Captain Sheng was still day dreaming after Zhang Zian hung up the phone.
A colleague walked by and saw that Captain Sheng was not acting normally. He asked, “Captain Sheng, what is going on? Are you okay? Would you like me to call your wife?”
The colleague was confused. Captain Sheng had been fine the whole day, yet he looked lost after getting a phone call.
“I am fine. I am fine.” Captain Sheng rubbed his eyes, “Hey, do you think geniuses are all strange?”
The colleague didn’t expect a question like that. He guessed it might be related to the phone call so he said carefully, “They could be.”
Captain Sheng only wanted to speak to someone about it. Now that he was done, he stood up and said, “I’ve got to go. Call my mobile if you need me.”
“No problem,” the colleague said.
Putting on his hat, Captain Sheng walked out of the office quickly.
…
After hanging up, Zhang Zian said to Fina and Old Time Tea, “I am getting some breakfast. Let’s cross the road. Be careful.”
Walking in front, he paid attention to both sides of the road and then crossed quickly. He pulled out his wallet and said, “A bowl of wonton.” He then gave Aunt Li the money for his breakfast and the amount he owed from previous meals.
Aunt Li and her husband had him sit down.
“Master Zhang, are you going out?” Aunt Li noticed he closed the curtain door. Most of the time Zhang Zian left the curtain door open when he came over to eat.
“Yeah. I have to go downtown,” Zhang Zian answered.
“Umm… taking your cats with you?” Aunt Li was surprised.
“Yeah. I am taking them,” Zhang Zian didn’t talk much.
In fact, Fina was full from its earlier meal. Now that it smelled the aroma from the wonton, it couldn’t help but turn around.
Aunt Li’s husband was quick. He could make a wonton in a few seconds, like magic.
“Oh. Does your cat want some? Should I give it some?” Aunt Li served Zhang Zian a bowl of wonton and asked.
“That’s fine. It just ate BBQ skewers. It should be full. Flour is not good for cats; they can’t digest it,” Zhang Zian poured some vinegar and hot oil in his bowl and started eating.
Staring at him, Fina turned around and stopped looking at the wontons.
Old Time Tea was walking around invisibly. It was sniffing the strange smells and looking up and down at the wall.
“Where is the cat with the special hat and the black and white kittens? Where are they? Did you leave them in the store?” Aunt Li asked as she glanced at the pet shop.
“Yeah. They are at the store,” Zhang Zian quickly finished one bowl of wonton. He felt much warmer, put down the chopsticks and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
“Master Zhang, how about another bowl? If you are going out, you might get hungry. You are young. One bowl of wonton won’t stick to your stomach for too long.” Aunt Li said.
Patting his belly, Zhang Zian said, “I know. I would’ve had another bowl but someone is taking me out to lunch. I have to save room for that.”
“Umm…” Aunt Li was speechless. She was thinking to herself that Master Zhang had to be joking.
“Okay, I have to go.” Zhang Zian stood up, “Oh, how about your new restaurant? He looked at the fruit store which was closed.
“Everything is fine,” Aunt Li smiled happily, “We are about to open. Please come!”
Zhang Zian waved them goodbye. Aunt Li’s husband waved back although he was extremely busy.
Zhang Zian stopped a taxi by the side of the road.
“Hey, may I take my cat in your car?” Zhang Zian pointed at Fina.
The driver looked in the rear mirror, “As long as it stays clean and does not pee or poop in my car. If it dirties my car, you have to clean it up.”
“That’s not a problem at all.”
Zhang Zian opened the door to the backseat and had Fina and Old Time Tea hop in. He then closed the door and sat at the passenger seat.
The driver was surprised. He asked carefully, “You don’t have to watch it in the back seat?”
“Nope. If it dirties your car, I will be accountable for it,” Zhang Zian assured.
The driver didn’t say much, “Where are you going?”
“Yuanhua Building.”
It was the weekend. Many people were still catching up some sleep. Not many cars were on the road at the moment. The taxi arrived at Yuanhua Building in no time. Zhang Zian paid, opened the back seat door and let Fina and Old Time Tea out. The driver also got out of the car and checked whether the back seat was clean.
“Grandpa Tea, what do you think?” Zhang Zian asked Old Time Tea.
It was the first time Old Time Tea rode in a vehicle. It was a new and fun experience for it. It replied, “It was good. just a little smelly.”
“That was the smell of gasoline. The taxi was old so it smells worse. The newer ones are much better,” Zhang Zian explained, “It was good that you didn’t get sick.”
Yuanhua Building was a 20-story office building. Today was a weekend so there were only a few cars in the parking lot.
Zhang Zian was looking up at the building when he heard someone calling his name.
“Mr. Zhang, I am here!”
He looked forward and saw Captain Sheng waving at him next to a police car.
“Captain Sheng, I am sorry to get you out on a weekend.”
Zhang Zian walked over to Captain Sheng as he spoke. He decided to come today because it was a weekend and there were less people in the building, so it was a great opportunity to search for clues. Also, Galaxy could play happily with less people around. The only thing was that it had to take up Captain Sheng’s weekend. Zhang Zian felt a bit sorry about it.
“That’s fine,” Captain Sheng came up. “I was working overtime in my office when you called.”
“You are so busy,” Zhang Zian replied.
When the two came close, Captain Sheng looked very welcoming and shook Zhang Zian’s hand.
When their hands met, Captain Sheng felt power come through from Zhang Zian’s hand. He could definitely feel the difference in Zhang’s hand than others. Captain Sheng had shaken hands with special police. Their hands were big and rough. Zhang Zian’s hand felt like a normal person’s yet very powerful in a way.
Captain Sheng thought to himself, “It looks like it is real that this kid knows Kung Fu.”
