Chapter 265 You Are Supposed to Be on My Side! 1
Ever since Xu Wenyang found out about his wife's pregnancy, he had cut off his working hours and followed Lin Qianrou like a mother hen, constantly worrying over her.
Today, he left her with Li Meili after reassuring his wife that he would be back as soon as his meeting at the office ended, though Lin Qianrou insisted that he could take his time because she was also starting to lose her mind from his incessant worrying.
Lin Qianrou lifted her gaze from the pregnancy book she was reading to look at her friend, who was unusually silent since her arrival. For someone who was as talkative and as energetic as Li Meili, she was surely not being herself today.
"Meili, is something bothering you?" She asked.
Li Meili hummed, rolled on her side and propped her head in one hand.
"He's back, Qian. I don't know what to do with him anymore."
Lin Qianrou's brows shot up, her mind going at full speed until she realized who Li Meili was talking about.
"You mean that guy? Sister Moyu's brother?" She blinked.
When Li Meili didn't say anything in return and only furrowed her brows, Lin Qianrou let out a laugh. She thought that it was pretty cute to see Li Meili like this. She usually had an unbridled tongue that wouldn't care about what people would think of her, despite coming from a wealthy family that imposed strict manners and proper etiquettes on heiresses like her.
Of course she had known about Tang Moyu's younger brother. When Li Meili returned from states three years ago, she also had a chance to meet Tang Beixuan. She was confused as to why a man as young as Tang Beixuan would follow Li Meili around like a lost puppy until Li Meili finally agreed to talk to him.
Lin Qianrou didn't know the details of what it was about, but could tell that it upset Li Meili as she left the young man alone at the restaurant once she had said her piece.
"He's back? Have you told Sister Moyu about what happened?" She asked Li Meili.
Li Meili shook her head before allowing herself to flop down on the couch in frustration. She already made it clear to Tang Beixuan, but why was she feeling awful right now?
"He's pretty persistent." She grumbled, loud enough for Lin Qianrou to hear.
"And consistent if I may add." Lin Qianrou commented.
"Qian! You are supposed to be on my side!"
The pregnant woman laughed, closed the book she was reading and placed it down on her lap. Her lips curled into a slight smile seeing Li Meili's annoyance.
Li Meili fell silent. She couldn't counter what Lin Qianrou said. She would be lying if she says she wasn't touched by Tang Beixuan's efforts for the past five years, but their five year age difference and the fact that he was Tang Moyu's brother grated her nerves.
"I think you are being hard on yourself, Meili. If you are worried about Sister Moyu, maybe you should give her the benefit of doubt. Who knows maybe she wouldn't mind you dating her younger brother." Lin Qianrou shrugged before taking another book to read from her nightstand.
Actually, she didn't need a complete bed rest, but her husband was just too worried after they discovered her spotting. The doctor had assured them that their baby was growing just fine in her womb, but Xu Wenyang wouldn't hear any of it and requested the doctor to allow his wife to be put on a bed rest to limit her movements.
Talk about being paranoid. Lin Qianrou tried not to roll her eyes from her husband's antics. Perhaps because he was too excited or worried about their child. She hadn't known that her husband wanted a child until he found out about her pregnancy.
Li Meili knew that her friend had a point, but it was easier said than done. Although she wanted to trust that Tang Moyu would try her best to understand her, Li Meili still felt ashamed for keeping this from her for too long. The fact that the said man was her younger brother all this time didn't help ease her shame either.
"I don't know, Qian. I already rejected him last night. Hopefully, he will understand why I have to do that. It's for the best." She sighed, covering her eyes with one arm as she felt another headache coming her way.
"Is it really?" Lin Qianrou hummed.
It was obvious that her friend had feelings for their Sister Moyu's younger brother, but as to why she was hurting herself like this, Lin Qianrou simply couldn't understand. So what if there was an age gap between them? Was Li Meili really bothered about what people would say if she dated the younger Tang Beixuan?
Lin Qianrou didn't think Li Meili or Tang Moyu cared about how the public perceived them, as long as they knew that they weren't doing anything wrong or hurting another person themselves. So why would Li Meili still hesitate to accept Tang Beixuan when she was obviously into him? Whether she admits it or not, it's not exactly something she could control.
Lin Qiarou could only sigh. She hoped that Meili could muster enough courage to face her own fears.
