Chapter 21 Unwanted Guest 1
It was really surprising for her to hear that the two little buns had actually taken a liking to a man they barely knew. Xiao Bao and Little Star didn't usually stick to anyone, but it seemed that they're naturally attracted to Qin Jiran.
"Now that you think about it, is it really just a coincidence?" Cheng Ning also chimed in. Did Mr. Qin know beforehand that they were Tang Moyu's children?
"Regardless of how he perceives the twins, he hasn't done anything suspicious yet." Tang Moyu tried to push the thoughts away from her mind. She needed to focus on today's agenda. The only reason she allowed the twins to stay with Qin Jiran a little longer was for her to not get distracted for today.
"By the way, what brings you here, Meili? I thought we're meeting up tonight?" She asked her friend.
"En, I know we agreed to meet tonight but I want to give you this." Li Meili handed a thin folder to Tang Moyu.
Tang Moyu took it and scanned the contents briefly before her gaze returned to Li Meili.
"This… Meili… you really don't need to do this." She sighed and brought down the list of connections Li Meili managed to gather last night.
"Do what? I know you didn't want to be here. You also don't want the twins to be subjected to other people's schemes. Do you know how Xing Yiyue reacted when she heard that you came back? It was a sight to behold." Li Meili chuckled.
She attended a party last night, which was also attended by respectable wives of the businessmen within Shenzhen. The moment one of the women asked her about Tang Moyu's return, Li Meili specifically took a glance at Xing Yiyue, hiding her smirk behind her wine glass. It was apparent that this woman still thought of Tang Moyu's existence as a threat.
Li Meili couldn't blame Xing Yiyue at all. After all, following Tang Moyu's banishment, even when Xing Yiyue managed to secure her position as Young Madam Feng, she was consistently being compared to the fallen empress. Who would want to live in the shadow of their love rival?
"Why would I care about what Xing Yiyue thinks of me? She's nothing to me." Tang Moyu pushed herself up and pulled on her business coat. "I appreciate your effort, Meili. I'll consider attending the party with you next time."
Li Meili clapped her hand in glee. Now that they were back, she would make sure to help Tang Moyu give those people who bullied her a good slap!
"Great. Don't worry about what you're going to wear, I'll take care of it."
"Do as you wish." The fallen empress said before leaving with her assistant. There was another battle she had to face alone today.
Meanwhile, her two little buns have woken up and found their Uncle Ji in the kitchen, preparing their breakfast. Auntie Lu also arrived on time to tend to the twins.
Little Star rubbed her eyes and yawned big before settling on the seat next to her twin brother.
"Where's my Mommy?" She asked sleepily.
"Your Mommy left early but she promised to fetch you later." Feng Tianyi answered her.
He would be spending his whole day with this pair of naughty twins while waiting for Song Fengyan to bring him a replacement laptop for his work. It might take some time before he could know if he would be able to retrieve his files from his old one.
Who knows maybe lady luck would be on his side and he wouldn't need to rewrite everything from scratch.
After their breakfast, with Auntie Lu's assistance, Feng Tianyi brought the children to the local park where they could play. If there's something about children that he was actually sure of, it was that they had an unlimited source of energy that would need to be burned by some rigorous activities.
The twins followed him like obedient puppies, wagging their tails for his compliment. They only took a short break for lunch at a nearby restaurant before bringing them with him to shop for groceries.
Within the bustling crowd at the supermarket, Auntie Lu pushed the cart for them while the two little buns looked around, amazed at what they were seeing. They've never experienced shopping before and it was the first time they'd been into a supermarket.
Feng Tianyi had just placed the premium cuts of meat into their cart when he noticed that the twins were nowhere in sight. His lips curled up when he spotted them in the aisle where the toy section was situated. In the end, they were still kids who were easily attracted to colorful toys.
He wheeled himself towards them after passing the grocery list to Auntie Lu to get the remaining items. His ears picked up the murmurs between the little buns and his brow rose with confusion.
