Chapter 133 - The Power of Love
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t reject Song Mian’s offer to pick her up and so started packing after they settled it with a discussion.
“Xiangxiang, Brother Wei is here,” Coco knocked on the door and notified Yun Xiangxiang.
Yun Xiangxiang went downstairs after she put her clothes down and saw He Wei really sitting on the sofa.
“How do you feel after finishing filming, Madam Xi?” He Wei asked caringly.
“I feel great,” Yun Xiangxiang’s heart felt warm. She knew that He Wei was concerned about how much she could take.
The film for Madam Xi was truly finished under great pressure. If she were really a seventeen-year-old girl with no experience from her previous life, she might’ve snapped by now.
He Wei observed Yun Xiangxiang’s expression carefully. He only said after he couldn’t find any hint of strain, “I don’t want to add any pressure on you since it’s your first year in the industry.”
Yun Xiangxiang nodded. Her current level of exertion in work was really nothing. She even had so much time to learn. It was all thanks to He Wei.
“I’m trying to get the endorsement for NI.G for you, but they’re very hesitant,” He Wei interlocked his fingers. “They feel that your international clout is lacking.”
NI.G was different from MonRoe. The latter gave her a chance because of He Wei’s connection in it. But Yun Xiangxiang was able to snag the spot in the end only because they also believed in her abilities.
NI.G obviously didn’t feel it was worth it to give Yun Xiangxiang this opportunity, something that was very understandable.
Yun Xiangxiang’s portfolio was still scant, and NI.G was one of the big five in international women’s fashion.
It focused on women’s attire and expanded to include luxury bags and shoes. Its market covered the whole nation.
“Brother Wei, I remember that NI.G’s ambassador for China is Yu Jinlin,” NI.G was exclusively endorsed by Yu Jinlin these years after Yu Jinlin took the award for international best actress.
They renewed her contract three times for eight years. The contract would end this year.
Were they going to snag the meat from The Era of Stars?
This would be no small scuffle. It would aggravate the already bad relationship between the two companies.
“You scared?” He Wei asked.
Yun Xiangxiang shook her head, “I’m not scared. I just want to know what happened to prompt the company to make this decision.”
At any rate, that was a part of The Era of Stars’ resource. This would be an obvious slap in their face. There was no need to do that under normal circumstances.
NI.G wasn’t the only international luxury fashion brand in the world. Even though both companies would brook no rival, they still had to put on a show.
Someone who was as straight-edged as He Wei wouldn’t decide this kind of matter in private if it wasn’t because the company had allowed it.
“Yu Jinlin is probably spurned by The Era of Stars,” He Wei announced shockingly.
Yun Xiangxiang widened her eyes incredulously, “What is The Era of Stars doing? They even dare to spurn their pillar? Are they sick of having too much money?”
“This is their business. It won’t look good on us if we snoop around. NI.G intends to find a new spokesperson in China,” He Wei diverted the topic subtly.
Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t big on gossip either, “What do you have in mind, Brother Wei?”
“I accepted “e-one”‘s front page interview for you,” He Wei said smilingly.
“”e-one”? ” words failed Yun Xiangxiang because of shock. “If I remember correctly, only two actresses from China have appeared in “e-one” so far.”
One was an international best actress that had retired. The other was Li Man.
“e-one” was Italy’s top fashion magazine. Milan was one of the top five fashion cities in the world, as well as one of the four economic centers in Europe. “e-one”‘s international clout was understandably massive.
“It’s all thanks to Lu Jing this time,” He Wei didn’t hide anything from Yun Xiangxiang. “He’s the most popular Chinese star in Italy. You’ll have a cameo role in his sports car advertisement this time.”
“If it’s possible, I think that Brother Jing would rather give the money.” Yun Xiangxiang instantly understood how this magazine interview appeared.
It must be because of He Wei requesting this when he was discussing the sports car advertisement with Lu Jing. The ad fee was paid by the brand company, but they would naturally be more than happy if Lu Jing could save some money for them.
Lu Jing would be the main influencer in the advertisement. Yun Xiangxiang was just an extra. Her status was no more than decoration for the scene.
They still had to pay living human beings. Lu Jing had an authentic oriental face. They tried to pair Lu Jing with someone that had a western face.
However, it wasn’t in sync. The advertisement kept failing the assessment. They only considered hiring an actress with an oriental appearance since they were marketing to China.
Since the female protagonist of the advertisement had no importance, most big actresses wouldn’t accept it. The brand company wouldn’t hire a no-name actress either.
That gave an opening to Yun Xiangxiang. The brand company wouldn’t think that Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t classy enough, and Lu Jing also saved some money for them. Naturally, the ad was given to them.
In return, Lu Jing recommended Yun Xiangxiang strongly to “e-one” whom he collaborated with twice. In addition, He Wei pulled some strings during negotiations. The influence by MonRoe during the Ball of Blue Blood probably played a part too.
“e-one” decided to put Yun Xiangxiang on the cover page after a long consideration.
“It’s just a weekly magazine. Even though you are on the cover page, it’s not the full-page,” said He Wei.
Magazines were divided into weeklies, once-in-ten-days, semi-monthlies, monthlies, bimonthlies, seasonals, semiannualies, and annualies.
That meant that the updates would follow a schedule. The numbers for a weekly magazine printed would be limited, and it would only last seven days.
A full-page meant taking up an entire page. For example, a fashion magazine would include content related to fashion, such as fashion trend, mix-and-match, beauty, makeup……
Since it wasn’t a full-page, then that meant it would only take up a part of the page. It could also be a negligible part.
Simply put, it was an inconsequential investment of a smaller size. It was because Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t affect them even if she appeared. They could win favor from Huan Yu Century Entertainment as well as paying Lu Jing some respect.
Besides, if Yun Xiangxiang’s career became stellar, they would also win favor from Yun Xiangxiang.
It didn’t matter what kind of page, or issue, or even recompense they would give. It wasn’t important to Yun Xiangxiang. The most important part was that it would add value to her record to make it easier to take NI.G’s spokesperson’s vacancy.
Everyone was just getting what they needed.
“I am very satisfied now. One day, I will appear on their annual issue with my own ability,” infinite light shone from Yun Xiangxiang’s eyes.
“Great! This is how my actors should be,” He Wei clapped. He admired this kind of Yun Xiangxiang.
Before this, Yun Xiangxiang was very……to put it in internet slang, que sera sera.
She seemed to be satisfied as long as she could film. Even though He Wei didn’t force Yun Xiangxiang, he still wished that Yun Xiangxiang had the ambition and drive to go higher.
This was what he expected from Yun Xiangxiang.
Yun Xiangxiang smiled shyly. There were so many people who were paving the way for her and had high hopes for her.
It would be quite despicable of her if she kept on just going with the flow.
Besides, she already wasn’t the Yun Xiangxiang who had nothing to pursue.
She hoped that one day she would stand shoulder to shoulder with Song Mian at the top of the Milky Way one day in a state where she could proudly stand side by side with him as his partner.
Perhaps this was……
The power of love.
Love……
This was love.
A feeling where one would be willing to march forward and upward, full of energy and courage for their love.
