Chapter 349 - Borrow the Star of Peace
Yun Xiangxiang helped Song Mian clear the table after lunch, and she even did the dishes with him in the kitchen. Under Yun Xiangxiang’s insistence, Song Mian let her help.
He handed a plate to her after he was finished with one. Since Yun Lin didn’t want to face his irate father, he came here to join in the ‘fun.’
Yun Xiangxiang handed Yun Lin one plate once she was done with one, and Yun Lin put them into the disinfection cabinet.
The trio stood in a row in descending order of height, and they looked cute as they handed the plate to one another.
Su Xiuling had to take a picture. They looked like a family of three if nobody looked at them from the front.
She took it to their room and shared it with Yun Zhibin. Yun Zhibin snorted. “What do you mean they look like a family? They might have done a lot of things without us knowing about it!”
When he thought of his daughter dating a guy during Chinese New Year without him knowing, Yun Zhibin was annoyed.
“You crossed a line with that, Yun Zhibin. You cannot doubt your daughter’s personality,” Su Xiuling lectured him.
“Why are you always helping them?” Yun Zhibin was even more annoyed now. If it weren’t because of his wife always helping them, he would have flown into a rage long ago.
“She’s my daughter. Who else should I help if not her?” Su Xiuling rolled her eyes. “If I don’t help her, she wouldn’t tell me if anything happened to her. Xiangxiang had already told me that they spent the Chinese New Year together.”
“You……” Was he the only one who didn’t know about this?
“So what? Xiangxiang is your daughter, so of course, she can only tell her mother about this. You’re not Little Lin either, so do you expect her to talk to you about her and her boyfriend?” Su Xiuling was speechless.
Yun Zhibin thought that reasoning was adequate, and he started feeling forlorn. They say daughters are daddy’s little lovers, but they’re just mommy’s baby.
“You always ask me to be the bad cop,” Yun Zhibin grumbled.
“Did I ask you to be one? You wanted to be one yourself. I don’t mind you being a generous father.” Su Xiuling harrumphed and went to the living room.
When Yun Xiangxiang and the others were done with the dishes, Yun Zhibin was behind them when they came out, and he was finally not angry anymore. “Let’s go. Let’s play a couple rounds of Go,” he asked Song Mian.
Yun Xiangxiang looked at her mother gratefully, as she thought this was all thanks to Su Xiuling. Yun Zhibin got even more jealous when he noticed that look.
She took Yun Lin along, and he quickly set the table before taking the Go board and the Go pieces.
He then sat beside them, trying to learn while he watched. Su Xiuling took Yun Ting around to wash down the food and get him to take a nap.
Song Mian started strongly. His pieces surrounded Yun Zhibin’s, totally defeating him in this round.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t even dare to look at Yun Zhibin’s face, and she regretted asking this favor last night.
She didn’t expect the snack episode to appear, or else she wouldn’t be so worried.
“Another round,” Yun Zhibin started picking up the pieces.
Yun Zhibin used all his strength in the second round, and Song Mian did too.
They started going back and forth, and someone like Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t understand why they played their pieces that way and how long they played.
Yun Xiangxiang finally dozed off a bit, while Yun Lin was engrossed in it.
She stood up to make two plates of fruits and tea before putting those beside them, and she went back to her room to talk with Percy.
Since it was late night at their place, Yun Xiangxiang only sent him a message instead of calling him.
But Percy called her back ten minutes later. “Percy, you haven’t slept yet? It’s already so late.” Yun Xiangxiang was shocked.
“Oh, Yun, Austin and I are in El Dorado,” Percy sounded happy. “Thanks to you, Bhamra has decided to work with us. We just signed the contract.
So he’s in South Africa, so it should be morning now. I didn’t expect Bhamra to credit me.
He obviously stopped working with Cardi. MonRoe’s criteria satisfied him, yet he gave her all the credit.
To Austin, Bhamra could have all the collaborators he wanted, and he probably would have chosen someone else if it weren’t for Yun Xiangxiang.
Since Bhamra credited her personally, Yun Xiangxiang would take it. “We are partners, right?”
“Yes.” Percy was elated. “Did you need something from me?”
“I trust you should have seen the news about Cardi. That golden diamond belongs to me now,” Yun Xiangxiang cut to the chase. “I want to ask for your help to make it into jewelry for me.”
“Oh my God, I am so blessed.” Percy was pleasantly surprised, as the golden diamond was a world-class stone.
It would be a piece of jewelry for the generations after it was created, and the designer’s name would be written in history with this jewelry.
This was what all designers coveted, and Yun Xiangxiang’s trust in him made him excited.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t want to tell him that he was the only jewelry designer she knew, so she had no choice.
“I have another request.” Yun Xiangxiang told him she wanted to borrow The Star of Peace for her filming. “I will go to New York in September, and I will give you the diamonds then.”
“The golden diamond has the same value as The Star of Peace. If I lost The Star of Peace, then the golden diamond will be the compensation.”
It was public knowledge that the golden diamond belonged to Song Mian, so Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t take it for filming, or else she would have used the golden diamond.
“No problem, Yun. I’ll tell Austin about this.” Percy felt that Yun Xiangxiang was thoughtful.
Even if Yun Xiangxiang didn’t want to use the golden diamond as collateral, MonRoe would find it hard to reject her since they had just started collaborating with Bhamra.
But now Yun Xiangxiang showed her sincerity by giving them something of equal value in exchange, and she took out all the safety hazards.
Yun Xiangxiang must be coming here to give and take the stone, so the chance of The Star of Peace being lost is minimal.
“Hi, Yun.” Austin took the phone from Percy. “You can talk to me directly.”
“But you’re not a designer,” Yun Xiangxiang answered humorously. She wanted to tell Austin that she wasn’t asking Percy to be her spokesperson, nor was she too formal with him.
She called Percy because she needed him to help her design the jewelry. If she got Austin first, she would still have to talk to Percy in the end.
“Oh, that’s a sad fact.” Austin pretended to be dejected.
“But if it’s fine, I hope you can lend me a bunch of stones,” Yun Xiangxiang made her request.
“Flying Sky” was not the only film that would use a lot of dazzling jewelry; there was also “Soar to the Sky.”
“No problem,” Austin replied generously. “I can lend it to you with no strings attached.”
“No strings attached?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t believe him.
“Yes, but I hope you can do some promotion for me,” Austin answered honestly.
If Austin sponsored the jewels, those who would be curious about it once the film became a hit would search the brands associated with the film.
It was free publicity.
