Chapter 618 - The Tang Siblings (1)
Two weeks had easily passed. While Feng Tianyi's family was busy moving from Peach Blossom Garden to Feng Estate, Tang Beixuan had been preoccupied with work at Zhang Corporation while trying to find the perfect ring he would use to propose to Li Meili once she returned from Beijing.
Although he knew that his mother would surely go against his decision to marry the love of his life, Tang Beixuan had made up his mind to marry Li Meili. He only needed to wait for Li Meili to finish her entry for the competition… and for the results to come out. Whether she wins or not, he would make sure to put a ring on her finger, claiming his stake on her.
How could he not know that Li Meili was starting to think about settling down soon? With her friends getting married and expecting a child one after another, Tang Beixuan could only watch Li Meili sport a smile in public, congratulating them.
It also hadn't gone unnoticed to him how her parents had been persistently trying to set her up for an arranged marriage. If Li Meili hadn't begged him not to confront her parents, he would have marched towards them and given them a piece of his mind.
That day, Tang Beixuan hurriedly finished his workload for the day, intending to leave early. However, even before he could unlock his car in the deserted parking space of the company, his phone rang loudly inside his coat.
He g.r.o.a.n.e.d to himself and pulled out his phone, his expression turned from annoyance to one with surprise. It was his eldest sister, Tang Wanyu, who was calling him.
"Wan Jie? What is it?" he answered hurriedly, not wanting to make his sister wait for too long.
"Beixuan, are you free now? I just came back. I'm here in the airport, but Moyu couldn't pick me up," Tang Wanyu said from the other line.
Tang Wanyu had been out of the country ever since she divorced her husband, even before Tang Beixuan managed to finish his studies and return home. She only came back just now, with the intention of helping with Tang Moyu's wedding preparations and attending it after.
"Oh! Moyu Jie is busy preparing to move out with Big Bro and the little buns. I thought your flight was tomorrow?" he replied, unlocking the door of his passenger seat, throwing his things inside.
"I overlooked the date. I almost missed it." Tang Wanyu confessed, her tone with a hint of embarrassment in it.
"I just finished my shift. I'll be there in an hour. Would you be able to wait?" he asked, shaking his head at his sister's shyness. It was really hard to tell that he, Tang Wanyu, and his Moyu Jie were siblings; given how different their personalities were.
Anyway, it seemed like he had to reschedule his ring hunting for now and see his eldest sister. She was supposed to stay with his Moyu Jie and Big Bro temporarily, but Tang Beixuan doubted that the two were done moving.
"It's okay, Beixuan. I can wait," Tang Wanyu replied from the other line. She had no choice but to wait anyway. She was afraid to meet other people who were acquainted with her ex-husband. She could only trust her siblings for now.
If it wasn't for her younger sister having a wedding ceremony with Feng Tianyi, she wouldn't even bother to return here. Tang Wanyu had to admit that, though that she wasn't surprised with the news of Tang Moyu getting married, she was shocked to find out that the Qin Jiran her sister was dating for some time before was none other than Feng Tianyi himself.
Tang Beixuan cut the phone call, intending to drive towards the airport to see his sister. However, it seemed that he already ran out of luck that day because his car refused to start no matter how many times he tried to press the button.
'Huh? That's weird. The battery still had power, and the fuel is not yet empty. Why would it refuse to start?' He wondered as he stood outside his car.
It was at that moment that Zhang Jiren came alone with car keys in his hand. He was a bit tired from working long hours these days and had decided to come home early when he saw Tang Beixuan having troubles with his car.
Although he initially disliked Tang Beixuan, Zhang Jiren had to admit that his cousin wasn't so bad himself. Tang Beixuan never complained about his work and, in fact, was being proactive and cooperated well with his colleagues.
"What's wrong? I thought you already went home?" he asked Tang Beixuan. The latter had left the office earlier than him.
"Hmm. I'm not sure. My car won't just start. I guess I would have to call the repair shop to tow it from here," Tang Beixuan said with annoyance.
Seeing his troubled expression, Zhang Jiren couldn't help but be curious. After all, even though he didn't like Tang Beixuan for taking his place as the empress's brother, he had to admit that this guy was the best resource he could have if he wanted to keep an eye on her.
"Yes, you should do that." He nodded in agreement. "But you look like you're in a hurry. Going somewhere?"
If he gave Tang Beixuan a lift, would there be a chance he would be able to see his sister? No matter how busy he was these days, Zhang Jiren kept being worried about Tang Moyu's safety.
"I actually need to pick up my eldest sister at the airport. Moyu Jie has just messaged me to pick her up and bring her to Peach Blossom Garden." Tang Beixuan sighed, running his fingers through his thick hair in frustration. Of all the days, why would his car refuse to cooperate with him today?
"I can give you a lift if you like. I haven't seen Cousin Wanyu for a while," Zhang Jiren offered.
