Chapter 529 - Troublemakers (3)
It was hard for Feng Tianyi to explain their mother's situation without talking bad about the family that raised her. He also didn't want to ruin the concept of family for the twins. He and Tang Moyu didn't have a nice childhood growing up and they certainly didn't want their children to suffer the same thing they did.
These troublemakers didn't need to experience the same pain of feeling unwanted by their parents. He would make sure of it.
"But why are they mean to Mommy? Did Mommy do something wrong?" Little Star's eyes were now stung with tears, making Feng Tianyi regret talking about the Tang family in front of his children.
"No, Little Star. They just blame Mommy for something that she had no idea of whatsoever. You know, some people refuse to admit they are wrong, so they would rather blame other people for their problems." He explained. "Enough about that, I'm curious as to what gifts you prepared for your mother. May I see?"
Upon hearing his questions, the mood of the little buns immediately changed into an excited one. How could they forget that the day of their mother's return coincided with her thirtieth birthday?
"Auntie Mei brought it back yesterday. Sorry, daddy but I already asked for it to be wrapped when we bought it. But it's really pretty!" Little Star sat up on the bed, bragging to her father. "A handsome uncle at the mall helped me choose Mommy's gift!"
"Really so what did you get for Mommy?" Feng Tianyi propped his elbow to support his head as he looked at his cheerful daughter. Her mood changes so fast, her teary expression earlier was easily forgotten.
"A small music box. I hope she will like it." The little girl said with a wide smile.
"What about you, Baobao? What did you get for her?" Feng Tianyi asked his son, who was obviously already sleepy from their long day. The familiar scent of his mother that still lingered on her pillows was lulling him to sleep.
Xiao Bao yawned and rubbed his right eye before answering him. This was the second night they went to bed past their bedtime and he realized that he couldn't stay awake any longer.
"I got a Sapphire jewelry set for Mommy. Mommy Fen said it was nice, so I bought it." He said sleepily before snuggling next to their father.
"What about you, Daddy? Have you prepared a gift for Mommy?" Little Star asked as she tucked herself on Feng Tianyi's other side, wanting to sleep next to him like her twin brother.
Feng Tianyi only smiled in response, leaning forward to turn off the lamp on the bedside table. In truth, he hadn't thought of and prepared any gift for his wife yet. He had no idea what to give someone who seemed to have everything that she wanted.
As the twins drifted into deep slumber, Feng Tianyi remained awake for a while longer. He only had a day to think of what to give to Tang Moyu before she came back from her business trip.

The morning was bright when Feng Tianyi woke up, his eyes a little bleary as he sat up. His obsidian eyes searched the bed and found the twins already awake, observing him with clear eyes. A smile crossed his lips, his hand stroking Little Star's head affectionately.
"Good morning." He smiled at his children.
"Good morning, Daddy!" Little Star giggled. Since today was Saturday, she and her twin brother didn't need to go to school. She loved weekends because they were able to spend time with their parents throughout the day.
"So what do you want for breakfast?" Feng Tianyi slipped off the bed and turned off the alarm on his phone. He smiled when he saw a short message from his wife early in the morning.
"Can we have waffles, Daddy?" Xiao Bao rubbed his eyes and yawned. His thick hair dishevelled.
"Okay, let's have some breakfast, then we can plan your Mommy's party for tomorrow." Feng Tianyi murmured and opened the door of the bedroom, allowing the twins to step out before he did.
The twins bounced on their feet as they made their way down the stairs and straight to the kitchen. Since Tang Moyu was already aware of the party he and the little buns were planning, there was no need for them to keep it a secret. Although, Feng Tianyi knew that she would rather have a small celebration.
The twins heartily ate their breakfast in a hurry before going back to their room to change their clothes with the help of their nannies. When they came back to look for their father, they saw him seated in front of a blank canvas inside the study.
"What are you doing, Daddy?" Little Star's feet pattered as she went over to her daddy and peaked over the charcoal sticks next to him.
"I'm thinking of what to give to your mommy." Feng Tianyi admitted. "I haven't gotten a gift for her yet."
The twins stood next to each other, their eyes watching intently as their father moved his hand over the white canvas, the black charcoal leaving marks which slowly formed a figure.
"Woah, Daddy! You drew Mommy so well!" Xiao Bao gasped, his hands on Feng Tianyi's t.h.i.g.h as he looked over the charcoal drawing his father made.
"Yes! It's really pretty!" Little Star agreed with him. This was the first time they saw something like this. Their daddy was a really talented person!
It was a portrait of their mother, her long hair framing her beautiful face and the coldness of her empress persona was replaced with a warm smile she only reserved for her loved ones.
Feng Tianyi smiled, carefully avoiding touching his children with the hand holding the charcoal stick. There were so many things he wasn't able to do because of his accident, but he was glad that his hands were spared from it.
