Chapter 222 Not a Damsel in Distress 2
She wasn't even interested in dating at all. Because of the teachings her 'mother' had imposed on her since she was young and with her nasty rift with Feng Tianhua, the empress believed that those men who are intimidated by smart, successful, independent women are weak-assed men who won't value her time and attention.
While most women see themselves as damsels in distress, men look at the mirror and see the reflection of a knight in sleek, shining armor. There was no one to blame in the patriarchal society.
Men don't like strong, independent women because their roles won't come to life if there's no princess to be saved. Their ego won't grow, nor will their balls. Hence, men need women — or better yet girls, to have someone to mollycoddle.
Tang Moyu would never downplay her strength for a man. It's fine for men to want whatever they want out of a relationship. There are men out there who are happier with women who will not challenge them. This, she was aware of.
How many times did she meet men who gave her a scornful look just because she outsmarted them? She had already lost count.
While she may have many men pining for her attention, she was not going to be sitting at home, waiting on every single one of them. She's got a lot of work to do, important work that needed her attention. No matter how much men say that they wanted an equal partner, a woman who's smart and independent would often make them feel emasculated or inferior.
It wasn't like she didn't want to rely on Feng Tianyi, now that she had him by her side. But to her, she accepted him not because she had expected to gain something from him.
Unlike his younger brother, Feng Tianyi respected her intelligence, appreciated her independence, and admired her confidence. He never made her feel inferior nor lacking. What's more, he always tried his best to understand her.
Feng Tianyi had a grim expression on his face, clearly perturbed over the commotion earlier. He didn't want any of that to happen when he was around.
"Let's talk about this later." Tang Moyu whispered to him as she saw her son running towards them. She didn't want to give the children the impression that they were arguing.
The rest of the day was spent in endless chattering among their friends while Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi had set their issues aside to tend to the little buns' whining for food.
Tang Moyu hummed in agreement as she ate the third serving of her grilled lamb chop.
"It was easier to move around dressed like this anyway," she replied, not aware that the devil was suppressing his smile as he looked at her.
He could definitely bet that Moyu had forgotten the previous ordeal about her gaining weight and he hated to remind her of it. Feng Tianyi definitely didn't want to get on her bad side by getting in the way between her and her food.
"Lianchen, remind me not to get on Miss Tang's bad side. I certainly don't want to be beaten into a pulp by her." Song Fengyan commented, still couldn't get over how the empress and Li Meili had easily subdued Han Shaohui and his little 'gang', even before they could rescue them.
Who would have thought that the empress had a hidden skill under her sleeves? Not only did she and Li Meili successfully defend everyone, but she was also able to force Han Shaohui to divorce her older sister on the spot.
"See? I told you. You were worrying too much. Why do you think we were able to go for a night out without getting harassed?" Gu Yuyao poured herself a merlot and sipped on it. "It is because Moyu and Meili are with us. They will beat the shit out of those men who dared to ruin our night." She chuckled.
Ah, remembering those times when the three of them were still in New York, spending night outs together, with only Tang Moyu being sober at the end of the day, Gu Yuyao certainly does know that they could rely on the empress. She'd seen worse brawls and streetfights that Tang Moyu and Li Meili were in.
"At least, we don't have to be worried about Tang Wanyu's safety. I don't think Han Shaohui would want to touch her, considering how much Moyu broke his body." Li Meili laughed out loud.
"I could have broken his third leg, but I remembered it's already useless in the first place. He did the world a great favor for having empty seeds that won't be able to spawn his stupidity." Tang Moyu said as she kept herself busy with her dinner.
The three men looked at each other and shivered at her words. No doubt, the empress was capable of doing it. Poor Han Shaohui, he learned never to underestimate a woman the hard way. Too bad, there wouldn't be a next time for them to meet again as Tang Moyu would obliterate him completely if he ever dared to show up again.
With one major problem down, Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi could proceed with their plans, now that her older sister wouldn't be affected by the fall of the Han family. She wouldn't be content with just gaining her sister's freedom back.
Divorce alone wasn't enough to repay all the things Han Shaohui had done to Tang Wanyu.
