Chapter 963 - The Ambushed Ming Du

The fragment quest was like crushing garlic chives which they could do everyday. After finishing Twilight City’s quest, Wang Yu and co. didn’t waste time as they instantly teleported to Thorn City.
Thorn City was not much different from Twilight City at this moment. Players were basically all over the streets looking for NPC.
However, there were many NPCs on the streets and only three hundred of them had quests on them. Because players from Thorn City didn’t know about the scavenging characteristic, their probability of success was far from being comparable to the Quan Zhen Sect.
Almost two hours had passed but the Fantasy Goblin BOSS had yet to appear.
The fact that the BOSS wasn’t out yet, this meant that not all three hundred quests were completed.
As compared to Thorn City’s disorganised army of players, Wang Yu and the rest were much more professional. Last night, the Quan Zhen Sect had already marked out all of the coordinates of the street NPCs.
This was so that the Quan Zhen Sect would not waste any time looking for them.
Due to the individualistic nature of each player from the Quan Zhen Sect, coupled with the fact that they were not fearful of killing the wrong person, they saved a lot of time. Their efficiency was also shocking.
Very soon, almost all the players from Thorn City realised that a mysterious squad had been going around targeting quest NPCs. Moreover, every NPC targeted by this squad were somehow all transformations of the fantasy goblin.
In an era where the network was so developed, it didn’t take long for the news to spread at the speed of lightning.
Before Wang Yu and co. could clear all of Thorn City’s quests, the news had already been spread across the entire game.
In fact, pictures and videos of everyone in Quan Zhen Sect were even posted on the forums.
In order to further exploit profits, these distributors even added passwords to the forum post. They captioned: Pay to read.
The government forum account could be bound to the gaming account so the currency was common. Pictures and other resources could be sent via a channel straight to the purchaser’s game.
It was true that players were the most creative when it boiled down to earning money.
Perhaps these fella had no idea but by earning profits using a person’s photo was against the law.
While they didn’t charge a high price (only tens of gold), the majority of the players would actually snort disdainfully at such acts. However, there would always be a small minority of players who were extremely interested in it.
One example would be the president of a big guild. Such a figure would not be lacking in such gold.
Once the forum posts were published, many presidents of the big guild would purchase these photos and send them to their guild chat.
“Everyone please take note of the people around you. If you see these people, those who can get clues out from them will be rewarded XX gold. Those who can provide their method will be rewarded XX gold. Those who can pull them to join the guild will be rewarded XX gold.”
Similar messages like these were sent throughout the various big guild chats.
The reason why so many big guilds were so obsessed was not because of how impressive the Quan Zhen Sect was. It was because of the strategy they held in their hands.
There was no need to doubt the rarity and how treasured a cape was. However, there was a sizable number of NPCs in each main city. Even if they eliminated the resident NPCs, there were still thousands of street NPCs.
By throwing only three hundred quest NPCs into this group, a player would only be able to meet one correct NPC out of every ten.
The worst part was the terrifying punishment for attacking a resident NPC. While one out of ten seemed like more probable than striking a lottery, the consequences of getting one wrong attempt was simply not worth it.
If they were able to find these legendary players, the probability of success would increase tremendously. Tens of gold were simply insignificant as compared to a cape fragment.
At this moment, the Quan Zhen Sect’s players were so busy with their own quests that they didn’t realise they had become the centre of attention of many guilds……
In one of the darker alleys in Thorn City, a fantasy goblin turned into dust by Ming Du’s [Berserk Thunder] as a cape fragment dropped to the ground.
Ming Du walked forward and just as he was about to pick up the cape fragment, an Assassin darted out from the corner of the alley. He charged directly towards Ming Du’s back.
“Sshh……”
Just as the Assassin struck Ming Du’s back, Ming Du’s body turned into flame as the Assassin was pushed directly to the wall.
“Ring of Fire?”
This Assassin had quite a decent judgement as he could instantly recognise Ming Du’s skill. He couldn’t help but feel shocked when he saw the skill.
[Ring of Fire] was an extremely rare fire defensive skill of a Magician. One could force a target near oneself to over 500 metres away.
Even though this belonged to a class of rare skills, not many Magicians learnt it. After all, a Magician sought incomparable damage output and would normally leave defensive work to others.
Of course, while it might be unconventional for such a skill to be used by other Magicians, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ming Du using it.
No matter how many people this Assassin had killed, it would never be more than the number of times Ming Du was chased after. [Ring of Fire] was merely one of many life-saving skills Ming Du possessed.
“Eh, you’re quite knowledgeable……” A calm and composed Ming Du picked up the cape fragment as he turned to the Assassin, “Shady Glow…… Which guild are you from? To think you dare to ambush me? Do you not want to live anymore?”
As Ming Du said that, he tugged his left hand and a Spear of Lightning appeared in his hand.
In a starstruck guild like Quan Zhen Sect, Ming Du might not be the strongest few. However, in terms of the level of eccentricity as well as killing motive, nobody in Quan Zhen Sect could be compared to Ming Du.
This fella found amusement in killing others when he had nothing to do on boring days. Right now, it was already a miracle that he didn’t fight back immediately after being ambushed.
This Assassin called Shady Glow naturally didn’t realise that he was already one foot into the gates of hell as he replied, “You don’t have to care which guild I am from. Tell me who you are and my guild leader will look for you.”
Ming Du sneered coldly, “Haha! Do you really think you’re worthy to talk to me in this manner? Have you not died before?”
“What about us?” Just when Ming Du finished speaking, a few more figures appeared by the corner of the alley. The narrow alley was instantly obstructed.
These fellas looked well-equipped and ready to fight. They were clearly out to get Ming Du.
The one in front was a female Warrior who looked pretty decent. However, she was holding a massive sword which was even taller than an ordinary person which made her look incredibly fearsome.
Looking at these people, Ming Du responded in a calm manner, “Oh? And who are you guys? Are you here for revenge too? Please line up at the back!”
“Too…… Revenge…… Line up?”
Hearing Ming Du’s words, everyone in the alley was dumbfounded.
How many enemies does this fella have? Line up…… He didn’t bother asking for their names so does this mean he had so many enemies he couldn’t even remember all of them?
