Chapter 637 - I Owe You Nothing (1)
The quarterly shareholders' meeting of the Feng Conglomerate finally came around. Some of the shareholders were expecting to see the newlyweds, Feng Tianyi and Tang Moyu, to attend today, but apparently, only the empress came with her assistant that morning, taking a seat in the corner as she waited for the meeting to commence.
The news about Tang Moyu suddenly gaining shares had surprised everyone and they wondered if Tang Moyu would be actively involved with Feng Conglomerate again. They couldn't wait to see if the empress would be able to pull another miracle for the company.
Who hadn't heard of how she successfully saved Tang Enterprise from the brink of bankruptcy and single handedly destroyed it overnight? After she left the company in shambles, many companies tried to recruit the empress to join their side, but she turned down every offer she received as she had chosen to start her own company with her husband, Feng Tianyi.
The other shareholders took the waiting time as an opportunity to talk to Tang Moyu. The empress only gave them a bland smile and short responses, not giving them any satisfactory answers on whether or not she planned to join the Feng Conglomerate's top management team.
Plus, how could they let this chance slip by to finally get acquainted with Tang Moyu? They weren't sure how good her relationship with the Empress Dowager was, but if Tang Moyu was close with Song Huifen, perhaps they would be able to convince the two to consider other business ventures outside Feng Conglomerate.
"Don't be mistaken, good gentlemen. I came here due to my husband's request. Nothing else." She told them with her ever impassive cold facial expression, which was true, because if it was her, she wouldn't bother to come here and waste her time looking at Feng Tianhua's face.
She came here for the sole purpose of analyzing the current situation in the Feng Conglomerate for her husband. Feng Tianyi had always wanted to regain what he had lost to his father and half-brother, but he needed a good opening and strategy to gain an upper hand against Feng Tianhua.
As for why he chose to force his half-brother to put the shares under her name, Tang Moyu had no doubt that her husband only wanted to spite his younger brother. She truly found it childish and could only roll her eyes at Feng Tianyi's absurdity. The two can't really be civil with each other, can't they?
Her conversation with the other shareholders was immediately put to a halt when Feng Tianhua entered, indicating that the meeting was about to start. Everyone went back to their proper seats and opened the folders they received from Feng Tianhua's assistant.
"It's good that everyone's here." He said, purposely avoiding mentioning his older brother. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on Tang Moyu, who had chosen to ignore him completely. She lazily rested the side of her face over the back of her right hand as she read the doc.u.ments that were passed to her. Her hair cascading in smooth waves over her shoulder.
Feng Tianhua's jaws hardened before he decided to commence the meeting at once. He thought that Tang Moyu had come today to oppose him, humiliate him once again in front of everyone, but the empress remained silent throughout the meeting. Even the other shareholders were disappointed that Tang Moyu didn't voice her opinion or provide any suggestions regarding the issues the company was facing.
To be fair, most of the problems that the Feng Conglomerate was currently facing were ones that Tang Moyu had already anticipated several years ago. Wasn't this the reason why she had made multiple precautionary measures along the way? Well, that was before Feng Tianhua kicked her out of the company.
Looking at the number of projects that were withdrawn since her departure from Feng Conglomerate, she was surprised that the majority of partners she had signed on with Feng Conglomerate were the first ones to withdraw their support from the company.
Tang Moyu wasn't sure why they did it, but if the reason was that she wasn't the person in charge of the projects for Feng Conglomerate, then it was only natural that they didn't hold such confidence over Feng Tianhua's performance.
"M-Miss Tang, what do you think?" Someone had mustered enough courage to ask the empress's opinion.
"Hn?" Tang Moyu lifted her eyes and realized that everyone was looking at her with anticipating eyes. She fought the urge to roll her eyes as she thought of how naive these people were to actually expect something from her.
She lowered her eyes in an attempt to hide the sudden annoyance that flashed through them.
"I'm sorry, but why do I need to answer this?" She asked in response, her tone laced with sarcasm.
"Didn't I already anticipate that most of these problems would arise sooner or later? I've already proposed several measures to prevent it six years ago. weren't you were the first one to oppose it and even forced me to come up with a better idea. Now, you expect me to give my thoughts and want to rely on me once again? Please." She paused as she let out a low chuckle. "Gentlemen, you are better than this."
Those people who had been in the company when Tang Moyu was in charge couldn't help but be ashamed of themselves. What Tang Moyu said was right. Back then, the company was flourishing so fast and the steady flow of income was enough to make everyone high from it.
One reason for it was Feng Tianhua had been considering removing the empress from her post because she was gaining too much attention and praises from everyone. Her light was so bright that it was enough to cast a dark shadow over him.
"So forgive me if I refuse to share my opinion today. It isn't that I'm purposely making it hard for Feng Tianhua and the company, but I wanted to see if you can stand on your own without me."
