Chapter 148 Whos Your Wifey? 3
The doctor went to his desk and reviewed Feng Tianyi's medical records since his accident.
"Mr. Feng, the journey from dealing with the immobile state that you were left in after the car crash to walking again can be long and arduous. I cannot give you a definite timeline for a successful recovery. However, I assure you that you have higher chances of full recovery if you strictly adhere to the treatments and rehabilitation of your legs.
"I don't think I need to tell you that you should have done this a long time ago, but there's still a chance."
Tang Moyu decided to chime in and ask a question.
"Doctor, how long does it usually take for someone like him to fully recover?"
"It depends, Miss Tang." Tang Moyu narrowed her eyes at that. She didn't expect that this doctor recognised her. "Every patient responds to physiotherapy differently, so it's hard to pinpoint the exact length of each journey. The severity of injuries following a car accident can also determine how long you will need to work with a physiotherapist."
"How bad was his injury back then?" She didn't want to pry on Feng Tianyi's business, but if she wanted to help him attain full recovery, she must know how bad the situation was.
Dr. Huang looked at Feng Tianyi with curiosity. The devil smiled back at him.
"It's alright, Dr. Huang. You can tell Moyu how useless I was after the accident." He said, giving the doctor permission to disclose the truth about his condition prior to meeting the empress.
The man cleared his throat and read Feng Tianyi's file again. He wondered why the devil was so agreeable. Shouldn't he be careful not to reveal his weaknesses? When he saw Tang Moyu sitting next to his patient, Dr. Huang had to double back to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
"Mr. Feng suffered closed fractures to his pelvis and injuries to both legs. On his right leg, part of his tibia— I mean the shinbone, the larger of the two bones in his lower leg, broke off at the mid-calf level and on the left leg, all of the knee ligaments were torn and needed to be replaced. Aside from that, the blunt force trauma from the car accident caused his lungs to collapse and broke his ribs."
Tang Moyu's jaws hardened and didn't ask any more questions. Feng Tianyi had explained how the accident happened to her prior to this visit. The impact of the collision had thrown Feng Tianyi out of his car, over forty feet across the highway. Added with the fact that he wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time, it caused more injury to his person.
At the severity of his injuries and the condition he was in, no one, not even the doctors nor his mother had thought that he would be able to live.
Tang Moyu didn't know why her chest suddenly tightened at the thought of Feng Tianyi almost losing his life back then.
"Soft tissues heal faster through movement. This is why most doctors would recommend patients to work with physiotherapists to recover and learn to walk again. Your treatment includes several training and exercises and we will formulate a program for you to follow. However, we expect you to diligently stick to the plan."
"I'll make sure he will stick to it, Doctor." Tang Moyu said with a straight face, making Feng Tianyi sweatdropped. It seemed that he really had no choice but to follow through the rehabilitation plan if Tang Moyu insisted him to do it.
"What kind of training and exercises? What should we expect from it? Would it be painful for him?" She asked.
The more they know about the therapy, the more they would be able to prepare for Feng Tianyi's treatments. Also, she didn't forget that Feng Tianyi told her about him feeling pain whenever he attempted to move or walk around with his cane.
"Good question, Miss Tang. One of the training Mr. Feng would be subjected to is Gait training. This involves showing him how to physically put one foot in front of the other. The car accident left him with no mobility in his lower limbs, Mr. Feng will need to retrain his body on how to move. We will study his legs and hips to ensure his post-accident gait is strong so that there's no chance of re-injuring himself with every step.
"He'll also need to do balance and coordination exercises. In order to stabilize himself when he stands up, he would need to work on his balance. As for coordination, these exercises involve repetition of movement so that his body can start to remember how to control his legs to take those steps. His muscles need a refresher course too. Using specific techniques, any inactive muscle groups that are used for walking will learn to become active again."
Hearing the doctor's explanation on his therapy, Feng Tianyi felt a headache coming his way. Was there really no other choice for him? But when he saw the look on Tang Moyu's face as she listened intently to everything Dr. Huang had to say, he knew that there was no way he would be able to back out this time.
