Chapter 833 - In the Palm of the Devil’s Hand (1)
Zhang Jiren didn't know how to make his sister feel better. Perhaps, he was lucky that he never knew the old man personally. Well, it was obvious that Elder Tang wanted him dead, so it only made him look despicable in Zhang Jiren's opinion.
He already expected that Tang Moyu would once again face the family that forsaken her years ago. Just as she thought that she had enough of the Tang family, the issue about Yan Qiuyu's death had dragged them back to spite her.
"Do you have any plans?" He asked his twin sister. If Tang Moyu decided to go and have an all-out war against the Tang family, he was willing to give her a hand.
Tang Moyu lowered her eyes. To be honest, she thought that she already had enough with the Tang family. To think that she would once again see that old man, she wasn't sure what to do this time. She told Feng Tianyi that she would deal with her grandfather herself, but in reality, she just didn't want her husband to get involved with her family issues any longer.
Seeing the complex emotions in her eyes, Zhang Jiren didn't dare to ask her further. He understood that she hadn't still had some attachment to the old man, and that's why she was hesitant to make a move.
"I know I should be angry at him— hate him for what he'd done to our family. But I'm tired, Jiren." Tang Moyu sighed and rested her forehead on her hand.
"Tired? What do you mean?" Zhang Jiren couldn't understand. Why would his sister say something like this? What was she tired of?
"Jiren, you and I have a family to protect now. Do you know why I didn't go all out in my revenge when I came back? It's because I would rather protect my children than to lose myself in revenge."
"But our parents lost their chances and family because of him—them! If we don't seek justice for our mother, wouldn't that mean that we are just letting them off?" Zhang Jiren seethed in anger. Their birth mother's last moments he'd seen in the video played in his mind.
Yan Qiuyu's desperate face, as she begged Zhang Xianzhe to give back her son, was something Zhang Jiren couldn't forget. How could he just let that old man go? He didn't care if he was his grandfather, because what the old man did was unforgivable. No amount of apologies would be enough to compensate for the years and chances the old man deprived him to be with his family.
Tang Moyu looked at her twin brother, her lips pressed into a thin line. It wasn't like she didn't want to seek justice for their parents. She was just worried if seeking revenge would be worth it if the safety of their loved ones would be compromised. She had already lost Tang Beixuan because of revenge. If she was to lose her family, Tang Moyu knew that she would be nothing without them.
However, she also understood why her brother was acting like this. The suffering they endured from childhood was not something they could easily forget. Just the thought of what Zhang Jiren went through alone was enough for Tang Moyu's blood to boil with anger.
"I understand…" She put her hand on top of his, giving it a slight squeeze to assure him. "We'll see the end of this together," she promised him. There was no way she would allow Zhang Jiren to bear all their problems on his own.
"You spared him when you kicked out the other Tang family members from their estate. Do you regret it now?" Zhang Jiren asked her. How could he not know that Tang Moyu spared the old man and allowed him to live in a small villa away from Shenzhen.
"If I had known before that he's the person who killed our mother, I wouldn't spare him at all," the empress said truthfully. She allowed their grandfather to live in the countryside because she thought that he didn't need to suffer hardsh.i.p.s in his old age. How wrong she was!
"It's not too late, Moyu Jie. Do you want to put him behind bars? If your husband hasn't told you yet, we plan to reveal the video during the founding celebration of Zhang Corporation," her brother told her.
"I see…" Tang Moyu nodded. That only meant that they needed to confront their grandfather before he was taken away by the authorities. She wondered if Elder Tang felt regret or guilt for what he'd done. But even if he did, wasn't it too late to say sorry now?
While it's true that Elder Tang didn't hurt her and had treated her with kindness, he had done nothing to save her from Zhang Wuying. His kindness couldn't cover up the fact that he sacrificed his own son to secure the future of the Tang family.
How many lives had been ruined because of his choice? Elder Tang not only sacrificed his son's happiness, but also denied Tang Moyu and Tang Lingjun a family and life they both deserved.
Tang Moyu was not an all-forgiving person, and she understood what was right from wrong. The fact that Elder Tang was their grandfather made his sin all the more despicable and unforgivable in her opinion.
"Keep a low profile for now and stay at home with Meili and Leyan. I'm sure the media would try to reach you." At least her brother finally had a family and happiness he deserved in this life.
Zhang Jiren nodded in agreement. That was his plan after all. He and Feng Tianyi already set up an anonymous email account to send the illegal activities the Zhang family got involved over the years.
Even if he died on the operating table, Zhang Jiren wouldn't have any regrets as long as Feng Tianyi would be able to guarantee that he would send the Zhang family to their imminent destruction.
While Zhang Liang thought that everything was in his hands now, he had no idea that the law enforcement was about to seize the evidence they needed to catch them all. Zhang Jiren's eyes flashed with such coldness comparable to the empress.
