Chapter 237 Do You Think My Mother Ever Loved Me? 1
She'd seen Tang Moyu in several financial articles in newspapers and magazines, but seeing her personally made her shed tears and couldn't help but be emotional on their first meeting.
Lian Fang had been worried and curious about how Tang Moyu was faring in her father's family. She knew that the girl would be in great trouble when Tang Lixue took her with him and brought her back to Shenzhen.
"I didn't expect that you'll look for me. Why are you curious about Yu'er though? Did something happen?" Lian Fang asked the empress, whose face was totally unreadable at the moment, reminding her of Tang Lixue.
Lian Fang had only met Tang Lixue once, but it was obvious that he was in a totally different world from her and Yan Qiuyu. His regal bearing spoke wealth and elegance. No wonder Yan Qiuyu said that they were incompatible with each other.
Tang Moyu took after her father's personality and height, in contrast to the physical attributes that she mostly got from her mother. Lian Fang wondered what Tang Lingjun would look like if he hadn't died with their mother.
The empress asked several questions about her parents, but Lian Fang's answers weren't enough for her. The old woman had given her an old key, telling her about the Yan property her birth mother owned at Nanchang.
"I'm not really sure why your parents broke up aside from what Yu'er told me. She said your father married another woman because of the arrangement that had been set even before they met. It must be really hard for them to break up as Yu'er had to block his calls. She refused to meet or to talk to him." Lian Fang told Tang Moyu.
The empress eyed the old key on the table and took it. Her hands gripping it as if it holds the answer she was seeking. Nanchang City. Would she be able to know more about her parents there?
"Say, Lady Lian… do you think…… " Tang Moyu's voice trembled a little and Feng Tianyi saw her swallow the lump in her throat. "Do you think my mother ever loved me?"
"What kind of question is that, Miss Tang?!" The old woman gasped at her question incredulously. "Of course, she did! For Yu'er, you and Lingjun were her life. There was no one else in this world that she loved more than the two of you."
The Yan and the Lian families were very close to each other. Since Yan Qiuyu's death, the Yan property should be passed on to Tang Moyu as the only living member of the Yan family. The Lian family had kept the Yan property clean and tidy for years, not knowing if?Tang Moyu would one day come and claim her rights.
Although Tang Moyu's eyes were stung with tears, she refused to shed tears in front of a stranger. She thanked the old woman for her help and left with Feng Tianyi, who'd been focused on her ever since they arrived at Lian Fang's place.
"Nanchang is far from here." He told her. "I can arrange for someone to arrange a flight for us going to Nanchang as it would be faster. Do you still want to go, or should we go back to Shenzhen?" He asked her once they settled inside her car.
"Yes, I think we should go. It's better to settle this as soon as we can than to go home and wonder what else I missed." She leaned her back on her seat and shut her eyes.
Feng Tianyi didn't waste time and called Song Fengyan to make arrangements for him and Moyu. Since they would be traveling on air, they would need to leave Moyu's car at the airport and would need to ask someone to bring it back to Shenzhen.
He also didn't forget to call his mother, informing her of the sudden change of plans. The earliest they could be back in Shenzhen would be past midnight and he wondered if they could just spend the night at one of the five-star hotels at Nanchang instead of traveling late at night.
"Ah, so you mean the twins are going to have a sleepover here?" Song Huifen asked. "That's fine with me. But you better talk to them first. They might wonder where the two of you are if you don't come back soon." She reminded him.
"Baobao! Little Star! Your daddy is on the phone and wants to say something to the two of you." She called the twins, not giving Feng Tianyi the chance to deny her.
The little buns leapt up at the mention of their Daddy Ji. Hands extended and excited for the phone their Mommy Fen was holding. It was Little Star who took the phone first, her small hands pressing it to her ear excitedly.
"Hi, Daddy!" She beamed, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, making Song Huifen chuckle over her excitement.
"Little Star, I want to talk to Daddy too." Xiao Bao complained next to his twin sister, with a slight pout on his cute face as Little Star started to babble about what they'd been doing while they were away.
"It's okay, dear." Song Huifen intervened, stopping a tantrum that might start. "Let your sister talk first, then you'll have your chance."
