Chapter 184 Summoning the Empress Dowager 4
"To actually dare to summon me here, out of the blue? You are getting bolder these days," she told him. Feng Tianyi simply shrugged off her remark.
"I'll be leaving Moyu in your care. Please make sure the twins don't get hurt in the process."
Song Huifen scoffed at that. The Ye family wouldn't be able to do anything to the twins unless they were declaring war against the Song family and Qing Tian Group.
"Do you think so lowly of me to even worry about such a thing?" She then turned to face Tang Moyu, who was feeling anxious to see her little buns. It was almost past five in the afternoon and she wasn't sure if they were hungry or scared waiting for her. What if Little Star fainted from too much crying?
"Miss Tang, please sit with me. Give me a quick recap of what's happening," she then glanced at Lu Tianxin and Ye Xiaozu, who were both standing behind the empress. "You two can take the other car. Be prepared and don't cause any more trouble."
Feng Tianyi waved a hand, reminding Tang Moyu to calm down and let his mother deal with the old woman. Tang Moyu slipped into the same car as Song Huifen, while her cousin and Ye Xiaozu took the other car behind them.
The entourage of cars the empress dowager had brought with her drove away from Peach Blossom Garden, heading towards the Ye Mansion, where the children were being kept. At the backseat of the car, Tang Moyu sat stiffly and looked out the window, fully aware that Song Huifen was looking at her.
The older woman looked at her with interest. She'd seen Tang Moyu from afar when the empress was younger and couldn't help but think that she was a great beauty. Her presence was one that people couldn't easily ignore, no matter how much they tried to.
For a moment, she wondered why Feng Tianhua chose another woman and ignored Tang Moyu. Was there no attraction between the two?
It made sense to her why her son would be enamored with the fallen empress of Shenzhen. The empress's set of twins also intrigued her. How was it possible that no one was able to find out who fathered Tang Moyu's children?
Apparently, not even the empress knew the identity of the man who fathered her children, but Xiao Bao's resemblance to her son, Tianyi, had caused a ripple in Song Huifen's heart. The investigators she hired couldn't find a lead to prove that her son had met the empress five years ago.
Was she forgetting or overlooking something? Song Huifen wondered. Was there a way to prove her son's parentage of Tang Moyu's children, other than to run a paternity test between them? Alas, that would be easier said than done.
"Miss Tang, how is your relationship with the Ye family and their company?" She asked, breaking the awkward silence between them.
Feng Tianyi only told her a gist of what happened and she still wasn't sure why Tang Moyu's children had been taken with Lu Ziluo. Was it a mistake on Ye Xixi's part, or did she intend to destroy the empress along with her nephew, Ye Xiaozu?
After all, Tang Moyu was slowly regaining her reputation and the momentum to get back on track.
Tang Moyu explained in detail about how her cousin had adopted Ye Yimei's son when he was born and raised him on her own. She also mentioned the possibility that Lu Ziluo might inherit the shares his biological mother owned and that was possibly why Ye Xixi wanted the right to his custody from Lu Tianxin, effectively ousting Ye Xiaozu from his position as the president of Ye Corporation.
Song Huifen listened to her with interest. Yeah, by the looks of it, Ye Xixi might aim for the absolute control that she'd been deprived of for years. She was naturally aware of the internal conflict the Ye family had over the years.
Ye Xiaoting and Ye Xixi had fought each other fiercely to inherit the company from their father. Alas, the daughter had lost dramatically to her younger brother, who was more favored compared to her. Ye Xixi was forced to step back and allow Ye Xiaoting to take the lead and manage their family business, even though she was the one who had the skills to flourish it.
Song Huifen knew that she was quite similar to Ye Xixi. However, she had embraced her weaknesses and accepted it as a part of herself and had worked hard to improve and sharpen her skills. She didn't allow anyone to question her authority, regardless of her gender, which had been an asset when she took absolute control of not only the Song family, but Qing Tian Group as well.
She might have had a lapse of judgment when she married Tianyi's father as arranged by her family, but she refused to be used and to be exploited by her ex-husband, the sole reason she fought head to head with him for her son's custody.
"Ah, then you really don't have to worry too much, Miss Tang. I understand now." She told Tang Moyu, who was another woman she felt was similar to herself. Although, unlike her, the empress had managed to dodge a bullet by not marrying Feng Tianhua.
"As for Ye Xixi, it's about time she accepts that she'd lost a long time ago. There's no point in keeping a child she cannot use or control. Especially if Lu Ziluo only listens to his mother." She chuckled. "You know what they say? Mothers are their son's first love. It's useless to acquire the company now. Ye Xixi has already lost her chance. The least she could do now is to guide her nephew."
