Chapter 176 - Like Mother, Like Son (1)
Duan Yarong had been very reluctant to let Zhao Youlin and Mu Tingfeng stay together alone. After all, the two shared a dark history. Who knew if the two would get into a fight later?
Even if they did not get into a fight, staying together alone like this could…
Duan Yarong was aware of Zhao Youlin’s obsession with Mu Tingfeng in the past. Although Zhao Youlin had repeatedly assured her that she would not repeat the same mistakes, who could really be sure about this, especially if it was about one’s feelings?
This was especially so when Mu Tingfeng had set up a scheme and saved her just not long ago. Ladies always had a soft spot for this kind of heroism. Who knew that Zhao Youlin might rekindle her affection for him as she nursed on his wounds?!
The more Duan Yarong thought about it, the more she realized that something was wrong. She grew increasingly restless. Even so, Mu Tingfeng’s secretary kept talking nonsense with her.
There were many times Duan Yarong had wanted to find an excuse to get into the office and take a look at them. Each time, Mu Tingfeng’s secretary wittily switched topics. Duan Yarong was so pissed off to the point that she was rendered speechless.
Whenever she wanted to burst with anger, the secretary’s smiling face and kind look forced her to swallow her anger. She knew that she should not give a piece of her mind to someone who had been nothing but friendly to her.
Just as Duan Yarong was waiting outside with Xia Zhetao indifferently, a loud shriek abruptly rang out from outside. “Where is that wench?! I want her to see me now! How dare she hurt Yifei so badly and yet have no guts to see me even once?! Are you guys trying to get in my way? How dare you get in my way?! Do you know who I am?! I’m Madam Fengzi from the Su family. I’m Minister Zhao’s wife from the technical department. Even that wench has to call me Aunt when she stands before me. Who the hell are you to stop me and get in my way? Bug off!”
Duan Yarong’s expression changed slightly when she heard the words. She quickly rose up from the couch.
At the same time, Zhao Youlin’s office door was pushed open once again. Sun Fengzi dashed in aggressively, followed by a secretary with a long face.
The secretary was truly aggrieved. His superior was not around, and his office had been broken into twice within a day. Ironically, the culprits were the mother-son pair. This family was so unreasonable.
‘Didn’t she mention she’s from a wealthy family? Why doesn’t she have even the basic upbringing of normal folk?! She just barged in! It must have been a tough life for the general manager and president to have such relatives.
Unbeknownst to Sun Fengzi, she was perceived as an unreasonable shrew in the eyes of outsiders. She did not see Zhao Youlin the moment she dashed into the office. Instead, she was greeted by the sight of Duan Yarong, and she froze.
Soon, she recovered her senses and smoothed out her clothes in place. She put on her usual sinister smile and said sarcastically, “I’ve been wondering why no one came out to take a look even though I’ve been shouting for some time outside. So, it turns out that my sister-in-law is here. It seems like that’s why a certain someone has the courage to look down on me.”
Duan Yarong was already frustrated over the fact that her daughter was alone inside with a man who had bullied her. Now, Sun Fengzi was stupid enough to have a head-on clash with her. Although Duan Yarong was a patient woman, this time, she no longer could hold back.
“You, out first,” Duan Yarong instructed the secretary. After all, a family scandal should not be spread out, even if this family scandal might have already spread through the entire company.
The secretary nodded as if he had been pardoned by the empress herself. His goal was to achieve excellence in his secretarial post and so, he naturally knew that he should not know more about certain things than he needed to.
Duan Yarong watched the secretary leave the office. Then, she a quick glance at the awkward-looking Xia Zhetao opposite her. She had initially planned to send this man out too.
However, he worked for Mu Tingfeng instead of Zhao Enterprise. She did not have the right to demand him to listen to her words and so, she had to turn a blind eye to him.
After Duan Yarong calmed herself, she looked up at Sun Fengzi and smiled faintly as she said, “What’s the hurry, my sister-in-law? Even though this is our own office, you should at least knock on the door to seek the owner’s permission before you barge in. Don’t you think it’s a bit rude to barge in just like that?”
“Rude? As an elder, I’ve been shouting for a long time out there, yet not even a single folk came out to see me. Is this what you call being polite? Moreover, who are you calling a family of yours? How can a family member be so ruthless and get Yifei admitted to the hospital twice?! I wouldn’t dare to have a family like you guys who go around stabbing people behind their backs!”
Xia Zhetao, who was standing at the side, could not help but frown when he heard Madam Fengzi’s sarcastic and mean words. He had long heard of Madam Fengzi being a haughty, shrewish, and mean woman. He was finally seeing it for himself.
No matter what, Duan Yarong was her eldest sister-in-law, how could she treat Duan Yarong so rudely? If she was already this rude, she would be even worse to his former Mrs. President. Moreover, judging from Madam Fengzi’s tone, she was here to cause trouble with the former Mrs. President.
The president and former Mrs. President were inside the small room and had knowledge about this. If he were to find out that someone came here to cause trouble to the former Mrs. President, he wondered how he would react to it.
Duan Yarong’s expression changed slightly upon hearing Sun Fengzi’s words. When she saw Sun Fengzi’s confident look, she nearly burst into laughter. She drew in several deep breaths and barely maintained her tone before she mocked her, “So, did you come here to condemn her? Have you ever asked your precious son why Zhao Youlin sent him to the hospital once again?”
Duan Yarong deliberately emphasized the words “once again”. Sun Fengzi’s expression darkened. Clearly, she recalled the incident last time when Zhao Yifei had been struck by Zhao Youlin and was admitted to the hospital. The members who held the authority of the Zhao family did not seek justice for him and caused trouble to Zhao Youlin. Instead, they had rebuked Zhao Yifei and his parents for not teaching him well.
At that moment, the grudges from the past and present flared up in Sun Fengzi. She pointed at Duan Yarong as she cussed, “What else can it be?! If not for a certain wench who can’t wait to prove herself right after she gained her position, who else? At the same time, she dared not simply lay her hands on other company staff and so, she took advantage of Yifei. If she truly is that capable, why didn’t she act so arrogantly outside the company?! Why did she have to be so mean to her own family members? Yifei is such a good boy. What wrong has he done to you guys?! I must say, there are certain people in this world who can’t stand to see anything good happen to others just because they can’t conceive a child and so, they want to destroy their families. Have you ever wondered why these people are so wicked?”
Sun Fengzi’s words were filled with sarcasm, and she also mocked others. One, she hinted that Zhao Youlin perceived Zhao Yifei as her greatest threat after she joined the Zhao Enterprise and so, she could not wait to deal with him fast so that she could be at ease later. Two, she struck Duan Yarong where it hurt by mocking Duan Yarong that she could not stand her having a precious son who had such a good personality and so, she had always plotted to harm her son. Perhaps, the incident had happened all because Duan Yarong had prodded Zhao Youlin to do so.
