Chapter 502 - Big Sister? What Big Sister? (2)
The first and second throw of the rocks missed the target. Seeing that the snake was about to devour its second meal, Feng Tianyi hurriedly threw the third rock, which hit the snake's head before it could touch the hatchlings. The snake lost its balance and fell into the bushes below the tree.
It didn't bother to return and finish its meal and crawled away. Feng Tianyi wasn't sure if this would make any difference. The snake might just come back later to finish its job. Those hatchlings had no future as long as the snake was around.
Maybe he should tell his Uncle Yang about the snake. Although this woods was usually deserted, the Yang family, as well as the families owning the lands past the woods, were keeping it safe and protected.
"Hurry, let us help them relocate their nest!" The little girl appeared beside him and demanded his help once again. Her face had a hint of terror on it, as if she was thinking that the snake would come back sooner.
Feng Tianyi looked at the young girl, flabbergasted. She had already forced him to chase away a snake, and now she wanted him to go up the tree and relocate the nest elsewhere? Was she even serious?
But looking at her decisive cute face and puffed cheeks, the young devil was unable to decline her request. Feng Tianyi carefully went up the tree and took the nest gently, while trying to fend off the birds flapping their wings around him. At least they weren't pecking on his face. He thought.
Feng Tianyi and the little girl walked several meters away from the original spot of the tree and found a sturdy branch on one of the highest trees in the woods. With the little girl's instruction, they were able to relocate the small family of birds, leaving Feng Tianyi exhausted.
Damn this girl for being so riled up because of those birds. As he laid on the grassy land, he took a glance at the young girl who was seated near him. She was silent as she wrapped her small arms around her knees.
Feng Tianyi thought that she would be happy once they saved the birds, but the girl didn't utter a single word or thanks to him once they were done. Seeing that the clouds above were becoming heavier, indicating a rain pour soon, Feng Tianyi sat up and looked at the child next to him.
"Come on. I'm taking you home. Where do you live, little girl?" He asked. He also needed to go back to his godfather's rest house before the rain fell. He didn't want to get caught in the rain and get sick because of it.
"I don't want to go home." The little girl said in a low voice. "My mommy hates me. She will trap me inside the closet again."
Feng Tianyi's eyes widened by her words. Just what kind of mother did this little girl have for her to treat her like that? How can anyone hate a cute little girl like her? Feng Tianyi couldn't understand.
Well, he was the one to talk! Didn't he have an abusive father too? Although his mother had treated him fairly, Feng Tianyi couldn't deny that her bond with him wasn't as strong after he was forced to live alone in the same place with his father and his new family.
But he could not leave her alone here. It would be dangerous for this girl to stay here on her own. Feng Tianyi muttered curses to himself about a.d.u.l.ts being irresponsible of their children. He stood on his feet and extended a hand to the little girl.
"Then come with me. Stay with us for the meantime. You can go home once the storm passes." He told her.
The little girl stared wide eyed at his hand, as if she hadn't expected that he would invite her over in their place.
"But my daddy said I shouldn't go with strangers." She told him.
"Don't you think it's already too late for that, little girl?" He arched a brow at her, pointing the obvious.
The girl bit her lower lip and nodded in understanding. Her best friend had left with her family earlier to do some shopping, leaving her and her father at the estate.
Too bored of being left behind, the young girl decided to have a look around and ended up deep in the woods that separated the estate from the one on the other side of the woods.
"I'm also not allowed to talk to boys." She pressed her forefinger against her chin out of habit. "But since big sister helped me today, I suppose that's alright with my daddy."
"……" Young Master Feng was rendered speechless by the little girl in front of him. Hadn't she realized that she'd been talking to a boy all this time?
The thunder came as a promise of heavy rain. Feng Tianyi and the little girl hurriedly ran to find shelter before the rain started to pour. The icy gray sky restlessly grumbled above them. The thick blackened clouds releasing endless drops of heavy rain.
When big drops of rain suddenly hit the ground, the two children forced their legs to run faster, but with the ground starting to turn soft and muddy, Feng Tianyi struggled to keep up with the little girl's pace.
"Hurry, Big Sister. We are almost there!" The girl called and waved, urging him to run faster.
Big sister? What big sister? Feng Tianyi didn't think his looks were too effeminate just because he allowed his hair to grow longer than usual. He might also a bit skinny compared to other boys but he couldn't believe this girl truly mistook him as a girl!
Young Master Feng gritted his teeth and ran faster, finally catching up with the little girl, who wasn't even panting from the long run they finished.
