Chapter 831 - Betrayal (1)
Tang Moyu almost jolted from her seat in shock. A heavy feeling in her stomach made her uncomfortable in her seat. Her reaction was something Feng Tianyi had expected. She couldn't believe it. Of all people, he was the least person she had to suspect to get involved with her birth mother.
What the hell was he doing here? How come her Grandfather Tang was there? Would this mean that he was aware of what happened to her mother all this time? Her eyes stung with tears, her whole body trembled as her focus zeroed on the man on the screen.
The feeling of betrayal that washed through her was too intense for the empress. Her grandfather had been there all those times, watching and not doing anything as Zhang Wuying mentally and emotionally tortured them when she was younger, telling her to become a filial daughter and listen to the woman she thought was her birth mother.
'Listen to your mother, Yu'er.'
'You have to understand your mother. I know it's not your fault.'
The video continued to play on the screen, but Tang Moyu couldn't see it clearly as her eyes shone with unshed tears. This was one of the reasons why Feng Tianyi was hesitant to tell her because he already knew this would happen.
The baby in Yan Qiuyu's arms had been taken forcefully by another man, whom Tang Moyu recognized as Zhang Xianzhe. The man was in his early thirties, his face one with hesitation as he looked at Yan Qiuyu.
Yan Qiuyu reached out her arms, wanted to take back the child from him, but she was stopped by another man. Tang Moyu didn't need to be told that the child was none other than her twin brother, Tang Lingjun but what confused her was why they were in that place when the incident report said that Yan Qiuyu was killed in their home, not outside.
The person, who was holding the recorder, scampered away in fear but even before he could run away, the camera caught Elder Tang pointing a gun towards Yan Qiuyu with a loud gunshot resonating around the area. Whoever took this video was surely terrified by what he'd witnessed, as he didn't bother to turn off the recorder he was holding as he fled from the scene.
When the video reached its end only showing a white screen on the television, Feng Tianyi took a seat on the armchair next to where his wife was seated. He wanted to draw her in his arms and assure her that everything would be alright.
"Moyu…" He was worried that she would be hysterical after seeing the recording. When Zhang Jiren had first seen it, the man couldn't stop himself from shedding some tears as he found out the truth about Yan Qiuyu's death.
It turned out that Zhang Xianzhe really had a part in their mother's death and the one responsible for her death was no other than the patriarch of the Tang family. Tang Lixue had no idea that it was his own father who ruined not only his family but also his life.
"Since when do you know?" Tang Moyu's voice was so low; Feng Tianyi almost missed it if he wasn't seated near her.
"About a month or so." He didn't dare to lie this time.
"And Jiren? Does he know about this?"
"He's the one who went back to Nanjing to get this evidence." Feng Tianyi held his breath, waiting for his wife's outburst. He would understand if she would be upset with him since he had kept this information from her for some time. However, what he hadn't expected was Tang Moyu breaking down in tears.
"Moyu!" The devil jolted from his seat and sat next to his wife on the couch with a panicked expression in his face, not knowing how he should placate his pregnant wife.
Tang Moyu hadn't cried like this since Tang Beixuan's death, and seeing her shed tears like this broke Feng Tianyi's heart. If his wife hadn't crushed the Tang family before, Feng Tianyi would have done it himself.
Tang Moyu thought that when she disposed of the Tang Enterprise and ruined the Tang family years ago, they wouldn't be able to hurt her anymore. How wrong she was! The person who killed her birth mother, the person who'd continued to watch in silence as Zhang Wuying hurt her, and the reason why she had returned from overseas was none other than her own grandfather.
"So much for being a filial granddaughter," Tang Moyu spat venomously as she continued to shed tears over this betrayal from Elder Tang, the man she held respect for when she was younger.
"It's not your fault, Moyu." Feng Tianyi's anger towards the Tang family rose every second he saw his wife crying. After all the things Tang Moyu did for the sake of her family, how could they betray her and Tang Lingjun like this?
"So this is what you and my brother have been doing these past weeks?" Tang Moyu asked him, once she finally calmed down. It now made sense to him why Feng Tianyi was always on the phone talking to her twin brother.
Feng Tianyi flinched at that but since Tang Moyu already knew then there was no point in denying anymore. The hardest part was done, and at least, Tang Moyu didn't go berserk once finding out the truth.
"When I started taking over the management of Xiao Xing since you left, we received some anonymous email on our private server. We initially thought someone was just spamming us with unsolicited emails, trying to get your attention," he started to explain.
"You mean the emails are all addressed to me?" She furrowed her brows in confusion.
It wasn't the first time someone tried to reach her out on email but it was usually just random stuff and indecent proposals from disgusting males wanting to make her their mistress. Usually, their IT department would filter spam, but it was able to get Feng Tianyi's attention, it only meant it was a serious matter.
