Chapter 706 - The Reckoning (2)
Sun Fengzi bit her lip unwillingly and suddenly pounced towards the former master, kneeling in front of him. The former master’s face was filled with anger. She grabbed the hem of his clothes and said aggrievedly, “Dad, you have to believe me. I really don’t know this girl, nor do I know what’s inside this paper bag. There must be… there must be someone out there who wants to frame me. You have to believe me, believe me. I’m your daughter-in-law. You can’t sentence me to death just because of an outsider’s word!”
The former master glanced at Sun Fengzi coldly and forcibly tugged his clothes out of her hand. “At this point, you still refuse to admit it.”
He raised his head to look at his youngest son as he spoke. He said in a deep voice, “The woman you married is most certainly capable. She bribed the servants in the house and made people put medicinal herbs that could cause miscarriage in the soup meant for your niece-in-law. Such a vicious woman…”
The former master was furious. Duan Yarong and the others who were watching from the side were shocked and quickly went forward to pat his back to soothe his anger.
The former master’s scolding had long dumbfounded Zhao Shunchang. It was only after a long time that he finally came back to his senses. He looked at An Yue’s already considerable belly in disbelief and then turned his head to look at Sun Fengzi who was not far away, he could not help but take a few steps back and said with a trembling voice, “You… you…”
Sun Fengzi quickly turned around and pounced on Zhao Shunchang.
“Shunchang, Shunchang, I was wronged. Someone deliberately set me up. You must believe me. That…” Sun Fengzi pointed at the terrified Xiao Wen not far away, “That little slut is lying. Someone paid her off. She’s lying through her teeth. You can’t believe her!”
Xiao Wen was frightened by Sun Fengzi’s increasingly ferocious face because of her nervousness. She couldn’t help but shrink back and bump into Zhao Youlin’s. She said hurriedly, “Eldest Lady, what I said is true…”
Zhao Youlin ignored her explanation and made a hand gesture at her to keep quiet. Her eyes were fixed on Sun Fengzi.
The former master had finally calmed down after a long time. When he heard Sun Fengzi’s words, he was so angry that he almost had a heart attack.
Such a thing… Such a thing had deceived his son for more than 20 years. Now, he actually planned to continue to deceive him!
Zhao Yifei frowned and glanced at Sun Fengzi who was wailing on the ground. His eyes were filled with annoyance, but he had to speak up for her. “Grandfather, is there a misunderstanding? My mother…”
The former master interrupted Zhao Yifei before he could finish his sentence. “Misunderstanding? Alright, let’s just treat this as a misunderstanding. What about the other matter?”
“The other matter?” Zhao Yifei and Zhao Shunchang were stunned at the same time. There was another matter? Sun Fengzi was also dumbfounded when she heard this. She turned to look at the former master in surprise. The old master sneered. He said confidently, “That’s right. There’s another matter. Your brilliant mother paid a group of thugs to kidnap my granddaughter-in-law. She wanted them to cause an accident so that my granddaughter-in-law would have a miscarriage! Is that a misunderstanding as well?”
Zhao Yifei and Zhao Shunchang felt as if they had been struck by lightning. Their eyes widened as they looked at Sun Fengzi, as if they were looking at a stranger.
Sun Fengzi was also frightened. It was one thing for the drug to be discovered, but that was out of the bag as well. She was really in trouble now.
“Kidnappers? What kidnappers? I would kidnap my own niece-in-law? Sir, you really know how to joke.” Sun Fengzi wanted to laugh. However, the corners of her mouth had already stiffened, and she could not smile at
all.
The former master did not want to waste his breath on her. He chuckled lightly and said, “You should save those words to the police. Your thugs have confessed. I reckon that the police will be coming over to take your statement in a while. You can also tell them that when the time comes. Let’s see if they will believe you.”
The expression on Sun Fengzi’s face was completely frozen. She no longer restrained her gaze towards An Yue and the others. It was as if a sharp blade had been dipped in poison as she shot poison daggers at them.
An Yue felt a chill run down her spine as she reflexively shifted towards Han Yichen’s direction.
Han Yichen hurriedly hugged An Yue even tighter. He looked at Sun Fengzi as if he was looking at a dead person.
Zhao Shunchang saw Sun Fengzi’s sudden change of expression, and he found the answer in his heart. He staggered back a few steps, as if it was the first time he realized that the woman he had slept with for so many years was actually such a venomous snake.
He originally thought that Sun Fengzi was just a little willful and unruly. Since she married him, he should accept her good and bad sides as one. But today, he realized that all of this was just his wishful thinking.
This woman was not as simple as merely being willful and unruly. She was a criminal that terrified him!
Zhao Yifei had long clenched his fists and his eyes were fixed on Sun Fengzi. If there weren’t so many people present, he would have gone up and strangled her with his own hands.
How could he have such a stupid mother? She bribed and attempted to kidnap people in broad daylight. Was she planning to follow in the footsteps of Zhao Youming, that little b*stard, and his mother?
Now, the truth had been exposed. If these accusations turned out true, wouldn’t she be like that son of a b*tch’s mother? Wouldn’t she be arrested and locked up? It was the end of it all!
Zhao Youlin took in every action of Sun Fengzi and her son. Her eyes flickered as she got up and walked towards the former master and the others.
She walked to Uncle Zhao first and whispered to him. “Uncle Zhao, come on. Grandfather and I might have some family matters to deal with. Help me take the others and leave. Also, take care of everyone in this house. No one is allowed to go near this living room without grandfather’s permission and mine.”
Uncle Zhao was stunned for a moment, but he quickly reacted. He nodded and left with the servants and the old doctor.
Zhao Youlin glanced at the living room. After making sure that there were no outsiders in the room, she turned around and walked to the former master’s side. She spoke in a low voice that only the two of them could hear, “Grandfather, I have something to tell you. But you have to promise me that you will remain calm. This will come as a shock.”
The former master glanced at Zhao Youlin and hesitated. After thinking for a moment, he nodded, indicating for Zhao Youlin to speak quickly.
Only then did Zhao Youlin come close to his ear and whisper a few words to him. He was already in a foul mood, but after hearing what Zhao Youlin said, it became even more unsightly.
