Chapter 165: Handsome Rewards, Early Graduation
The assessment ended not long after Ling Jiu stepped down the stage.
“According to the regulations, the top 30 contestants in this hunting competition will receive generous rewards, which are as follows.”
The host’s voice reverberated in the air.
“One Top Vitality Enhancement Fluid worth 1,000 contribution points.
“One Top Gene Arcana Enhancement Fluid worth 1,000 contribution points.
“One Deep Awakening Treasure of Heaven and Earth worth 1,000 contribution points.
“One Top Gene Arcana secret manual worth 1,000 contribution points.
“One Ultimate Dimensional Pocket worth 1,000 contribution points.
“One Ultimate cold weapon worth 1,000 contribution points.”
As the host stopped speaking, a storm was set off in the hearts of all the trainees.
A Top Vitality Enhancement fluid, a Top Gene Arcana Enhancement Fluid, a Deep Awakening Treasure of Heaven and Earth, a Top Gene Arcana Secret Manual, an Ultimate Dimensional Pocket, and an Ultimate cold weapon; all of which worth 1,000 contribution points each.
Generous. That was generous.
Bear in mind that when Ling Jiu won three consecutive first place back then, he had only received an Ultimate Gene Arcana secret manual worth 1,000 contribution points, an Ultimate Treasure of Heaven and Earth worth 1,000 contribution points, and an Ultimate Gene potion worth 1,000 contribution points. There were only three prizes.
And now there were six.
Physique enhancement.
Gene Arcana enhancement.
Deep awakening of Arcana
Gene Arcana secret techniques.
Equipment.
Weapons. ……
The six major rewards cover almost all aspects of an Arcanist. With these rewards, an Arcanist would change its strength tremendously.
“Damn! This reward is too handsome!”
“Blunder! It was a huge blunder. I should have squeezed myself into Top 30 by hook or by crook had I known there were such handsome rewards.”
\r \r \r
“I am jealous. I could increase my strength by a significant amount if I could get those rewards.”
The top 30 trainees were overjoyed while the rest could only look on with envy. They knew that there were going to be handsome rewards, but they did not expect it to be so generous.
Six major rewards.
All of which were best of the best.
Envy was written all over everyone’s face.
“The reward is quite generous, but it means nothing much to me.” Ling Jiu quietly sighed. “Maybe I can give them to Ling’er.”
“Next, all top thirty trainees, please come onto the stage to receive your rewards.”
The hunting competition officially ended after the top 30 trainees received their rewards and the camp commandants gave their closing speeches.
After that, trainees from other training camps boarded their airships and left the Australian mainland, while Ling Jiu and others from the Super Training Camp returned to the training camp base.
As soon as Ling Jiu arrived at the camp, he was summoned into the camp commandant’s office.
“Are you looking for me, Commandant?”
“You are here!”
The camp commandant looked at Ling Jiu with admiration. “Well done, Ling Jiu. You have made the training camp and me proud. Good job!”
“It’s my job.” Ling Jiu was very humble.
“Staying in the training camp is a waste of talent for you, considering your level of abilities.” The camp commandant let out a smile. “That is why I am seeing you. I want to know your opinion. Do you want to stay in the training camp, or go to the Ultimate Matriculation Camp directly?”
“I can go directly to the Ultimate Matriculation Camp?” Ling Jiu was stunned. “If I remember correctly, I am supposed to complete the training camp first before going to the Ultimate Matriculation Camp.”
He had been given a place in the matriculation camp, which was a sure thing. But that was only after successfully graduating from the training camp.
Going to the matriculation camp in advance?
Was this even possible?
“We can make an exception and let you in.”
The camp commandant smiled. “As long as you meet the requirements of the Ultimate Matriculation Camp and apply, you will usually get it. The question now is, are you willing to leave the training camp in advance and enter the Ultimate Matriculation Camp?”
“Of course, I will.” Ling Jiu nodded.
Staying back in the training camp was just following a routine path. It was a waste of time.
He was as well enter the Ultimate Matriculation Camp early and enjoyed better training and resources.
“Great! Then I will apply for you!”
The camp commandant let out a smile. “Before applying, I need to know your personal details such as your strength and the Arcanas you have mastered. You should know that although the boss has already given you early access, you still have to go through the procedure.”
“I know.”
Ling Jiu nodded. “I am currently a Level 6 Arcanist. I am capable of nine Arcanas: Earth Manipulation, Shadowform, Blink Arcana, Gravity Arcana, Tungstenform, Ten Thousoundfold Gene Arcana, Five-Element Manipulation, Dimensional Arcana, and Time Halt.”
