At the same time, Heaven Wind Devil Girl Xia Nishang started to attack.
A plume of cyan qi was hurtling and gathering towards the direction of the One Legged Ox King. It seemed gentle but that kind of wind blade was lethal, turning from gentle to rough at any moment, becoming exceedingly unpredictable. It was silent and unpremeditated.
“Whew!”
The sword aura was like the roar of a dragon. Heart-cleansing Sword Feng Xingyue started to show his hand again and the longsword shot out with a thin sword light that was like a web of luminance. It was continuous, dense and it engulfed the One Legged Ox Demon King from all four directions.
The four martial artists from the younger generation were top players and experts from the Snow Province. They surrounded the Demon King at the same time.
The One Legged Ox Demon King’s expression remained the same. He laughed heartily and a thick cyan demonic aura rolled out from his body. A great white skull bone appeared in his hand and it whistled with the sound of the voice as soon as it was taken out. The demonic aura was swooshing and caused everything that was in the vicinity to be obliterated. The white bone flashed, and the demonic aura wafted in the air, taking side with the four great martial arts experts.
The blind old man who was quietly sitting by the table corner of Spirit Eyes Demon King seemed to have been disturbed and was roused awake by the sounds of battle. He cocked his head to the side to hear and smiled to himself. He placed his erhu on his leg and tested the sounds before starting to perform.
The tune was clearly that which Ding Hao had played not long ago, “The Moon Over a Fountain”.
The Spirit Wood Demon King’s memory was remarkable. Hearing Ding Hao compose a song, it was instantly able to realize the quintessence of the tune. The sound of the erhu was crisp and clear when played in his hands. It was undulating, like wailing, and it was much stronger than the piece Ding Hao had played.
Plumes of transparent ripples appeared without a sound. They were like blown by the passing wind, and ripples formed on the serene surface of the lake.
Ding Hao was shocked. He felt that the sounds of the erhu were unmistakably beautiful, and surpassed all music that he had heard before. Using the word “heavenly” to describe the music was not even enough. One could not help but be immersed in that music forevermore.
Ding Hao had the impulse to get up immediately and to dance to the music.
“That’s not right!” Ding Hao was suddenly agitated, and “Mind Essence” erupted, splintering the music that had reached his ears.
In the blink of an eye, his whole being awakened and when he went to listen to the sound of the erhu again, it lacked the charisma which Ding Hao had heard the first time. Even though it was still melodious, it then failed to sway Ding Hao’s opinion.
At that time, wailing and laughter came out from outside the inscriptions of the tactical formation. Ding Hao turned his head and saw that in the crowd that was surrounding the area, there was someone who had cried loudly and who was banging his head on the floor. It was as though he had lost his parents and wife; there was also someone who had raised his head to the sky, laughing, tugging his hair and his clothes, as if he had seen the most beautiful thing in the world. What was shocking however, was that in their eyes, there was clearly the look of horror, but they had been able to control their own emotions and body; acting in such strange, terrible ways as a result.
What a superb tactic of war, by using music to subdue your opponent.
Ding Hao sighed and he was about to attack when at that moment, stern sounds of Sanskrit rang out again.
Little Buddha Lei Tingchan slowly opened her red lips. Her one hand fingered the prayer beads, and golden Sounds of Sanskrit’s characters were flowing out from her rouge-red lips like the clearest waters. They gradually covered the erhu sounds of the old blind man. In the air, the sound burst into golden colors, and similarly transformed into ripples. The Sanskrit chants collided against the black vital force of “Spirit Eyes Demon King”, and it continued to dispel the earlier force of the erhu continually. A serious divine Holy qi emanated outwards, making people feel as though their souls had been purified.
The madness effects which had affected the crowd had started to slowly be dispelled. One by one, they recovered from their state of shock and discovered that they had regained control over their bodies.
“Why are you still here? Get away!” Dao Qingcheng got up immediately, and shouted to those martial artists who had been surrounded and were looking on in curiosity. “Are you staying here to court death? As soon as the battle starts, no one will be able to protect you from it.”
Most of the onlookers had left like receding waves.
Being able to see the battle of expert martial arts was naturally a blessed thing in itself. But if you had to pay with your life for it, then it was certainly not worth it.
Anyone would have understood that at the beginning of the battle, both parties would only be testing each other out. However, at the current stage, there were already ten people who have been obliterated to dust, and when both parties started the true fire, and the Demon King appeared with the devil’s Veneration state, perhaps the damage could be done hundreds of miles away, to remain staying there would be to court death. As soon as Dao Qingcheng had finished speaking, scores of people had left.
There were only a handful of people who had felt that their skills were remarkable. They had wanted to stay on to view that battle between the expert martial artist and to gain inspiration from it, in order to reach breakthroughs in martial arts as they had reached bottlenecks.
In the blink of an eye, the small collapsed tavern had only about twenty to thirty people left. Their powers were about the level of the master realm. There were disciples from the various great sects, and some daredevil martial artists and rogue cultivators who had gotten used to risking their lives.
Ding Hao looked at that Swordsmanship-seeking Mountain disciple whose face had turned white as a sheet due to the shock, thinking and saying, “Xiao Lan, you had best leave first. If these two demons were to go berserk in an instant, even I would be unable to……”
Li Lan’s face carried a whiff of a smile, and she said, “It’s okay, I have skills of self-protection. It’s truly rare to see two influential figures from the younger generation of Snow Province fight each other in a battle, so I’m staying.”
Ding Hao saw how confident he was, so he didn’t press further. He stretched out his hand and grabbed the shoulder of that disciple from the Swordsmanship-seeking Mountain. His silhouette turned and the “Literacy” Ultimacy of “Smoke Billow Blurry” erupted. His silhouette was currently like a Dao shadow. It only blinked and had some outside of the battle, cutting through the water curtain and arriving outside of the wall of the tactical formation inscriptions.
“Many thanks to Martial Uncle.” That disciple from the Swordsmanship-sect said sheepishly. “I will notify the various Seniors from the sect.”
Ding Hao nodded his head.
In reality, the headmen and monsters of the Nine big sects had already caught wind of that battle. Since they already knew about the battle, they would surely be monitoring the battle closely and surreptitiously. Perhaps it was to borrow the experience of those two monsters fighting in order to test the sect’s juniors; or perhaps there were other forces influencing those Grandmaster Level experts—it was only when the lives of those juniors were in danger, then they would step in to intervene.
Ding Hao feared for Li Lan’s safety and instantly returned to the area of the battle.
On Li Lan’s wrist, an intricate bangle radiated a soft and warm halo, enveloping his entire being in his embrace. After leaving that battle involving Feng Xingyue and two demons as well as the others, his face was serene and he appeared very confident of himself, watching that battle intently, influenced by various big shots.
Ding Hao took a deep breath and turned to the table, sitting beside it.
He didn’t join in the battle.”
At tea time, the fighting situation became clear.
