Chapter 421 - Don’t Let Yun Zhen Take You Away (1)
"Don't let Yun Zhen take you away from me…"
In Tang Moyu's ears, it sounded ridiculous and impossible, but as she looked at Feng Tianyi, he looked like a little boy who was afraid to be left on his own. She wanted to say something. However, as soon as she lifted her gaze and looked straight into his eyes, Tang Moyu could sense a hint of despair in his eyes, making her forget the words she was about to say in return.
She had always taken his words seriously, but there was something in the way he spoke that caused a ripple of emotion she couldn't convey from her heart.
She hadn't even noticed that the elevator stopped and only blinked when Feng Tianyi dragged her out. In a blink of an eye, she found herself inside the suit Feng Tianyi had reserved for the two of them.
The suite was dimly lit with a soft yellow glow. Midnight was fast approaching and if they decided to go back to Peach Blossom Garden, it would take them an hour and a half.
"You aren't gonna run, Moyu?" She heard Feng Tianyi asked when she hadn't made a move, stilled at the doorway as if she was rooted on the spot.
She had no other choice but to follow him inside and shed her outer coat, watching him as he turned on the lights at the sitting area and at the small kitchen.
"Want something to drink?" Feng Tianyi asked her as he checked the fridge and the pantry in the kitchen.
"We've just had dinner. Do I need a drink or do you need a drink?" She pointed out the obvious. Why did he look so nervous anyway? This wasn't the first time they'd been together on their own.
Feng Tianyi laughed awkward as he took two cans of cold beer from the fridge before returning to the sitting area, taking a seat next to her.
"Yeah, I think I do need it to calm down." He admitted, but he didn't make it clear what made him nervous in the first place.
Tang Moyu took the can he offered and opened it with a loud click. By this time, she was starting to be aware of her exhaustion. The days she'd been spending more at work had started to take a toll on her health. She didn't have enough rest, and without Feng Tianyi around these few days, her meals were not as appetizing.
"If you're tired, you can go ahead and sleep." Feng Tianyi said as he noticed her unusual silence.
"No, it's fine. It's been awhile since we spent time together." She said, taking a sip from her drink before turning her gaze out the window next to the sitting room.
She realized how much time had passed since she returned to Shenzhen and met Feng Tianyi. Had it only been over nine months since then? She hadn't even expected that she would have the life that she had right now and would eventually find the father of her children in the most unexpected way.
"What are you thinking about? I hope it's not about work again." Feng Tianyi said next to her. Hasn't she spent enough time at work and with Yun Zhen lately? He definitely didn't want her to think about that man when she was with him.
"Not, of course not. Just thinking that we have come a long way since I came back with Baobao and Little Star. I initially thought that it wasn't worth it, but looking back I'm glad that I came back."
Feng Tianyi smiled at that. He certainly could relate with her. Hadn't it only been yesterday when he was still wallowing in self pity and refused to get the therapy he needed to be able to walk again?
If he hadn't come back and hadn't met the little buns in that small cafe downtown, Feng Tianyi had no doubt he would remain the same till this day.
He was absolutely sure that he would remain sulking on his own, living in their private villa back in France, spending the rest of his life there, waiting for his life to cease on its own.
If he didn't agree with his mother to come back with her, he wouldn't be able to meet the children he never knew existed, and wouldn't be able to reunite with Tang Moyu in the most fatefully surprising way.
"I know right? Makes you think how much time we'd lost before we were able to find each other." He leaned forward, his fingers reaching to touch her face.
Shutting her eyes, Tang Moyu felt him gently trace the side of her face, her lips and finally, cupping her chin, turning her face to kiss her lips. She could feel her heart thumping loudly in her c.h.e.s.t.
This was something she only felt when she was with Feng Tianyi. She has never experienced it with any other person. Not when she was still Feng Tianhua's fiancée, and certainly not when she was in Yun Zhen's company.
She didn't regret that she had allowed herself to fall in love with this man, but still, there was a little voice in her heart that hoped that he wouldn't break what remained in her battered heart.
The empress truly hated being vulnerable and weak. It had been hard for her to accept and trust Feng Tianyi after she was betrayed by his brother, and she didn't think that she would be able to endure it if she suffered the same thing all over again.
The room was brightly lit, but his obsidian eyes were as dark as the night once she opened her eyes. He smiled at her wickedly, allowing her little time to deny his touch, though she didn't even attempt to.
Feng Tianyi gently touched her lower lip with his thumb, her chin and slid down her smooth collarbone, his finger reaching and undoing the top button of her shirt.
"I thought you would be too tired from your trip."
"No. Never too tired when it comes to you."
