Chapter 501 - Big Sister? What Big Sister? (1)
However, a kid was still a kid. No matter how hard young Feng Tianyi pretended not to be affected by his father's betrayal, seeing him living happily with his new wife and other son made him feel unwanted.
Feng Zuyi totally forgot about his existence and only focused on his new family. Feng Tianyi could only watch from afar as his father pampered his half-brother, being a father Feng Zuyi had never been for him.
His father rarely made eye contact with him and only spoke to him out of anger and hatred whenever Feng Tianyi provoked him or bullied his half brother. Perhaps, he'd been naive to believe that someday he would be worthy enough to gain his father's affection.
Wang Ruoxi also didn't stop pestering him even though he was living alone in the main house. She occasionally appears in front of the door, waiting for Feng Tianyi to come out, trying to hand over the packed lunch she prepared for him.
He would then knock it out of Wang Ruoxi's hands, infuriating his father further because of his insolence. Young Feng Tianyi would often scoff and ignore the cheating couple. He would only give them a contemptuous look, muttering how foolish his father was to believe such a two faced woman before walking away.
Feng Tianyi had long accepted that he and his father would never have a normal relationship. The man didn't consider him as his child anyway. When Feng Zuyi looked at him, he would occasionally call him Song Huifen's child because his features were more like the Song family than the Fengs.
He also realized that his life was worth nothing to his father. He was merely a puppet, a tool that Feng Zuyi needed. His heart was now filled with bitterness and guilt upon seeing the distress he caused on his own mother.
"Go away!"
Suddenly, young Feng Tianyi's ear picked up a voice not too far from him. He rose to his feet to see who it was and saw a little girl. Pearls of tears rolled down her cheeks and she wiped it roughly with the back of her hands. She looked distressed, which made her fail to realize his presence.
This part of the woods was what separated his Uncle Yang's property from the others. He wondered if this little girl was his godfather's relative. He hid himself behind a tree and took a peek to see what the girl was doing. He watched the girl curiously from a distance.
The little girl was pleasant to look at. It reminded Feng Tianyi of the expensive porcelain dolls he'd seen before. She had a smooth, delicate skin that looked too soft to touch. Feng Tianyi then noticed that she was younger than him.
Even though the girl was sobbing quietly and her round brown eyes were brimming with tears, her cuteness couldn't be contained by it. In fact, it only made her look more adorable and irresistible in one's eyes.
The little girl picked up a rock that was as large as her small fist from the ground before throwing it in the air, attempting to hit something on top of the tree.
"Go away! Go away! Don't eat them!" She wailed helplessly. Her attempts seem futile as none of her throws were able to hit her target.
"Huh?" Feng Tianyi followed her gaze and saw a nest with hatchlings on it, then a snake eating them one by one, while two birds were incessantly pecking on its head, attempting to save their hatchling from the predator.
The little girl continued to sob quietly.
"Oh no. What should I do?" She asked herself. She looked around, wondering if she would be able to find an a.d.u.l.t to help her, but instead met Feng Tianyi's gaze.
Feng Tianyi stepped back in shock, not expecting that the girl would be able to catch him staring at her.
"Big sister! Help!" The little girl ran towards him and pulled his wrist.
"Oi! Where are you taking me?" Feng Tianyi asked.
"Big Sister, you must help me! Help me chase that snake away!" The little girl demanded.
Feng Tianyi was dumbfounded by her words. Did she just call him big sister twice?
He looked at himself and realized that the little girl had mistaken him for a young lady. With his hair growing past his shoulders, it gave him a more feminine look. He wanted to correct the girl, but he had no time to do so because of her incessant demand.
"Big sister, please do something!" She said.
One of the hatchlings was already swallowed whole by the snake. And there were four left inside the nest.
"Give up, Little Girl. It's their destiny to be eaten alive by the snake." He told her. What was she doing in this kind of place anyway? Although the snake isn't venomous, this part of the woods was dangerous for a young girl like her.
The girl stared back at him with doe-like brown eyes, fanned with thick lashes.
"I understand but… but… they also deserve to live and be happy." She lowered her head, her lips quivered as she tried to suppress her hot tears.
Feng Tianyi stared down at her and rested one hand on his hip and ran his fingers through his disheveled hair.
"Fine. Stop crying already." He g.r.o.a.n.e.d and looked on the ground to see what he could use to chase away the snake.
Thankfully, the snake wasn't large, so it won't pose a danger to the two of them as long as they didn't chase after it.
Feng Tianyi picked up some rocks and tested its weight as he threw it in mid air and caught them easily. He then went to a position as if he was pitching a baseball. The little girl stepped aside and clutched her hands over her c.h.e.s.t, watching the older girl throw rocks to the snake on the tree eagerly to see if she could do it.
