Chapter 32

Hua Zhu Yu’s current position was at a room on the third floor of ‘Courtyard Full of Spring’ Tea Shop. Pin the First had bought this from someone else. Although she was currently in a tea shop, she did not have time to drink tea. Her long body leaned against the window while she gazed down.
Below, it was full of people – people who had come to watch for fun.
The execution platform was still empty.
In the interval between waiting, Hua Zhu Yu re-circulated her true energy to make sure that her internal force had already recovered. The group of people below suddenly went into an uproar. Hua Zhu Yu quickly broke out of her daze. In front of the execution platform, two troops of soldiers had already cleared out the path. They all wore black robes and black armor – they were the soldiers from the capital.
Not long after the observing crowd had retreated, the Hua family generals were pulled up. Everyone of those familiar people had not long ago been allies on the battlefield, killing enemies – killing enemies for the purpose of protecting the country. Yet today, they had become traitors soon to be executed on the execution platform. The last person to be pulled up was the Marquis of Pin Xi, Hua Mu. His always tall and straight figure had become much thinner. The white prison clothes that he wore seemed a little empty. His face had multiple scars. It was probably due to inflammation of the wounds that made his face become swollen. If she hadn’t closely observed, Hua Zhu Yu almost couldn’t recognize him.
Hua Zhu Yu’s heart felt like knives. As she was pressing on the windowsill, she couldn’t help but use some energy. The wooden windowsill had be squeezed into pieces and pieces of debris kept on falling onto the ground.
She looked around at her surroundings. After having seen everything clearly, she lightly jumped out through the window and landed on the window lattice, and then jumped onto the roof. After a while, her figure appeared in the crowd of people around the execution ground.
The sunlight was very intense. It shone brightly on the swords that were going to be used of the execution. It was so bright that it seemed to blind the people’s eyes.
After a moment of silence when the prisoners had been pulled onto the execution platform, a couple people slowly walked over from the troop of soldiers. The person in the front wore a beautiful purple Yunwen uniform. A wide ink-colored belt was worn around his waist. He had a handsome face, arrow-like eyebrows and eyes like that of a ink painting. As his eyes lightly sweeped over the crowd, it seemed to have stolen many souls. He slowly walked onto the high platform with unparalleled looks and arrogance. Every movement he made seemed to highlight one word: elegance. He was like a finely grinded jade and a warm and soothing wind. No matter how barbaric a person is, in front of him, they couldn’t help but act slightly more polite.
From his clothes and from the respectful att.i.tude of the people behind him, he was indeed the Left Chancellor Ji Feng Li, Hua Zhu Yu’s former future husband.
As Hua Zhu Yu looked at him, her pair of clear black eyes – as though someone had poured ink into her eyes – grew blacker, denser, deeper like the abyss of a cold lake.
Ji Feng Li, those three words, she couldn’t help but acknowledge that they had long been carved into her mind. These days, even though it wasn’t every night, however, she would often grind her teeth as she said his name. In her heart, she had long considered him a despicable coward and a dirty thief. She had automatically rejected the rumors in the capital of him being the number one gongzi. Her mind had already outlined a blurry atrocious face for him.
(gongzi – what rich adolescent boys in ancient China are referred to as, though the literal meaning is that of a prince)
When she had saw the real person in front of her eyes, she was unable to react. When she had finally realized that that man was Ji Feng Li, she couldn’t help but think that the world was unfair. That handsome face on him was a complete misuse of a heavenly treasure. However, this type of person, no matter how good-looking they are, is only a best a false gentlemen.
However, this fake gentlemen had obviously just debuted in Liang Province. In a moment, many people’s gazes – especially women – were drawn over to him.
Hua Zhu Yu frowned deeply and calculated if she would have the opportunity to stab a knife into Ji Feng Li when she was going to save her father a while later. She had never heard that Ji Feng Li has martial arts before. It’s been said that the only reason he wasn’t included in the top 4 peerless males is because his martial arts are very poor.
A while after Ji Feng Li sat on his chair, an official of the Board of Punishments began to recite the imperial edict. When he finished reading, the time seemed to have come. Ji Feng Li lifted up the execution token from the table. Everyone nervously watched the token in his hand. No one seemed to notice the deep regret in Ji Feng Li’s eyes. The token was about to fall to the ground and the large execution swords were about to be lifted.
At that moment, the crowd suddenly began yelling. Soem of them moved towards the execution platform, while others retreated behind. It seemed like the peaceful large ocean had just been affected by rough waves. In every place, there was the sharp yelling of the people and there was even the sound of the explosions of firecrackers.
The firecrackers were something that Hua Zhu Yu had ordered the orphan army members in the crowd to prepare. The long string burned under the feet of the people. The crowd was originally just standing there, however because of this commotion, the whole execution ground turned into chaos. The soldier’s couldn’t control the situation, while the soldiers standing by the execution platform were being pushed back by the crowd.
Just at this time, Hua Zhu Yu began to move, and the orphan army members in the crowd also began to move.
Hua Zhu Yu reached out her hand, the executioner’s wrist went limp and the large sword in his hand landed on the ground. She then stepped on a person’s shoulder and – like a large bird – jumped onto the execution platform.
The plain white battle robe flitted past under the sunlight and shone with water-like l.u.s.ter. With the slight breeze, it seemed like white lotus had suddenly bloomed. Long hair flowed elegantly down while a couple strands blew around the cheeks, covering the sharp chin. There was a kind of elegance and beauty.
When she raised her head, every single person froze.
That half mask, those cold eyes, those thin lips, the beautiful and smooth jaw, and that haughty, cold, and disdainful gaze. Other than the Silver Masked Ashura, who else could this be?
