Lin Nuan came downstairs and saw Tuan Tuan standing at the stairs holding Old Madam Fu’s hand.
She was wearing a white oriental cloak with black pants. Her hair was brushed impeccably. She had a slim figure, yet she appeared especially energetic. Her eyes, in particular, were alert and perceptive… just like Fu Huai’an’s.
Lin Nuan quickly guessed that she was his grandmother.
She felt uneasy meeting her in this situation, as it should have been herself and Fu Huai’an visiting the elder in advance!
Now the elder had met her without even knowing they were married… and she was in her home clothes. She felt that she had just made a bad first impression.
Lin Nuan went downstairs quickly and greeted Old Madam Fu politely. “Hello!”
She wasn’t as studious as she imagined. She held Tuan Tuan’s little hand, smiled, and nodded without sizing Lin Nuan up.
“Mama…” Tuan Tuan let go of her hand and threw himself onto Lin Nuan’s leg.
Lin Nuan leaned over and patted his little head. “Go wash your hands and change your clothes!”
“Okay!” Tuan Tuan answered loudly.
Seeing Tuan Tuan running off, Lin Nuan said to Old Madam Fu, “Huai’an is making a call upstairs—he should be down in no time. Please do have a seat first…”
Lin Nuan didn’t make an excuse to run off. Instead, she stayed back and engaged with her. Old Madam Fu nodded without saying anything.
She asked what Old Madam Fu would like to drink, and she answered that she was fine with anything. Lin Nuan didn’t want to take it lightly and made sure Auntie Li poured warm water for her since tea or jujube wasn’t ideal for her sleep.
Old Madam Fu noticed Lin Nuan’s thoughtfulness.
“I’ve heard from Auntie Li that your name is Lin Nuan?” Old Madam Fu said in an amiable tone.
Lin Nuan nodded and sat on the sofa properly.
Auntie Li poured a glass of water for Old Madam Fu and jujube tea for Lin Nuan.
As she was drinking, Old Madam Fu examined Lin Nuan’s sitting posture out of the corner of her eye. She was sitting with her legs together, facing the direction of her elder politely. She appeared composed and proper, and it didn’t look forced nor contrived. A posture like that was natural, comfortable, and pleasant to look at.
Old Madam Fu deduced that Lin Nuan must have received a noble education—and she wasn’t the Cinderella from a poor family that she worried about.
Old Madam Fu wasn’t especially concerned about wealth and status—nor did she intend to let her son marry a woman from an exceptionally wealthy background to boost their image!
She simply felt that if Fu Huai’an’s wife came from a poor origin, she would appear unsophisticated when he took her out to introduce her to other people.
The first impression of the “interview” only consisted of a sitting posture, and Old Madam Fu was relatively satisfied.
“I’ve heard from Auntie Li that you and Huai’an got married recently?” She asked, despite knowing the answer.
Lin Nuan looked up, surprised. She apologized and said, “I’m very sorry. We should have visited you first yet you’ve come to Tianfu Bay instead as an elder.”
She was quite perceptive and caught on to what Old Madam Fu was trying to imply.
Old Madam Fu smiled even more and waved her hand. “You don’t need to say things like that to your own family. I came today simply to bring Tuan Tuan over. Since you’re married already, you can call me Grandmother just like Huai’an now.”
