Chapter 232 - I Can Get Jealous Too.
Humans should walk forward as long as they live. They should know how to take things in stride if they wouldn’t harm them.
Nobody could live their life without taking a step back sometimes. No matter how powerful they could be, they still had to compromise under some circumstances.
Yun Xiangxiang never thought of it as a compromise, but rather an attitude in life.
“Are you a god, Xiangxiang?” Wei Shanshan buried her face in the blanket. She couldn’t be as calm as Yun Xiangxiang was.
If it was someone else who said this to her, she would have retorted, “You’re not the victim here. Of course, you can blabber on from your high horse.”
But this was Yun Xiangxiang. She had witnessed how calm she was in any situation.
“Life is a process to gain immortality, after all,” Yun Xiangxiang replied humorously. “With the roadblocks getting in your way as you age, you’ll start to grow and be better at being a god.”
Everyone has their springtime of youth.
Everyone’s impulsive when they are young.
Yun Xiangxiang became calm and collected thanks to society’s training.
“I used to wish I could grow up quickly and be financially independent, so I can be my own person. I couldn’t stand my mother’s nagging,” Wei Shanshan sighed. “When I finally grew up, I found out that I might be shackled when I was a kid, but at least I was free of any worries. My troubles with homework, exams, and allowances were nothing compared to adulthood.”
“We all have to grow up sooner or later. It’s a rite of passage. We won’t have any second chances, so treasure it as much as you can. You don’t want to have too many regrets when you think of your past after this.”
Yun Xiangxiang picked up her clothes, “I’ll be taking a bath.”
Wei Shanshan lay in bed, thinking of what Yun Xiangxiang said. She was starting to understand a lot of things.
She couldn’t say for sure that she would be able to follow exactly what Yun Xiangxiang advised if the same thing were to happen again, but she would try to make everyone as happy as she could.
Wei Shanshan went to the bathroom after Yun Xiangxiang. Coincidentally, Song Mian video called her. Yun Xiangxiang had calculated the timing before this.
“Why didn’t you dry your hair yet?” Yun Xiangxiang would have usually been done with that
She would tell him if she would be filming at night. He knew she went to Tengchong today to record a show.
But since the recording had not started yet, she wasn’t delayed by her work.
“Shanshan’s filming in Tengchong too. She’s having a sleepover with me tonight, and the chat took a bit longer,” Yun Xiangxiang explained.
“Are you staying in a standard room, single, or suite?” Song Mian suddenly asked.
“Standard,” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t realize why Song Mian was asking that.
“Oh,” Song Mian replied calmly.
Nothing seemed to change, but Yun Xiangxiang knew what he was thinking. They had been dating for almost a year now after all.
She was half-amused, half-annoyed, “Shanshan is a girl!”
Even if she was staying in a single room, what could happen between them even if they slept on the same bed. They were both girls.
“I’ll still be jealous,” Song Mian said matter-of-factly.
Yun Xiangxiang was speechless.
“Mr. Song, you’re getting more and more childish.”
“Only men who don’t fall in love can stay mature,” Song Mian retorted.
If it was in the past, he would have tortured anyone who dared to even suggest that he, Song Mian, had this side to him.
But now that he had fallen in love. He had someone whom he wanted to make his own.
To his chagrin, he realized that even he was capable of minor tantrums at times, becoming petty and childish.
It seemed that one particular maxim rang true again: In front of the woman they love, men will always be boys.
“There’s a bunch of guys every day when I film. You weren’t jealous about that,” Yun Xiangxiang was annoyed.
“That’s your job. I support your choice of career, and I trust you. I wouldn’t be jealous about that,” Song Mian looked like he was distinguishing between work and private life.
“Stop right there. You win,” Yun Xiangxiang thought she could debate. But whenever she fought Song Mian, she would be on the losing side.
“Here, I’ll show you something cute,” Song Mian stopped immediately. He turned the camera around to show an adorable lion cub that looked like a cat. It was licking Song Mian’s fingertips.
“It’s so cute. Where did you get such a cute cub?” Girls love cute, squishy animals. Yun Xiangxiang was no exception.
“When my team and I were out picking some plants, we saw a lioness just barely hanging on. She had three cubs around her. Since they were born not long ago, they couldn’t live in the wild. Someone’s picking them up tomorrow. They will be released back to these lands when they’re old enough,” Song Mian played with the little cubs.
The three cubs seemed to love the camera, and tried to squeeze into the screen all at once. The two on the sides squished the middle one, changing the shape of its head. Yun Xiangxiang immediately screenshotted it.
The trio of cubs seemed to be having lots of fun with the camera. They were making different expressions in front of it. Yun Xiangxiang almost couldn’t screenshot them all.
Seeing how happy she was, Song Mian didn’t interrupt her. He kept on playing with the cub, as if she was just beside him, and they were playing with them together.
Yun Xiangxiang ended the call after half an hour. Wei Shanshan had just finished bathing. She came out of the bathroom as she was wiping her hair, “Who were you talking to? That was a long call.”
The room’s soundproofing was decent. Wei Shanshan bathed with a shower, so she could only faintly hear Yun Xiangxiang talking to someone.
She asked curiously out of concern. After all, Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t someone who would talk to anyone for a long time.
“My boyfriend,” Yun Xiangxiang turned around and lay on the bed before starting to sort through the pictures.
The towel Wei Shanshan was using to wipe her hair fell to the ground. She quickly picked it up before dashing over, “What did you say?”
“You heard it right. I said – my boyfriend,” Yun Xiangxiang repeated.
“You actually have a boyfriend!” Wei Shanshan widened her eyes in shock. It wasn’t about how young Yun Xiangxiang was though.
She had a boyfriend too when she was in college. They broke up peacefully when the guy entered the industry first.
She was shocked because the actresses who were in the industry wouldn’t date at such a young age. Their agency wouldn’t allow it either.
“Does Brother Wei know about this?” Wei Shanshan probed.
“He does. Brother Wei doesn’t interfere with my private life,” Yun Xiangxiang smiled nicely at Wei Shanshan.
“Heavens, Brother Wei is such a great agent,” Wei Shanshan was envious.
“I met Brother Wei at the right time,” Yun Xiangxiang massaged Wei Shanshan’s head. “Go and dry your hair.”
Currently, He Wei had great power in Huan Yu. Thanks to that, he could give Yun Xiangxiang a bigger space.
He couldn’t give her this much space if it was a few years earlier no matter how much he valued Yun Xiangxiang.
