Fu Huai’an looked at Lin Nuan’s serious manner as she was reading and asked, “Want some coffee?”
Lin Nuan was entirely fixated on the novel, so she distractedly nodded her head.
Fu Huai’an brewed two cups of coffee.
The aromatic smell of the coffee entered her senses. Lin Nuan raised her head and saw Fu Huai’an carrying two cups of coffee over, placing one next to Lin Nuan and one opposite her.
“Still not sleeping?” Lin Nuan pushed up the spectacles on the bridge of her nose and asked.
“Have to look through some documents…”
Fu Huai’an opened his laptop opposite Lin Nuan.
For Lin Nuan to use her laptop in the kitchen, that was a habit…
Fu Huai’an had his own habit of working in his study room, but to accommodate Lin Nuan, he followed suit to the kitchen.
After setting the coffee mugs down, the pair of them sat facing each other, a laptop in front of each, no one interrupting anyone, each doing their own thing…
Fu Huai’an didn’t sleep much to begin with, and when he got busy with work, he lost all sense of time.
Time ticked by, and Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan sat facing each other until the sun began to rise…
Fu Huai’an only looked up upon hearing Lin Nuan sniff. Lin Nuan’s eyes were reddened as she took off her anti-glare glasses and set them down next to the laptop.
Fu Huai’an didn’t react, his eyes still on the screen, but he had already pushed the tissue box towards Lin Nuan. She drew a tissue and pressed it against her eyes.
Fu Huai’an heard Lin Nuan’s sniffing, which sounded like her nose was becoming increasingly blocked, and raised his head…
Seeing Lin Nuan continuing to press the tissue against her eyes, shoulders slightly heaving, Fu Huai’an couldn’t resist standing up.
He walked to Lin Nuan’s side, one hand on the back of her seat. He held Lin Nuan’s laptop mouse in the other hand and scrolled up to read the novel, wanting to know what it was that caused Lin Nuan to read with such sadness.
Fu Huai’an knew Lin Nuan wasn’t someone who cried easily, so it made Fu Huai’an all the more curious as to what kind of content made Lin Nuan cry.
Lin Nuan’s elbow barely felt the man’s warm sensation through his home clothes. She let go of the hand she held pressed to her eyes and turned her head sideways…
In her vision was the man’s tough side profile, his dark gaze focused on the laptop screen. It wasn’t known what he saw that made the corners of his lips turn up and caused his Adam’s apple to vibrate ever so slightly. Finally, he spoke with his eyes still on the screen. “You cried just reading this?”
Lin Nuan’s eyes were reddened like that of a rabbit. She sniffed, and it was obvious her nose was still awfully blocked. “Your tone tells me you’re mocking me…”
With her heavily stuffed-up voice, Fu Huai’an wouldn’t be able to make out what Lin Nuan was trying to say if he didn’t pay close attention.
His gaze turned to Lin Nuan. Seeing Lin Nuan’s reddened nose and eyes, there was a blurry gentleness in the bottom of his eyes. “You sure have a low crying point. If anyone still dares to call you a cold-blooded beauty in the future, I’ll be the first to jump out and defend your innocence!”
Fu Huai’an still remembered not too long ago, before the news of Lin Nuan heading to Iraq for Wen Moshen got exposed, she was condemned for being cold-hearted.
The teary-eyed Lin Nuan looked animated with her expression, like a darling little deer, seductive in a different way with those watery and clear eyes.
He couldn’t resist lowering his head to kiss Lin Nuan on the lips.
Lin Nuan tightened her grip on the tissue, her face and ears burning up.
With her nose blocked, she had a shortage of oxygen to begin with, so this kiss from Fu Huai’an virtually knocked all the air out of her…
She hurriedly pushed a hand against Fu Huai’an’s chest to increase the distance between them, giggly saying in her heavily muffled voice, “The snot is going to get on your face!”
“I don’t mind!” Fu Huai’an went to kiss Lin Nuan again as he spoke.
Perhaps considerate of the fact that Lin Nuan’s nose was stuffed up, Fu Huai’an kissed very gently, a gentleness that he usually didn’t display…
After gently pecking her on the lips, he let go of Lin Nuan to give her some space to breathe. Then, his hot lips pressed upon hers yet again.
It was 5 am, and the light coming through the darkness became increasingly clear.
Outside the villa, they could hear people on their morning runs, exercising their voices. Lin Nuan hurriedly turned around and saw that her laptop screen had already fallen asleep. Only then did she realize that she was in the confines of their home. With the curtains drawn, people outside couldn’t see what was going on inside at all.
Lin Nuan’s depressed feelings from reading the novel were alleviated by Fu Huai’an’s morning kiss…
The blackened laptop screen reflected Lin Nuan’s reddened eyes and oily face.
Having had no sleep at all and being seated in front of the computer for the entire night, no one would be looking great!
Lin Nuan hurriedly drew a tissue to wipe away the snot from her nose, wondering how Fu Huai’an managed to kiss her with all that snot on her face.
Lin Nuan took a sip of the coffee that had already turned cold, a bitter feeling overwhelming her senses in an instant…
“Still drinking coffee, not intending to sleep?”
“What time is it now?” asked Lin Nuan.
“Five-forty…”
Fu Huai’an’s chest was pressed against Lin Nuan’s head, so she could feel the slight vibration in his chest as he spoke.
Lin Nuan saw Fu Huai’an’s reflected image from the laptop screen. He obviously hadn’t slept a wink like her, but he still looked energetic.
Fu Huai’an shifted his large hand from the mouse and supported himself against the dining table, lowering his head and kissing the top of Lin Nuan’s head. “Wanna sleep now? I’ll carry you upstairs…”
Lin Nuan nodded. She was exhausted. “I’ll go upstairs by myself…”
Without waiting for her to protest, Fu Huai’an lifted Lin Nuan into his arms.
She circled both arms around Fu Huai’an’s neck and turned her head sideways, not wanting Fu Huai’an to see the awful way she looked after being deprived of sleep for an entire night.
Fu Huai’an carried Lin Nuan back into the bedroom. In no time, she fell deep asleep in his arms.
…
When she woke up again, it was already 11:30 am. Tuan Tuan had gone to kindergarten already.
Auntie Li told her that Tuan Tuan had bounced happily into Lin Nuan’s room this morning. Seeing the soundly asleep Lin Nuan, the little one was sweet enough not to want to wake her up. He merely cautiously pecked on Lin Nuan’s face after seeking Fu Huai’an’s approval. Only then did he leave, satisfied, for kindergarten.
Before Fu Huai’an left, he had instructed Auntie Li to prepare some food and keep it heated by 10:30 am or so, in case Lin Nuan wanted to eat something the minute she got out of bed.
Lin Nuan sat at the dining table, watching Auntie Li wipe down the kitchen as she mumbled seemingly to herself, “What time did Huai’an leave?”
Auntie Li was holding a cloth in her hand, continuously wiping the lights the entire time. “Sir left with Tuan Tuan this morning. He said he’d send Tuan Tuan to kindergarten before heading to the office!”
He hadn’t slept much either, so why was Fu Huai’an so energetic?
Lin Nuan still felt groggy after waking up at 11:30 am!
Could there be something wrong with her body constitution?
As she thought of the words “body constitution,” an image of Fu Huai’an’s sweat dripping down his muscular back when he was working out popped into mind; the muscles were full of vigor, exuding a masculine, hormonal scent.
Lin Nuan felt her exhalations getting warmer.
What was going on with her?
Why would the image of Fu Huai’an’s naked body come to mind when she thought of the words “body constitution”? Had she turned into another Fu Huai’an, whose constant thoughts revolved around that matter?
