Chapter 268 - You’re One Heck of A Guy If You Can Marry Me Once I’m Twenty
Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t be this furious if they had waited for when she came out of the hospital before surrounding her and twisting the facts. But when she saw how they got in the way of the busy healthcare workers, Yun Xiangxiang was enraged.
As these reporters came after her, she was worried she might cause the loss of some lives.
The victims’ family members reposted Yun Xiangxiang’s post that night and commented.
[I appreciate Miss Yun Xiangxiang sending my wife and child to the hospital. The doctor said there’s a blood clot in my child’s cranium. My child could have died if it was even a moment later. I agree with what Yun Xiangxiang said. I hope the government can pay more attention toward a particular public area like the hospital.]
Song Meng sent this post to Yun Xiangxiang. Many Clouds went to console him. Yun Xiangxiang felt guilty. His wife and kid were injured because of her, but she couldn’t make this apology openly.
It wasn’t because she wanted to keep her reputation or because she was scared of accusations. It was because the police asked her to keep this case a secret.
Yun Xiangxiang could only ask Song Qian to check up on the family’s financial standing and see if they needed her anonymous donation.
“You don’t have to do that. I’ll tell the management about this. They’ll minimize their fees,” Song Mian explained when he heard what his girlfriend was asking Song Qian to do.
“Are you a national medical card?” Yun Xiangxiang was speechless. “Do you have power in every hospital?”
“Oh no, not power. I want to call that exchange of benefits. It’s pretty simple, you see.” Song Mian wrapped his arm around Yun Xiangxiang. “National medical card? You underestimate me.”
“En en en, you’re not the national medical card. You’re an international medical card. The biggest treasure I’ve picked up is you,” Yun Xiangxiang played along.
“Aww, how can my girlfriend play with me like that? Mian Mian is sad,” Song Mian sounded sad.
“Oh come one, Mr. Song Mian. Puppy face doesn’t suit you. Don’t give me those puppy eyes,” Yun Xiangxiang gave him a disdainful glance. She crossed her legs and asked, “Does that guy have a lot of helpers?”
He couldn’t set up such an elaborate trap and distract Song Qian and the healthcare workers for so long otherwise. He wouldn’t have enough time to abduct her.
“Probably someone who has mutual goals,” Song Mian poured a glass of warm water for her. When he noticed her dodging him, he looked quietly at her.
Yun Xiangxiang felt guilty. She took the glass and sipped the warm water. As with all girls, she disliked drinking warm water.
Especially with how hot Beijing was now that it was summer. Their home might be cool, but she still wanted to have something cold.
But Song Mian was a doctor. He valued treating the body like a temple the most. He loved to make her drink warm water all day.
“That’s true. He did sell a lot of the stolen jewelry,” Yun Xiangxiang nodded. He must’ve had a lot of clients.
His clients must be evil too, if they could do business with someone with blood on their hands.
“Don’t worry. He has a lot of blood on his hands. And he has stolen more than a hundred million in goods. He will be sentenced to death,” Song Mian consoled Yun Xiangxiang. “After they finish investigating those related to him, I’ll ask father to talk sense into them.”
“Huh?” Yun Xiangxiang tilted her head. “Talk sense into them?”
Song Mian smiled. There were many things hidden behind that smile. “My father is a gentleman. Gentlemen don’t fight. They talk. He loves to talk sense into people.”
The naive Yun Xiangxiang nodded, “He makes them submit with his charisma. I admire Uncle Song’s way of doing things.”
Song Mian’s smile extended to his eyes. He didn’t want to explain what ‘talk sense’ meant when he saw how naive his girlfriend looked, his father would accuse him of ruining his image in front of his future daughter-in-law.
Song Qian looked at the sky quietly. Only their family knew that their old master wouldn’t directly ‘talk sense.’ Once that happened, what awaited the enemy was total annihilation.
The ‘talk sense’ of their self-proclaimed gentleman of an old master equated to a death sentence.
“When are you leaving?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t notice anything weird. As she didn’t see Song Yao, Song Mian must have returned in a hurry.
“I’ll be with you for a day tomorrow. My departure’s on the day after that,” Song Mian had planned ahead.
“When will you be back?” Yun Xiangxiang asked again.
Song Mian felt bizarre, “It’s not the first time we are separated. Why are you concerned about my return this time?”
Was it because they were separated for too long this time? If it was, Song Mian had to consider his arrangements for long overseas work in the future.
“Don’t you celebrate your birthday?” Yun Xiangxiang questioned. “It’s only two weeks away.”
“You told me you aren’t someone who pays attention to these occasions,” Song Mian remembered what Yun Xiangxiang said to him during her birthday.
“I was referring to celebrations involving me……”
Halfway through her reply, Yun Xiangxiang knew what Song Mian was saying when she saw his bright smile. She didn’t care about special occasions involving her, but she cared about ones that involved Song Mian. The same thing probably applied to Song Mian.
“Won’t you anticipate a gift from me?” Yun Xiangxiang asked again.
“As long as I am with you, every single day is a gift.”
His voice was like the falling petals. Soft, gentle, and mesmerizingly fragrant.
“Excellent, Mr. Song. It looks like we share another thing in common.” Yun Xiangxiang wrapped her arm around his waist, not caring if Song Qian was there. “Let’s make a promise. We don’t have to celebrate other occasions, except for our birthdays. We have to celebrate that together.”
She even lifted her pinky. Song Mian made a pinky promise with her, “Sure. It’s a promise.”
“Then we will have two special days,” Yun Xiangxiang sealed the promise by touching his thumb with hers.
“Two, for now,” Song Mian emphasized. His beautiful eyes became deeper. “The most special one should be our wedding anniversary.”
Yun Xiangxiang pushed him away, “Dream on.”
“My girlfriend, I have missed seventeen of your birthdays, and you have missed twenty-seven of mine. Don’t you regret it?” Song Mian asked softly.
Yun Xiangxiang’s ears felt hot. She knew what Song Mian was going to say. She replied rigidly, “I don’t.”
“Ah, my lying girlfriend,” Song Mian said lovingly. “But I do. That is why I don’t want to miss our anniversaries too.”
“The legal age of marriage is twenty years old!” Yun Xiangxiang retorted. “You can’t marry me right after I’m born.”
“Then I shall wait for another two years. We won’t miss even one anniversary then,” Song Mian used what Yun Xiangxiang said to his advantage.
“Hmph, don’t try to tempt me, Mr. Song. You’re one heck of a guy if you can marry me once I’m twenty!”
