“I was wondering why Old Master Fu suddenly told you to take the position of president after acknowledging Fu Tianci into the family. I was even thinking that he should be paying you a salary! So it turns out that he’s been up to no good and was waiting for this chance!” Lu Jinnan smiled coldly.
Fu Huai’an tapped the cigarette’s ashes into the ashtray on the coffee table, not saying anything. His expression didn’t change much.
“You should have slapped this piece of junk paper into Secretary Song’s face!” Lu Jinnan crumpled the paper into a ball and tossed it into the trash.
“Spread the news that I have the intention of leaving the Kaide Corporation!” Fu Huai’an said.
Lu Jinnan was stunned, not understanding Fu Huai’an’s words. “What do you mean?”
Fu Huai’an took a puff of the cigarette and said, “I haven’t had a day of leave all these years. I plan on taking Lin Nuan and Tuan Tuan overseas for a few days to have fun. After I leave, you take a long leave as well…”
“If both of us leave, won’t we be paving the way for the old man? Especially when it’s right before the engagement between Fu Tianci and the daughter of Pengcheng’s Mu family! Putting aside the point that we have no idea if those people will think that you’re planning to retire after gaining great success, handing the Kaide Corporation over to Fu Tianci…” Lu Jinnan frowned tightly. “When that time comes, the old man will definitely find a chance to bring in his own people!”
Fu Huai’an’s lips curled up, and he wore the calm expression of a person who was in power and wanted to let others feel in awe of him. “The moment you leave, the company won’t be able to get the recent projects. In addition to having the news that I’ll be leaving the Kaide Corporation sent out, Tang Zheng will be very busy…”
Lu Jinnan suddenly figured things out and understood what Fu Huai’an meant!
It seemed that Fu Huai’an wasn’t planning on using the same slow-paced and draggy method he had been using previously!
That was the truth. With Old Master Fu starting to grow anxious, there was no way that Fu Huai’an wouldn’t do anything and would just allow Old Master Fu to do whatever he wanted with him!
Old Master Fu had a plan, hoping that Fu Huai’an could still continue to act as president for the Kaide Corporation until Fu Tianci was ready to take over!
Lu Jinnan chuckled.
Over the past few years, the reason that the Kaide Corporation’s shares had skyrocketed might not all be attributed to Fu Huai’an, but Fu Huai’an would at least take up a large portion of it! Now that news of Fu Huai’an leaving was going to be sent out, and with the company failing to clinch the few projects on hand, the shares would definitely plunge.
If the Kaide Corporation’s situation were to go downhill, putting aside those small shareholders, wouldn’t the board of directors want to quickly get rid of the Kaide Corporation shares they had on hand?
Lu Jinnan loosened his tie and suddenly felt exalted. Having been suppressed for so many years due to Fu Huai’an’s feelings toward the Kaide Corporation, they hadn’t done anything harsh all this while.
This time around, they could finally make a move…
…
Uncle Hu drove the car into Tianfu Bay. Before they got close to the villa, he suddenly said, “Is Auntie Li quarreling with someone over there?”
Lin Nuan lifted her head, resting one hand on the front passenger seat’s backrest and looking in the direction of the villa through the windshield.
Auntie Li was standing within the villa’s gate, and the fat British Shorthair cat was sitting on top of the gate. The cat appeared very arrogant, as if it was looking down at its territory with an air of superiority.
There was a slightly plump middle-aged married lady outside the gate. She was holding onto something and saying something agitatedly. Auntie Li wasn’t to be outdone and pointed her finger at the middle-aged married lady, her lips moving very quickly. The way she acted wouldn’t lose out to the quarreling old ladies in the marketplace.
Rolling down the car window a little, Lin Nuan could hear Auntie Li shouting loudly, “It’s not as if we’re the only family with a cat in the entire estate! Why are you blaming our cat just because the fish in your yard has gone missing? There are so many wild cats about. Who asked you to be so thoughtless and leave the fish in the yard? Wouldn’t that attract wild cats? You’re the one finding trouble for yourself, and yet you’re blaming our cat!”
“You’re so stubborn and reluctant to admit your mistake! I already said that I saw your cat in our yard and came chasing after it! How dare you still say that it’s of no concern to your family!” The slightly plump middle-aged married lady was so angry that she was panting furiously, and her choice of words was inevitably not that good. “You’re clearly trying to shirk responsibility despite being in the wrong! What kind of people would bring up that kind of cat! This shows that your entire family doesn’t have a good upbringing! Lowly people! Nouveau riches!”
People who could afford to stay in Tianfu Bay—an extremely expensive place—were either wealthy or respectable people. Other than having a strong family background, those who could afford to buy from this estate would be the nouveau riches. However, the term nouveau riches had always been considered a condemning term amongst those in the upper class.
Auntie Li was furious when she heard this. She wiped her wet hands on her apron, opened the gate, and stepped out, looking as if she was going to fight it out with the other lady…
The middle-aged married lady who was holding onto the massive koi that had been half-eaten was frightened by Auntie Li’s actions and quickly took two steps back.
That fish was clearly a good quality Showa koi. Lin Nuan’s grandfather back in the Lin family enjoyed rearing koi fish, and Lin Nuan knew a little about them. It was really rare to be able to rear it to such a big size and quality.
“Who are you calling nouveau riches! Who are lowly people! Why don’t you go find out what kind of person our master is! Let me tell you, the entire Tianfu Bay was built by our master’s company! If we’re nouveau riches and lowly people… Then what would that make you!” Auntie Li wouldn’t lose out in a quarrel either.
“Our villa in Tianfu Bay was gifted to us by the Kaide Corporation’s chairman himself! So what if it was built by your master! It seems like you aren’t the owner here either! Call this cat’s owner out! I’m not going to talk to a lowly person with no upbringing like you!” The middle-aged married lady was so angry that she was heaving and puffing.
Auntie Li and the middle-aged married lady stood in the middle of the road, and Uncle Hu was unable to drive over to park the car. Lin Nuan opened the car door and called out, “Auntie Li…”
Auntie Li was just about to curse when she heard Lin Nuan calling for her. She forcibly suppressed her anger and turned to look toward Lin Nuan. “Madam, you’re back!”
When the middle-aged married lady heard that, she immediately walked over to Lin Nuan while holding onto that fish, speaking with a criticizing tone. “You’re the owner of that cat, right? Look at what your cat has done! We’ve been rearing this Showa koi for so many years that it’s like a lucky mascot in our family! It’s been bitten to death by your cat now! How do you think that we should settle this?”
Lin Nuan hadn’t expected that the middle-aged married lady would suddenly start grilling her. Auntie Li was afraid that with how Lin Nuan appeared to be weak and delicate, Lin Nuan might be bullied. She went up and stood before Lin Nuan. “You’re really not going to stop with your unreasonable pestering?”
Lin Nuan’s gaze turned toward the fat gray cat that had leaped from the gate and was running toward her with its short legs.
The fat cat seemed as if it was trying to provoke the middle-aged married lady, running up to Lin Nuan and rubbing against her ankle lazily with its eyes half-squinted. It kept on meowing and acting cute, not realizing that it had gotten into trouble.
The big fat cat was enjoying rubbing against Lin Nuan’s leg, so much so that its four legs were already facing upward with its stomach exposed, appearing as if it was feeling very comfortable.
