Chapter 92 If I Could Make It Right 1
Why was he so persistent in meeting her again? Shouldn't he still be angry at her for running away? Gu Yuyao couldn't understand him at all. In fact, he was starting to show interest in having her back.
For a lawyer as smart as He Lianchen, he was surely an idiot when it comes to her. Even Li Meili, who had found out about their history had been teasing Gu Yuyao nonstop.
"CFO Gu, why don't you want to date him again? I think he's really your type." Li Meili said with a mischievous smile on her face one afternoon, when she visited Peach Blossom Garden to see the empress and two little buns.
"Ugh, Meili. Please spare me this once." Gu Yuyao rubbed her temple and sighed. He Lianchen even managed to get her phone number and had been sending her messages non stop these days.
"Ha! No way! Now that we know who that mysterious man is, how can I let you be?!"
Gu Yuyao had met Li Meili through Tang Moyu, and they had become good friends since then. Of course, this woman had realized the identity of the man even if Tang Moyu didn't say a word about it.
"So what do you think of him? Still as hot as you remembered?" Li Meili winked at her.
"Li Meili! I swear woman, I don't even understand how Moyu could tolerate you!" Gu Yuyao exclaimed.
The woman in question only laughed at that.
"Moyu loves me anyway. I could've passed as her sister, no?" Li Meili retorted.
Tang Moyu's left eye twitched. Thankfully, her little buns were staying with Qin Jiran in the guest house at the moment, so they wouldn't be able to hear what her so-called friends were talking about.
"So… Is he still your type?" Li Meili continued to probe Gu Yuao with questions, while Tang Moyu kept silent on her seat and busied herself with work. However, the two women were aware that she was also listening.
Gu Yuyao rolled her eyes and sipped her juice with a straw.
"Who told you he's my type?" She countered.
"He's tall. He's handsome. Maybe one exception for him for not being dark." Li Meili teased.
"Dark is not my type. You are probably talking about Moyu." Gu Yuyao scoffed.
Tang Moyu snapped her head at her friends and gave Gu Yuyao a confused look.
"A what?"
Gu Yuyao was half tempted to tell her that she was obviously attracted to the devil living in her home and hadn't realized it herself, but she didn't. She was curious to see what Feng Tianyi would do to win Tang Moyu's heart.
"Meili, I'm not into serious dating. You know this." Gu Yuyao gave her a pointed look. She had a number of boyfriends after He Lianchen, but she always made sure to end the relationship as soon as they tried to be intimate with her.
"I'm not up for commitments, something I'm sure He Lianchen is looking for."
Gu Yuyao was sure that He Lianchen wanted a wife this time and not just casual dating. Gu Yuyao doubted that she could be a wife, his wife. Also, she wasn't looking for a long term relationship, she wanted her relationships to be short and fun. One that she could easily end without suffering a bad heartache once it was over.
"So you'd rather let him slip from your fingers and see him end up with another woman? Look, Yaoyao. Moyu and I aren't blind. We can see that you aren't totally over him. Since he feels the same, why don't you two try to work it out?" Li Meili wasn't making it easy for her with these questions.
"It's easier said than done, Meili," Gu Yuyao grumbled to herself, although she must admit her heart clenched painfully when she imagined He Lianchen being with another woman.
In fact, for the past ten years, she thought that he'd already moved on and forgotten about her. She thought that by this year, he would be thirty-five years old and would've already had a family of his own. She'd never thought that he had remained single all these years and would still want her back.
Li Meili scoffed and shook her head, her expression grew serious, something Tang Moyu and Gu Yuayo rarely see in her.
"You better go get a dog that could be loyal to you than date a man at this rate, Yaoyao. Seriously though, you look good together. I don't understand why you are hesitating. If you are worried about your family, get a fucking prenup and marry He Lianchen."
A prenuptial agreement, huh? She had once considered this, but she was sure as hell that it would be favorable to her family and the clauses would be insulting for her future husband.
She didn't think any sane man would accept it, no matter how large a fortune he would gain from it.
Gu Yuyao huffed and finished her snack. Li Meili was right. She would rather get herself a loyal lapdog than a husband. Well, at least she still had a job that could keep her busy and give her enough money to support her lifestyle.
She had long distanced herself from her own family and hadn't touched the monthly allowance they deposited in her account no matter how taxing it was. Especially when she needed to make ends meet. She was able to send herself to University and finished her masters on her own without relying on her family's wealth. That should be enough to prove something to them, right?
