Chapter 70 Preheat the Oven With a Breadstick 2
He was greeted by the sight of a scowling Song Fengyan while He Lianchen calmly sipped the tea Auntie Lu had served for them earlier.
"Tianyi, your publisher is already asking when you'll be done with your next book. I was only able to convince them to give you a few more weeks to work on it, but we need to give them a definite answer." Song Fengyan told him.
While He Lianchen was the one responsible for his finances and business deals, Song Fengyan managed his writing career, acting as a middle man for Feng Tianyi and his publisher. The book that was supposed to be done by now was nowhere in sight and the publisher was starting to get worried if Feng Tianyi would be able to meet the deadline.
"Halfway through. I've already started working on it again," Feng Tianyi tried to assure him but Song Fengyan didn't buy it. This wasn't the first time he almost missed his deadline anyway.
"You worry too much, Fengyan. It will be fine."
Song Fengyan only stared back at him with displeasure written all over his face.
"What?" Feng Tianyi asked when he noticed his cousin's stare. He poured himself a cup of tea and took a quick sniff before drinking it.
"Nothing. I was just wondering how you comb your hair so the horns don't show," Song Fengyan grabbed a cookie from the serving plate and took a large bite of it.
Feng Tianyi chuckled at his cousin's words. Sometimes, Song Fengyan could be a worrywart. Why won't Fengyan trust that he would be able to finish the manuscript on time?
"I love rumors. I always find out amazing things about myself. Things I never knew I did." He replied, earning himself an annoyed look from Song Fengyan.
"Tianyi, the Prime Minister of France just called," Song Fengyan started. "They said they are missing one of the gargoyles back there. Maybe it's time for you to go back!"
They'd been like this since they were younger, but even though they always argue, Song Fengyan was one of the people who were extremely loyal to him, next to He Lianchen.
"How's my dear little brother doing? Did he like my surprise gift?" He asked He Lianchen. The man had shed his outer coat and folded his long sleeves up to his elbow, enjoying the warmth outside the guest house.
"He would've probably heard the news by now. Your mother has no problem with me pulling some strings to annoy Feng Tianhua." The lawyer said in a bored manner. "I also didn't forget to give some to his beloved wife too."
Since he'd already snitched the deal Feng Tianhua had been working on for months, there was nothing that needed his urgent attention at the moment. Unless Feng Tianyi decided to overtake the management of Qing Tian Group, which would eventually happen sooner or later, He Lianchen was set to enjoy most of his free time these days.
Some time later, Tang Moyu arrived with Li Meili and Lin Qianrou, joining them for a morning tea time while the little buns decided to continue planting their seeds before it became noontime.
After exchanging greetings and introducing their guests to each other, Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi discussed Lin Qianrou's opinion over the sculpture and the possible landscape design they could use in the garden.
"Sounds good to me, Tang Moyu. Do you want to add more or is it enough on its own?" Feng Tianyi asked her.
"Hn, I trust Qian's judgement this time. I don't have any artistic streak in me." The empress admitted. Even the main house's interior decor had been made possible because Li Meili helped her choose a young but talented designer to do it for her.
Then the interrogation about Lin Qianrou's divorce started. The three men agreed with Tang Moyu's opinion for Lin Qianrou to have a good talk with her husband first, before making any drastic decision.
"Madam Xu, I'm pretty sure I don't need to tell you how society views divorced women. I would hate to see you receive such ire. You don't deserve it. You also need to consider your hospital bills and the child's trust fund for the future. It's not cheap, and to be honest, I'm amazed that someone like Miss Tang is able to pull through on her own with the recent financial turmoil the economy was facing." He Lianchen gave his piece.
Lin Qianrou thanked him. She hadn't really thought that far, and was glad to listen to his input.
The conversation turned to something PG, which made Tang Moyu glad that her children weren't here to hear any of it. Give it to Li Meili for asking how Qian met her husband.
Poor Lin Qianrou then narrated what happened at Meng Yanran's party and how she seduced Xu Wenyang on his bed, leaving the men speechless at her boldness, given how shy and gentle she looked at the moment.
"So you mean to say, you seduced him after Meng Yanran declined his marriage proposal and left him the next morning on the bed?" Tang Moyu asked. "Was the sex that bad?"
"Why, Moyu? Was that the reason why you also ran away from the little buns' father?" Li Meili asked the empress with a grin. It was rare for her to see Tang Moyu interested in this kind of talk anyway.
