Chapter 310 - The Two Empresses (3)
And just like that, Tang Moyu found herself in Hangzhou with her assistant, Cheng Ning. The plane arrived exactly at 5PM just according to schedule. She gave Feng Tianyi a call to assure him that they had safely landed.
The airport was as busy as expected. There was a huge crowd outside once she and Cheng Ning stepped out of the airport.
"Luo Qingqing! Luo Qingqing!" The excited fans were chanting someone's name.
"Who's that?" Tang Moyu asked. The sunglasses on her face protected her from the sudden glare from the sun. She couldn't get a better look to see what was happening. The four bodyguards she brought with her surrounded her and Cheng Ning from other passerbys.
"Ah, that was Luo Qingqing. You haven't heard about her, Miss Moyu?" Cheng Ning asked once they were able to settle inside the safety of the car that was waiting for them outside the airport.
"I'm sorry. I don't particularly follow the trend on television since our return, but I think I've seen her in some promotional ads." Tang Moyu replied. She'd been too busy working to save the company and would only spend her spare time sleeping to regain strength.
Cheng Ning nodded as she could understand why her boss wasn't familiar with Luo Qingqing. The actress had suddenly risen to fame overnight because of the recent historical drama she starred in on the television.
Whenever she returned home, Cheng Ning would spend time in front of her television to unwind. Luo Qingqing's popularity was now comparable to Xing Yiyue and their fans had been ganging up against each other because of their idols.
"People say she would be the next film empress, Miss Moyu. You see her fans have been raving about her popular work. Her first roles weren't the major ones, but she managed to stand out with her impeccable acting." She told her boss excitedly.
Tang Moyu was surprised to hear that Cheng Ning was a fan of this Luo Qingqing. What were the odds that the two empresses of two different worlds were in the same area?
One was the fallen empress of the business world, while the other was the next film empress, threatening Xing Yiyue's position in the entertainment industry. A first encounter that would affect both lives.
Luo Qingqing's path was completely surrounded by fans, and neither the airport security nor her bodyguards could stop them.
"What should we do?" The actress asked her assistant worried as they looked at the huge crowd, waiting for them outside.
"I know!" Her assistant exclaimed, placing her fist on her open hand as an idea crossed her mind. "Let's switch each other's clothes in the bathroom. After that, go to your hotel and get some sleep."
Luo Qingqing easily agreed with her assistant and did what was suggested. She made sure to look plain and act as another passerby while her assistant posed as her in public so she could get away from the unwanted attention.
She needed to get a few hours of sleep before she could drive towards the next shooting location of the drama she was starring in. However, with all the attention she was getting lately, it was hard to shrug off her fans who'd been following her nonstop.
Anyway, leaving the airport without being noticed was indeed hard. She managed to leave Shanghai without being noticed, but she wasn't sure how she could do that in Hangzhou.
She only had her assistant to help her around, and although her popularity was soaring these days, it also meant that she had disturbed the balance of the hierarchy on the ranks of the actors.
Luo Qingqing was feeling frustrated at how her fellow actresses within the same company she was signed with were treating her. Was it true that Xing Yiyue was feeling threatened by her?
That's ridiculous! She was only doing her job, doing her best to deliver her role. She never thought or dreamed of being a film empress. However, she wasn't sure why it kept happening whenever she was travelling.
Luo Qingqing was sure that only a couple of people knew her work schedule, so how come fans knew where to go to follow her around?
Checking her reflection in the mirror, Luo Qingqing adjusted her wig and tried to ease the tightness on her shoulders. She touched the brown wig on top of her head, completely changing her appearance in public. That, combined with her outfit, people wouldn't think that she was the actress, Luo Qingqing, that people were talking about.
She briefly regretted allowing her assistant to use herself as a decoy, but they had no other choice. It was a small sacrifice for her freedom, and now she needed to go to the hotel where she would be staying, hoping that none of her 'fans' would know her whereabouts.
A big crowd was gathered on the other side of the VIP lane. A brunette in her early twenties rushed past the crowd, trying to hide her face in public and being surrounded with the bodyguard's her management assigned to her.
It was her assistant. Luo Qingqing would be able to recognize her even from afar. When the crowd started to disperse as the company car drove away, Luo Qingqing hurriedly avoided the flow of people, hiding her face.
"Is that Luo Qingqing?" She heard a woman asked.
"Ah, yes. She looked familiar." This time, the actress wondered if she was hearing things or there was a hint of sarcasm in its voice.
Luo Qingqing was shocked. It was impossible for anyone to recognize her in this disguise, so how did they manage to know it was her? This sent alarms in her head at once.
She immediately sprinted, trying to hail a cab but failed. Instead, a black shiny car stopped right in front of her and the backseat of the door opened.
"Get inside or be caught by them."