“Nine Arcanas? Time Halt?”
The camp commandant gasped in awe upon hearing what Ling Jiu said. As much as he knew Ling Jiu well, what Ling Jiu had mastered still stunned him.
Besides the previously known Five-Element Manipulation, Blink Arcana, Tungstenform, Gravity, and Dimensional Arcanas, Ling Jiu had so many other Arcanas.
Shadowform. Ten Thousandfold Gene Arcana. Time Halt.
“Ten Thousandfold Gene Arcana? Did you replicate that from Janet?” The camp commandant looked at Ling Jiu in amazement. “And you replicated Time Halt from Hao Shuai?”
“Nothing can evade your eyes, Commandant.” Ling Jiu smiled and nodded.
“You are getting more and more perfect, kid!” The camp commandant patted Ling Jiu on the shoulder with a gratified expression. “What you have done is absolutely unprecedented. There are no two ways about it, you are going to enter the Ultimate Matriculation Camp early.”
“Thank you, Commandant.” Ling Jiu was still as humble as ever.
“The application will take a few days, during which you can stay back in the training camp or go home and wait for the news.” The camp commandant smiled. “I will inform you as soon as I get the news!”
“I am thinking of going home after coming out for so long,” Ling Jiu said after thinking for a while.
“Sure. Just give me a heads-up when you go. I will ask Jing Biao to give you a ride.”
“It is okay, Commandant. I can go back by myself!” Ling Jiu said. “I know the many dangers on the road, but I possess a Dimensional Arcana. I can avoid all dangers.”
“You are right,” the commandant said. “Just let me know when you go.”
“Sure thing, Commandant.”
“Go now.”
“Goodbye, Commandant.”
Leaving the camp commandant’s office, Ling Jiu returned to the dormitory. He heard Shi Gang’s jealous voice as soon as he stepped into the room. “Take out the rewards quickly, Ling Jiu. I am jealous of you.”
“Go to hell!”
“Hey, I am just joking, okay? Do you really think I am envious of you?”
“Humph, I have got 17 energy crystals with equally handsome rewards on the Pandora trip. When I finally digest these energy crystals, it is time to break into the Level 6 realm.”
“Then I wish all of you the best in attaining Level 6 the earliest!”
“I will!”
After talking with Shi Gang for a while, Ling Jiu dialed called Ling’er on the phone.
“Would you please come to my dorm, Ling’er?”
After a while, Ling’er arrived in Room 308. “Is there anything, Ling Jiu?”
“Let us talk out there. I have something to tell you.”
Ling Jiu took out today’s reward once they were outside the training camp.
“Take these, Ling’er.”
Chapter 166: Killing the Scaled Dragon, Mysterious Giant Egg
Ling Jiu left the training camp base and went straight to Mount Kosciuszko after handing over today’s rewards and low-level Venom Suit to Ling’er.
He was about to leave the Australian mainland, but he still had one unfinished business: finishing off his little nemesis. He could not leave in peace unless he had this fixed.
Half an hour later, he arrived at Mount Kosciuszko in that valley where he found his nemesis: the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon
“Hmph, it is still sleeping!”
In Ling Jiu’s field of vision, the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon was lying on the side of the cave, snoring away like rolling thunder, blowing two gusts of violent hurricanes from the cave at the flowers and grasses in the valley.
“Since you sleep so soundly, I might as well let you sleep for good.”
Arcana Field enveloped the entire cave as a massive gravity force came.
The terrifying gravity force fell upon the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon, crushing its cells, organs, and bodies.
The sudden increase in gravity force woke up the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon. It roared furiously, trying to get up with its four legs on the ground. But it staggered and fell back down.
Adjusting its posture, it got back to its feet and lunged out of the cave. Ling Jiu did not stop it.
“Although many of Pandora’s monsters have defenses comparable to Class 8 Direbeasts, they are far worse in other areas.”
“Monsters like the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon are the real Class 8 Direbeasts.”
The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon locked its eyes on Ling Jiu as soon as it came out of the cave. A violent fury filled its eyes.
Ling Jiu!
It is Ling Jiu again!
He has trespassed this place time after time!
He has repeatedly provoked me!
Damn it!
Damn it!
The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon roared, opening its mouth and ejecting three air streams of different colors toward Ling Jiu.
Ling Jiu performed a Blink Arcana, easily dodging the attack. As the air current hit the mountain wall, it froze, burned, and corroded the mountain surface.
