Chapter 840 - You Reap What You Sow (2)
It was hard for Tang Moyu to stay calm upon seeing their grandfather. Even if she was mad, a part of her didn't want to believe that he was the one responsible for all the suffering her family endured for years.
As she left the detention facility with Zhang Jiren, she didn't utter a single word until he dropped her off at Peach Blossom Garden. She wasn't that heartless, after all. People might think that she was cold and unfeeling but when it came to her family, Tang Moyu was willing to do anything to protect and care for them.
So for her to send her own grandfather to jail, keeping him there for the rest of his remaining years still affected her somehow. If it was because she had some attachment to the Tang family, Tang Moyu wasn't sure. They shared the family name, yet, she truly didn't feel like she had a family growing up.
Her twins noticed her foul mood so they didn't dare question her about what just happened but they were glad to see their Uncle Jiren today.
They came just on time for dinner. Li Meili and Zhang Leyan stayed with the Fengs while Tang Moyu and Zhang Jiren went to meet Zhang Xianzhe and their grandfather earlier.
"Uncle Jiren, can Leyan stay with us tonight for a sleepover?" Little Star asked, ignoring the smear of chocolate on her chin as she grinned at her uncle. "I promise Yu Gege and I would look after her."
Zhang Jiren glanced at his wife who was keeping their daughter seated on her l.a.p. When it came to Leyan, he never dared make a decision for her.
"I think you should ask your Auntie Meili instead of me, Little Star," he answered his niece. "Leyan is too young for a sleepover, don't you think?"
Zhang Leyan was only one year old and she still needed Li Meili's attention and care. She also needed to be tucked in bed on time or else she would be cranky the next day. But as Zhang Jiren looked at her niece, he started to wonder since when did Little Star manage to win his heart that he didn't want to deny her request anymore.
Li Meili looked at him then to her best friend who was visibly upset on her seat. This should be a happy occurrence as they rarely get together and complete as a family.
"En, like what your Uncle Jiren said, Leyan is too young for a sleepover, Little Star," Feng Tianyi agreed with his brother-in-law. "And the nursery isn't still ready to use."
Little Star's face fell and nodded in understanding which made Feng Tianyi feel guilty for making her sad.
"But that doesn't mean your Uncle Jiren and Auntie Mei can't join her tonight." Feng Tianyi sighed inwardly. No wonder his wife had been scolding him constantly for excessively spoiling their children.
"Really?" The girl's face brightened up and looked expectantly towards her aunt and uncle. "Auntie Mei, please stay for the night! I wanna play more with Leyan!" she insisted. Until her mommy gave birth to their baby sibling, she and her brother needed to get used to having a baby around.
While the twins were preoccupied with excitement that night, Tang Moyu remained detached from the people around them. She allowed Feng Tianyi who drew her into his embrace as she wept in silence inside their bedroom.
This should be the last time she would shed tears because of the Tang family. Now, more than ever, she only wanted to live happily with her family and see her brother live his life to the fullest. Still, she couldn't believe how convenient the recording fell into Feng Tianyi's hands. Just what did her husband do to have it?
"You want to ask me something." Feng Tianyi said once she ceased her crying. "You only need to ask, Moyu."
"I don't understand how…" She didn't want to think that they only got lucky.
"You mean the recording? It hasn't been easy, Moyu. The emails that were addressed to you weren't simple ones. While the recording is an authentic one, the person who had it before is a crook. The person who took the recording was his elder brother who passed away from an accident," Feng Tianyi explained.
If it was Tang Moyu who spoke with that person, she would never accept the ridiculous condition of his deal. The empress might want to know the truth behind her mother's death but there was no assurance that the recording was real so Feng Tianyi had to intervene.
"I heard that his old man tried to extort some money from your father before but Tang Lixue denied him and threatened him that he would put him behind jail himself."
"So the son followed his old man's footsteps and tried to see if he could get some money from me? He must be crazy to assume that I will give him what he wants," Tang Moyu scoffed. She wasn't that desperate. It was too bad that whoever that man was had to face her husband instead.
"So what did you do then?" She asked her husband curiously, who sported a smile telling her that he had the last laugh.
"He tried to extort money and threaten you. How could I stay still and do nothing?" Feng Tianyi smiled evilly and shrugged. "I showed him what extortion and blackmail really feels like. He scampered away in fear, promising not to show himself ever again."
"Poor him. How could he try to outsmart you, darling? He would never win." She patted the side of his face. When it came to threatening and pressuring other people to do his bidding, Tang Moyu didn't know anyone who could be as outrageous as her husband.
But she was glad and thankful she had Feng Tianyi by her side. Tang Moyu didn't think she would be able to stay calm and strong like this if it wasn't for him. Now that the truth about Yan Qiuyu's death had been uncovered, Tang Moyu knew it was time for her to move forward.
