Chapter 310 - The One Who Spoonfeeds (1)
One had to admit that Xiao Jingyao was very efficient at work. That afternoon, Zhao Youlin received the video clip of the meeting between Li Hongyu and her children.
It was a video clip. Although the image was clear, they could not hear the three people’s dialogues clearly.
Twenty minutes was not considered too lengthy nor brief. However, under a circumstance where they could not hear their voices clearly, and could only watch their expressions and actions, they felt extremely bored in those twenty minutes.
Zhao Youlin and Xiao Jingyao stared at the image on the screen without even blinking. They stared at the screen wide-eyed when Zhao Youming looked like he had spoken something to Zhao Youxi. After Zhao Youxi nodded, she rose up and went out.
The room was only left with Li Hongyu and Zhao Youming. Zhao Youlin’s eyes sparkled. She stared at the screen and grew increasingly serious as she watched them.
However, to their disappointment, they could only identify the slight changes in Li Hongyu’s expression, while Zhao Youming still had not shown any unusual activity in the last few minutes.
Xiao Jingyao gave up. Just when he was about to turn off the video, Zhao Youlin abruptly stopped him and shouted, “Hold on. Rewind the clip, rewind the clip!”
‘Rewind the clip?’ Xiao Jingyao’s outstretched hand froze mid-air. He did not know how to react to this.
When Zhao Youlin saw that he remained still after some time, she frowned and personally went forward to rewind the ongoing clip to the image when Zhao Youming had started to spend time alone with Li Hongyu. She watched everything that happened all over again.
With a snap, the video paused at the image where Zhao Youming held hands with Li Hongyu before he left.
Zhao Youlin returned to her original seat. She stared at the image intensely. Her body unwittingly leaned to the soft back of the chair. Her right hand subconsciously rubbed against her right earlobe.
After some time, only then the corners of Zhao Youlin’s lips gradually curled upward. She blurted out profoundly, “So, that’s how it is. My so-called younger brother is quite clever.”
“General Manager…” Xiao Jingyao’s expression darkened. He looked at Zhao Youlin, then cast another look at the paused video clip. He still could not see the entire picture from it. So, he looked puzzled.
“Still haven’t found out, huh?” Zhao Youlin raised one of her eyebrows. She stretched out her hand and pointed at her right ear. The next moment, she made a gesture of lacing her hands together.
Xiao Jingyao looked at Zhao Youlin for some time. Suddenly, he seemed to have understood something. His face turned white. “Could it be… Could it be…”
“He did it so discreetly without leaving the slightest bit of trace. We really couldn’t underestimate him.”
The thing which the person had handed over to Li Hongyu was most likely a drug in pill form. Regardless of what drug it was, since it was capable of causing a fatality, it must be a forbidden drug.
Zhao Youming had just returned to his home country from overseas, and he had even brought along this type of forbidden drug that could cause death with him. It looked like she really had to re-evaluate her so-called younger brother all over again.
“General Manager, regarding the incident…”
“That’s all for now. He had done it all too discreetly. Even if we exposed his deed, the police officer would say that all this is only our own speculation. There is no tangible evidence. Not only would this not help us much, but it would also alert him as well.”
Zhao Youlin closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. “The matter ends here. Li Hongyu is already dead. There’s no point to probe further into the issue. Besides, Zhao Youxi’s reputation is already ruined, and she has lost Zhao Shuncheng’s protection. She can’t stay long in Shalnork. As for Zhao Youming… There’s no need to be in a hurry, since he is our enemy, I believe he will reveal himself in front of us very soon.”
Xiao Jingyao’s expression changed slightly. He agreed to Zhao Youlin as he nodded his head.
The sensational news about the main culprit who had hired contract killers to attempt murder not long ago had once again become the talk of the town upon her sudden death before being given the sentence.
A series of speculation including being assassinated by the victim, suicide out of guilt, and so on and so forth poured in. After Li Hongyu died, her name had once again gained fame.
Zhao Shuncheng had already severed ties with Li Hongyu and Zhao Youxi. He naturally would not collect her body after she passed away.
Therefore, Zhao Youxi and Zhao Youming were the only members who sent Li Hongyu off on her last journey. During this period of time, Zhao Youming disappeared from time to time on the grounds that he had to handle many things since he had just returned to his home country and the Zhao family.
In the end, Zhao Youxi was basically the only one who arranged Li Hongyu’s funeral.
The spoiled young lady who had a bad temper and arrogant behavior had grown mature rapidly after experiencing the incidents of herself being humiliated and rebuked, her father’s cheating, and her mother’s death within a month.
The day after Li Hongyu’s funeral which Zhao Youxi had finished settling numbingly, Zhao Youxi boarded the plane where she would be leaving Zelford. She carried Li Hongyu’s cremains and departed from the land that could swallow her remains.
When Zhao Youxi left, Zhao Youming sent her off. He politely reminded her of a number of things that she needed to take note of.
Zhao Youxi responded to him obediently before she turned around and got on the plane.
However, unbeknownst to everyone, the moment Zhao Youxi stepped on the boarding gate, she turned her head around and cast a glance at the airport. She accurately caught sight of Zhao Youming’s back as he turned his body around and departed from her.
Her eyes had been trained to hide emotions. At that instant, a glimpse of hatred and sinisterness was caught in them. Within a blink of an eye, her gaze resumed normalcy. She held the box of cremains in her arms tightly and got into the plane without hesitation.
Zhao Youlin’s life resumed in peace following Li Hongyu’s death. The murderous malice beneath the peace was something which she could not get rid of at the current moment.
After getting rid of a great threat, Zhao Youlin finally had the energy to pay attention to the people around her. The so-called people around her were first none other than the two young ladies whom she hardly met in the office.
That day, when Zhao Youlin walked out of her office and passed over a big stack of documents which she had approved to Su He, asking her to help her to send them to the development department, she passed by Li and she instinctively paused mid-stride for a few seconds. She frowned and walked backward to Su He. She lowered her head and whispered to her, “Xiao He, have you noticed that Li seems to have gained some weight of late?”
Su He pushed the black-rimmed glasses on the bridge of her nose calmly, and said straightforwardly, “She doesn’t seem like one. In fact, she has already gained weight. Li’s face becomes rounded compared to half a month ago. However, her face is small compared to most people. She is small-sized. Therefore, even if she has gained weight, most people don’t find her fat.”
Zhao Youlin thought to herself, “Small-sized… You are just as small-sized as her. In fact, you’re of a smaller size compared to her, yet you still commented on her, don’t you think it sounds absurd?’
“General Manager, what’s wrong?” When Su He saw Zhao Youlin did not react to her after some time, she looked at her strangely. She felt uneasy, so she took the initiative and asked her.
