Chapter 535 - Unforgivable (1)
Zhang Jiren snapped his head towards the source of the voice. He was shocked to see the same girl he'd been thinking about recently. As his eyes met the young empress's, he was stunned in his place upon realizing that she had heard him.
Eighteen year old Tang Moyu yawned behind her hand and crossed her legs as she sat alone at the bleachers, a book in her hand indicating that she was studying and slightly dozed off early in the morning.
"Tang Moyu…" Zhang Jiren muttered her name, gaining her attention.
"Oh, you know who I am?" The young empress blinked her sleepiness away.
The young man in front of her let out a low chuckle. Amus.e.m.e.nt flashing in his eyes.
"Who wouldn't have heard about the Student Council President yet?" He recovered easily from his shock and answered Tang Moyu.
Everyone in this school had known about Tang Moyu because not only was she a campus belle, but she also excelled in academics.
It was no wonder their batchmates had voted her as their Student Council President for that year.
While Zhang Jiren was quite popular with the girls in their school, he doubted that the young empress knew who he was. He'd heard that she had politely turned down several boys who had confessed to her.
"I see." Tang Moyu gave him a nod. "Apologies. I didn't mean to disturb your training." She said as she adjusted on a more comfortable position.
"No worries. It's fine. I'm already done for the day." Zhang Jiren replied, taking a clean towel from his sports bag to wipe his sweat.
He hadn't expected to see her or to talk to her this soon after he had just discovered that they might be related to each other.
For a moment, he wondered if this was the reason he couldn't take his eyes away from the very first time he'd seen her.
No, he wasn't attracted to her romantically, but he felt like they were the same kind of kindred souls that understood each other, regardless if Tang Moyu knew him or not.
"What are you doing here, Miss Tang?" Since this was a rare chance to talk to her, Zhang Jiren struck while the iron was hot.
It was still early for students to come to school, so why was Tang Moyu here? In fact, most of the classrooms and the teachers' offices were still closed at this hour.
"The library and the student council room are still closed." Tang Moyu yawned for the second time. "I don't have the keys and I'm waiting for someone."
"Ah, I see." Still, for Tang Moyu to be here this early in the morning, Zhang Jiren was curious as to why she had to be here when he was having an inner turmoil.
He needed to find out who Yan Qiuyu really was and how he was related to her and Tang Moyu. If Tang Moyu was really his sister, he wouldn't be able to forgive Zhang Wuying for tormenting his sister.
As one of the young masters of the Zhang family, Zhang Jiren had received a hefty amount of money for his monthly allowance, but because he was never one to spend lavishly on things he didn't need, he was able to save a significant amount of money from it.
It should be enough to cover the expenses he needed to hire a private investigator. He also needed to be discreet so no one would suspect that he knew something that may put him or Tang Moyu in danger.
Zhang Jiren was preoccupied with his own thoughts when Li Meili arrived, throwing herself on the young empress's l.a.p and wept.
"Moyu, do you really have to leave?" He heard Li Meili asked Tang Moyu. "Can't you decline your admission and attend the same university as I will so we can always be together?"
Zhang Jiren's jaw slacked when he realized what Li Meili was talking about. How could he forget that they were graduating in a few weeks and they would eventually get separated yet again as Tang Moyu would be going overseas to pursue her bachelor's degree.
Fate was just too cruel to him. He lowered his head and clenched his fist on his side. Just as he thought that there was a chance he would be able to reunite with his family, Tang Moyu was about to leave the country for her higher education.
"Meili, it's fine. I think this is a good opportunity for me to stand on my own feet." Tang Moyu brushed Li Meili's hair away from her face, feeling a pang of pain at the thought of needing to leave so soon.
This was the first time they would be parted from each other and she understood why Li Meili was upset over this arrangement her father had set for her.
Li Meili pulled away from her best friend's embrace and dried her tears on her face. It was only then when she realized that they weren't alone and Zhang Jiren was standing a few meters away from them.
Her face flushed from embarrassment as she realized someone witnessed her breakdown. She hadn't noticed Zhang Jiren's presence as she was focused on Tang Moyu.
"I didn't know you are acquainted with the Track and Field's Long AoTian1, Moyu." She commented with a grin.
Tang Moyu closed the book she was reading before she was disturbed by the two and raised a slender brow towards her best friend.
"You know him, Meili?" She asked.
"Huh? How can you not know him, Moyu? Haven't you heard the other girls calling him Long AoTian? He's definitely the definition of their Mr. Perfect."
Zhang Jiren coughed in his hand and looked away shyly. Even though he wasn't sure if she was really his sister, he didn't want to talk about such things in her presence.
"I don't know. I'm sorry." Tang Moyu admitted and rose to her feet, giving Zhang Jiren a side glance. "I apologize again for disturbing you. We'll be going then." means "Perfect". In this case, Zhang Jiren was considered by girls as Mr. Perfect.
