Director Xi’s tone was fierce and sarcastic. “Wu Yu, did you really give your best? I can’t even make out the popular star in the play.”


  Hearing this, Wu Yu was outraged. Although she had never won an award, she was nominated for an Academy Award. Her agent had helped her win the chance to show her face in Director Xi’s film. Wu Yu knew that Director Xi came back out of retirement, so she used her connection in order to make the cut.

  Why else would she, an actress who had been nominated for an Academy Award, be paired with someone like Ye Sui?

  At this moment, Director Xi didn’t give a hoot about Wu Yu’s qualifications. He had been making movies for so many years. The actors he had seen were all cream of the crop. Wu Yu’s acting skills couldn’t even rank on the list.

  He pointed at Wu Yu with the script. “You, come here.”


  Wu Yu didn’t know what the director wanted to do, so she followed his orders. Director Xi asked her to look at the screen. He then asked the cameraman to play back what he had just shot.

  Xi Zhao was expressionless. “Keep your eyes open and watch your performance.”