\r \r \r
“Frost, flame, and acid mist; are these your three abilities? Interesting, but what a shame!”
Ling Jiu moved in a flash and appeared above the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon’s head with a 200-fold gravity force unleashed. The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon stiffened and plunged toward the valley, as if it had been frozen.
The earth cracked with a loud boom as the impact left a massive crater in the ground.
The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon wanted to look up and roar. But it quickly found that it could not even move its head. With the support of its claws, it struggled to stand up, but it was helpless against the powerful gravity.
“This is truly a Class 8 Direbeast. Its organs and tissues are still intact despite being immobilized by the two hundredfold gravity.”
Ling Jiu could not help but feel shocked. Subduing the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon with a 200-fold gravity was a terrifying feat.
A Level 7 Arcanist like Hao Shuai would bleed through his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears in a 100-fold gravity force field.
In contrast, the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon had just been immobilized, but its organs were perfectly intact.
This showed how terrifying and powerful the body of the Class 8 Direbeast was.
“Under normal circumstances, Direbeasts are physically stronger than Arcanists. Now that I can subdue a Class 8 Direbeast, I can also subdue Level 8 Arcanists.”
Ling Jiu whispered to himself as he lifted the 200-fold gravity force. The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon roared as it regained its mobility.
Before waiting for the Direbeast to attack, Ling Jiu unleased a Dimensional Shackle, keeping the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon in its place.
The Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon struggled, but it was useless. The power of Dimensional Shackle was ten times higher than previously. It could immobilize the Direbeast for two to three seconds last time, more so this time.
“With the current level of my Dimensional Shackle, immobilizing the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon for a minute or two is not a problem at all. It is long enough for me to kill it!”
Ling Jiu murmured. He lifted the Dimensional Shackle and performed a Time Halt instead.
He could do a lot of things in 30 seconds.
“Testing is over. It is time to end this.”
Ling Jiu took out the war blade. Light flashed and blood spattered as the heads of the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon were all severed and free-falling.
“What a great blade!”
Ling Jiu ran his fingers over the glossy, mirror-like blade surface that had not been tainted by a single drop of blood. It showed how sharp this blade was.
“Retrieve!”
After keeping the corpses, he came to the Divine Spring of Life in the middle of the valley. Some time ago, he had emptied the Divine Spring of Life.
Miraculously, water had filled the Divine Spring of Life again. It was crystal-clear and rich in Gene Arcana, while its surface sparkled under the sunlight.
Flowers and plants in the surroundings are still thriving, the valley the same as before.
Ling Jiu stared at the Divine Spring of Life that had been refilled, his eyes brightening up gradually. If it were a normal spring, it would not matter much whether it was refilled.
But what was this?
Spring water had condensed entirely from liquefied Gene Arcana.
It had been refilled again?
Where did the spring water come from?
Ling Jiu immediately used power from the dimension to scan the surrounding area of the Divine Spring of Life.
All hidden things came into view with the power of dimension.
This was because everything exists in the vast ocean of dimensional points.
As Ling Jiu entered the dimension, he was like jumping out of the game map and looking at things from the perspective of God. So he could see everything clearly.
In fact, Ling Jiu could also enter the Torrent of Time to observe the surrounding objects since everything is immersed in the Torrent of Time.
“This is……”
Ling Jiu’s heart skipped a beat when he saw something incredible buried deep in the earth below the Divine Spring of Life.
There was a small underground dimension. It was blood-red, and a ten-meter-high boulder stood quietly in the center of the dimension.
The boulder was oval, its surface red like blood with bright golden lines interspersed on it.
The strange thing was that this enormous boulder looks like a living thing. There was light on its surface, pulsing rhythmically as if it was breathing.
But that was not the weirdest thing. Something else frightened Ling Jiu.
He saw surging dark bio-energy descending from the void and pouring into the giant egg. It seemed like the boulder had absorbed it.
A captivating yet terrifying pressure was felt from the boulder, and it made Ling Jiu quake in his boots. It was as if he was not looking at a stone but a wild beast.
“What the hell is this?”
Ling Jiu was trembling. “This boulder seems like an egg, no matter how I look at it. It is an egg of an unknown creature.”
With fear and doubt, Ling Jiu quietly approached the giant egg and came within a hundred meters of it. He tried to perceive the information of this ‘big boulder’ with his Arcana Replication.
“If it is really a giant egg or some other life form, my Arcana Replication should be able to detect its Arcana information.”
As expected, he got something.
