Chapter 643 - I Dont Deserve You (2)
There's only a week left before she officially leaves the Yun Group, yet Su Jingyi felt that time was passing by too fast for her liking. No matter how she tried to convince herself that she would get used to not seeing Yun Zhen anymore, she couldn't help but feel down when she thought of not being with him anymore.
'Ha. How pathetic could you be, Su Jingyi? Still thinking about him when you should be worrying about your future.' She told herself as she stared heavenward outside the window of her office, the one that she had used for the past few years.
It was almost time for her to leave this place. Su Jingyi had so many memories here and had gained quite a few friends she could rely on, including Yun Zhen, but the thought of being free from the pain he had unknowingly inflicted on her sounds enticing. She was the one at fault here, since she was the one who caught feelings for him over time.
Ever since the night when Yun Zhen proposed to her on her doorstep, the man had been avoiding her subtly. He also never gave her an answer to her question, as to why she should marry him. Others might not be able to notice it, but for Su Jingyi who had known their boss for over a decade, she knew that what transpired that night was the reason why he was acting like this.
Ah, she was the one being proposed to, but why was Yun Zhen the one acting like she was the one who made him uncomfortable? Shouldn't she be the one acting unusually right now and not him?
Anyway, Su Jingyi couldn't do anything for him anymore. He would have to suck it up and accept that she was leaving. Not that he would be able to give her a decent answer to why she should marry him anyway.
"Director Su?" She heard her assistant calling her. Su Jingyi looked over her shoulder and crossed her arms over her c.h.e.s.t.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Chairman Yun has summoned you and President Yun." Her assistant replied, to which she only responded with a nod. Most of the responsibilities she had were now passed to the new director that would replace her. Chairman Yun might just want a word with her.
Su Jingyi didn't waste any time and went straight to the Chairman's office. Inside, she saw that Yun Zhen was already there, seated across the old man who had a gentle smile on his face. The moment Su Jingyi stepped in, Yun Zhen unconsciously stiffened on his seat.
"Ah, Jingyi. Take a seat. I hope this old man hasn't disturbed your work." Chairman Yun said as he watched Su Jingyi take a seat next to his grandson. The two looked at each other before Yun Zhen avoided her gaze the moment their eyes met.
Su Jingyi fought the urge not to roll her eyes and not to smack Yun Zhen's head for being a blockhead. If Chairman Yun wasn't in front of them, she wouldn't bother to waste her time and would confront Yun Zhen on the spot.
"Jinyi, there's only one week left. Are you really sure about this? Can't we change your mind?" The old man didn't bother beating around the bush and voiced his concern.
"I apologize, Chairman Yun. There's nothing keeping me from leaving here." She replied to the old man in all honesty. As much as she enjoyed everyone's company here in Shenzhen, there were times that Su Jingyi felt that she was alone.
Chairman Yun looked at his grandson and Su Jingyi. These two got along so well that he had thought that they would never part ways and would end up being together. He thought that in due time, Yun Zhen would be able to take Miss Su as his bride. So why was Su Jingyi leaving now to find another man to marry instead?
Where did they go wrong? Why was his grandson allowing Su Jingyi to leave even though it was obvious that he cannot be without her?
"Is that so?" Chairman Yun clasped his hands together and regarded Yun Zhen, who remained silent since Su Jingyi's arrival. Su Jingyi was saying that nothing's keeping her here, did that mean if she found a decent reason to stay, she wouldn't have to leave anymore?
Su Jingyi was subtly giving Yun Zhen a chance to redeem himself, but why wasn't he doing anything to stop her from leaving? Seeing that his grandson wasn't planning on rectifying the situation, Chairman Yun could only sigh in dismay. It couldn't be helped if Yun Zhen wasn't willing to make a move to persuade Su Jingyi to stay. If he wouldn't do it for the company, at least do it for himself.
Hadn't he sacrificed enough for the company? He and Su Jingyi had worked hard all of these years to get where they were now. Wasn't it time for them to be selfish and focus on their happiness and future?
Well, it was clear that Su Jingyi was thinking about that. If she hadn't, she wouldn't suddenly decide to marry a stranger that her parents had arranged for her. As for what Yun Zhen planned to do once she left, neither Chairman Yun nor Yun Ling had any idea.
Yun Zhen had been acting weird these past weeks and it was enough for them to be worried about him. They feared that he would do something reckless once Su Jingyi wasn't around anymore and that he wouldn't come back to his senses.
"If Chairman Yun is still worried about the responsibilities I'll be leaving behind, rest assured that Director Lu is ready to take over my position." Su Jingyi said, knowing what the old man was thinking at that moment.
