Chapter 675 - Does It Matter Who Made the Call?
Gu Mian answered the call, “Hello?”
“Mian Mian, it’s me. What are you up to today?”
“I don’t have any plans today, but I’m feeling a bit under the weather. I’m staying home to rest.”
Gu Mian frankly did not have a shred of energy at the moment. Right then, she was as fragile as a piece of glass. If she went out, she would surely drop dead.
“Are you sick?” Su Qianxun’s brows scrunched up immediately.
“No, I’m on my period. You know I’m anemic.”
Su Qianxun heard Gu Mian’s awfully frail voice and became genuinely worried. “Then you should stay home and get some rest.”
After she hung up, Su Qianxun was still worried. She immediately called Long Sijue on the phone and asked for Tang Zui’s address……
Gu Mian put down her phone and wrapped the covers around her body a little tighter.
Tang Zui stood by the door and stared at her the entire time. At that moment, it appeared as if he had turned into a statue. The doorbell rang, and he immediately turned to answer the door.
He took the soup that the servant had brewed into the kitchen. He poured some into a bowl and carried it back to the bedroom.
He walked over to the bay window, sat down, and said, “Drink some soup. It’ll help replenish your blood.”
“Even if I drink this, I won’t be able to donate my blood for a while,” Gu Mian said flatly.
Tang Zui froze. There was tightness in his chest, and he felt like he was about to explode. “I didn’t mean that.”
“It doesn’t matter.” There was no reason for Gu Mian to keep tormenting herself. She lifted the bowl and started to drink the soup.
“Why do you have to twist the meaning behind my words? I didn’t ask the hospital to call you yesterday. I never asked the hospital to call you!” Tang Zui said. He was rather frustrated.
“Even if you didn’t make the call, the outcome was still the same. I still had to donate my blood…… Does it matter who made the call?” Gu Mian said flatly. The soup she was drinking had a strong hint of iron. She was not a fan of it.
“You……” Tang Zui felt another bout of tightness in his chest, as though someone had just punched him in the heart.
“Besides, I don’t think I’ve twisted the meaning of your words. You just want to draw my blood to save the girl you like.” There was a hint of sarcasm in Gu Mian’s voice.
Tang Zui stared at her in silence. Her face was so pale that she looked like a wraith that would vanish into thin air any second. Strangely enough, he did not know how to refute what she just said.
Gu Mian finished the soup and put the bowl away. Then, she sat still and tried to rest.
“Can’t you rest in bed? Aren’t you cold sitting here?” Tang Zui asked. He wanted to lift her up in his arms.
“Don’t touch me!” Gu Mian said coldly.
Tang Zui was stunned for a moment.
“Gu Mian, have you forgotten your place?” Tang Zui said before he lifted her up in his arms by force despite her resistance.
When Gu Mian became agitated, more blood gushed out of her private part, and her face grew paler. She could feel her head spinning.
Tang Zui placed her on the bed and put a blanket over her. “Rest in bed! I’m getting another bowl of soup!” he said.
“There’s no need for that. I’m feeling drowsy. I want to go to bed!” Gu Mian did not want to see him at all now. ‘Doesn’t he need to go to work?’
“If you want to sleep, you have to finish the soup before bed first. If you don’t, I’ll force it into your mouth. If you dare puke it out, I’ll jam a tube down your throat!” Tang Zui suddenly lost his temper and let out a thunderous bellow. If he kept stifling his frustration, he would suffer from an internal injury due to all the anger inside him.
“Heh, who says I’m not going to drink it? I value my life.” Gu Mian gazed at him with a sneer. The look in her eyes was as cold as ice.
Tang Zui stared at the look on her face. As though something got on his nerves, he suddenly went over to the bed and pinned her down to the mattress. Gu Mian was startled, and she tried to push him away anxiously. She was on her period now. If he went crazy and forced himself on her again—like that time she miscarried—she would be the one to suffer again!
