Chapter 538: Huo Xishen Is Not Almighty
The restaurant seemed to be rather aged as the interior decor was a little shabby. However, it was very tidy and clean.
The restaurant was by the riverside and it offered an excellent view. Dining here was indeed quite enjoyable.
Yan Jinyi looked around and couldn’t help but ask, “Why is there no one at those tables? Are you sure the food here is good?”
Huo Xishen calmly poured a cup of tea for her and said, “You’ll find out after you eat.”
Yan Jinyi looked at him with suspicion and and suddenly understood that Huo Xishen must have booked the entire place.
Soon, the lady owner whose hair was almost entirely gray came over with the menu, and looked at Huo Xishen with a benevolent smile. “Little Huo, do you want the usual?”
‘Little Huo? Huo Xishen is a regular customer here? But this place is quite far from the city!’
At this moment, the lady looked at Yan Jinyi and said, “This girl is so pretty. Little Huo, is she your girlfriend?”
Huo Xishen was very polite to the lady. He smiled and said, “She’s my wife, Yan Jinyi.”
“Your wife, I see. Wow, Little Huo, you’re married. Oh well, it makes sense. I haven’t seen you in almost three years, it’s only normal for you to be married. How about a dish of pickled vegetables and fish?” While speaking, the lady looked at Yan Jinyi again and said, “Miss, we serve the best pickled vegetables and fish, I promise you’ll be satisfied.”
Yan Jinyi was rather sick of fish. When she first took over the Black Cloud Fortress, they were extremely poor and her underlings had no choice but to go down the mountain to fish. She then had fish for several months in a row.
However, she didn’t want to dampen the spirits of the lady so she said, “Okay, we’ll have fish and pickled vegetables then.”
After they left, Yan Jinyi tugged Huo Xishen’s sleeve and asked, “This place is thousands of miles away from the city, how do you have the time to come here so often?”
Huo Xishen looked up and said, “It’s more convenient to use this route for the transportation of some goods.”
He had unintentionally chanced upon this restaurant too. He was a picky eater but he approved of the fish here.
Suddenly, the lady came over with two more fishing rods and said, “Miss, why don’t you and Little Huo go fish in the river by yourselves? The fish that you catch yourselves will definitely taste better.”
‘Fish?’
Yan Jinyi looked at the river outside, feeling a little awkward.
She had gone fishing several times before but she had never once succeeded in catching a fish.
Before Yan Jinyi could answer, Huo Xishen had already held onto her arm and stood up. “Let’s go, I want to eat the fish that you catch, Darling.”
Yan Jinyi blinked at Huo Xishen and said with a sweet smile, “I prefer catching you, Mr. Huo.”
Huo Xishen said aloofly, “Darling, we’re in the presence of an elderly couple here. Please be more reserved.”
Huo Xishen was the most boring person in the world.
Huo Xishen and Yan Jinyi used the same fishing rod under the pretext that they were trying to help him cure his abhorrence towards women.
Yan Jinyi sat on the chair with one leg crossed over the other, holding onto a bowl of fried peas and snacking on them. Huo Xishen was standing right behind her. He bent over slightly to put his arms over her neck. Clearly, the fish had taken the bait.
Yan Jinyi shoved the fried peas into her mouth and began to get anxious. She exclaimed incoherently, “Let me do it, let me. Ah, this fish must be really heavy!”
The fishing rod was bent and out of shape.
Seeing that Yan Jinyi was about to mess things up as she flailed her arms around, Huo Xishen’s handsome face turned sullen and he said, “Sit still, don’t mess this up.”
As soon as he said that, the fish suddenly broke free from the hook and fell back into the river.
“Huo Xishen, it’s all your fault!”
“Darling, you were the one who messed up.”
Yan Jinyi sulked and said with animosity, “Obey my commands next time.”
After nearly an hour of fishing, they still didn’t catch a single fish.
Yan Jinyi suddenly realized something. Huo Xishen wasn’t almighty.
‘At the very least, he doesn’t know how to fish and he’s stupider than I am!’
