space open and reached directly, but I had sensed a faint anomaly in the space of this ruin and decided to not risk it.

I stopped at the place Ashlyn had shown; Ashlyn had long disappeared as she did not think it much of interest, but to me, it is.

In front of me is what seemed to be a broken tower; it is in dilapidated condition, and there is nothing of value there, but it is still important. After flying for thousands of miles in this huge desert, I have finally found something that is made by sentient species.

Since I have found one, I will find another.

This thought rang true, and in the next two hours, Ashlyn and Nero had found several of the buildings.

They are in the same state as the tower, but the interesting thing is, I am finding more and more buildings further I move into the direction, and three hours later, I finally found a city which is also in a dilapidated state but it a city.

I flew over the city and even went looking around in a few buildings which seemed to be in a little better state than others.

The city helped me understand the condition of this ruin even better. The city in front of me was once a flourishing city, beyond what we have in our world, but something had brought extreme heat that destroyed nearly everything.

The heal would have been extremely, thousands of times greater than I am feeling right now to turn the material of such quality to this state. It is not the heat that done the damage; it is only primarily responsible for it, while the time had eroded the rest.

Fifteen more hours passed by, and I continued flying without seeing any trace of the Grimms or greenery throught I have founds tens of cities and hundreds of lone structure.

They have excited me first, but as I have seen more and more of them, they became bland that now even when I see a city, I simply pass through it without stopping or even slowing down.

I am feeling very bore but still being productive as my avatar is still working or rather playing with puzzles right. The clay tablet puzzle I have found in the real is beyond challenging; some of the puzzles have taken me days to solve.

Even after more than a month of getting it, I was only able to clear little more than fifty of the puzzle, which is quite frustrating but also enthralling, as those difficult challenges made my blood boil.

I need them to be a difficult challenge to me as much as possible to hone my runic knowledge. So when I go to the Hermes library, I would solve the change that is difficult beyond compare, and even after accomplishing so many things in runes, I still do not think the current me can crack that puzzle.

  "Father!"

I was in my thoughts when suddenly, Nero shouted ecstatically in my mind, and when I looked at the reason for his shout, a big bright smile couldn't help but appear on my face.

"Should I kill it, father? Please let me kill it?" Nero asked, "No, at least not now," I said too quickly before he could take any action.

Nero had just spotted the Grimm Monster, and it is not a regular Grimm Monster but a Grimm Grandmaster. This is not surprising given it is a ruin only Grandmasters could survive; for a Master to survive, they would have to remain in Grandmasters protection.

I did not waste any time and move toward the Grandmaster. It is a powerful initial level Grandmaster, which is very good news; there is something I want to test on it…… If it worked, it would make this mission a lot easier for me.
