Chapter 384 - Cross the Line (2)
The three women had only bought some souvenirs and had just finished their lunch with the little buns. Now, they were seated on a bench at the local playground, watching Xiao Bao and Little Star play among other children.
"Is it just me or Baobao and Little Star seem happier being here compared when we were still in New York?" Gu Yuyao asked as she sipped her strawberry milkshake, her eyes following Little Star who climbed on the slide along with her brother.
"You aren't alone, Yaoyao. It's obvious that they like being here. Or maybe having Feng Tianyi in their lives has somehow lessened their insecurity towards other people." Li Meili said, giving Tang Moyu a sideways glance, gauging her friends reaction.
The empress was awfully quiet today and she didn't miss that Tang Moyu had almost ignored Feng Tianyi earlier. Did something happen between them? Li Meili hadn't noticed that there was anything wrong between them when they arrived yesterday.
"Moyu, are you alright? You are unusually quiet today." She asked her best friend.
Since they'd known each other for a long time, Li Meili could easily tell if something was wrong with Tang Moyu. The empress's silence could mean a lot of things, but looking at her today, Li Meili felt that something was troubling Tang Moyu and it involved Feng Tianyi.
"Did you and Tianyi have a fight? Did he cheat on you or what?" Gu Yuyao asked Tang Moyu who still remained silent. but the slight hardening of her jaw was a giveaway to the two women. Something had indeed happened.
"Did he make you cry? Moyu, I might not be as good as you or Meili, but just tell me if Tianyi did something. I'll kick his a.s.s myself if I need to." She reminded the empress.
"No, that's not it, Yaoyao. He didn't cheat on me." She replied to her two friends. They must have noticed her uneasiness today.
Perhaps it would have been easier to deal with it if Feng Tianyi cheated on her. As much as she loved the devil, Tang Moyu still had self preservation and respect for herself. However, that wasn't the problem.
"Then what's the problem?" It was Gu Yuyao who asked her straightforwardly. "Just tell us what it is and we will do our best to help you." She added.
Tang Moyu remained silent for a moment and watched her little buns laugh together. Her daughter's loud squeal as she played along with the other kids reached her ears.
"Yaoyao, Meili, Feng Tianyi have found the twins' father." She dropped the bomb on her friends, not giving them time to prepare for it.
"He what?!" Li Meili's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Tang Moyu's troubled face. She knew what her best friend's stance was about the little buns' biological father was, and for Feng Tianyi to find that man without asking for Tang Moyu's permission, it was normal for the empress to be upset over it.
"What the heck? Why the f.u.c.k would he do that? Is he out of his mind?" Gu Yuyao gritted her teeth in frustration. Just what was Feng Tianyi thinking? How could he be careless?
Finding the identity of the little buns' father was a s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e issue for Tang Moyu. The devil didn't overestimate Tang Moyu's love and trust she had for him, did he?
No wonder Tang Moyu wasn't her usual self today. If the empress truly wanted to know about who fathered her twins, Li Meili and Gu Yuyao would be ready to utilize all the resources they had just to help Tang Moyu. But since the empress didn't want to, they respected her wishes and didn't find him behind her back.
For Feng Tianyi to dare to cross the line and find the man, wasn't he afraid of losing Tang Moyu's affection for him?
"So did he tell you who it is?" Li Meili probed. No wonder her best friend was being like this. Tang Moyu must have been shocked and disappointed at the same time for what Feng Tianyi did.
"Yes, because he told me I needed to know… that I have no other choice but to face my fear for me to protect my children in the future." The empress replied, leaving two of her friends baffled by her answer.
What was that supposed to mean? Was Baobao and Little Star's lives in danger?
"Why? Is their father a dangerous man? Moyu, is someone threatening you using them? He isn't planning to take them from you?" Li Meili questioned her.
If the twins' lives were in danger, then there was no point for Tang Moyu to stay here in Shenzhen. The Tang Enterprise could go to hell for all she cared. Li Meili would rather see the twins safe than watch her best friend struggle to run the company while knowing that someone was after Xiao Bao and Little Star.
"No, Meili. He won't be taking away Baobao and Little Star. At least that's what he told me." Tang Moyu answered.
"You mean Feng Tianyi told you or their father?" Gu Yuyao was confused. It didn't make sense to her why Feng Tianyi would find the twins' father knowing that Tang Moyu would hate him for it. She knew that the devil was a very selfish man, and thought that if anything else, Feng Tianyi would try his best to protect his interest and what was his.
Instead of answering her question, Tang Moyu fell silent as if she was contemplating whether to tell them the truth or not. She didn't think that the paternity test result she'd read was falsified. The lab that ran the test had a good reputation in the country and ran their tests discreetly.
"No, Yaoyao." She finally said after a long silence between them. "He wouldn't be taking away Baobao and Little Star because their father is none other than Feng Tianyi himself."
