Chapter 868 - Extra Story: The Villainess Wants to Fall in Love (2)
Finally, after so many days spent driving on the road and sleeping in several hotels and inns at night which greatly cost Tang Zhelan, she was about to arrive in Lijiang City. Entering Lijiang was like stepping into a fairytale in Tang Zhelan's opinion.
Far from the busy streets and economic metropolises, it was no wonder Zhao Feng refused to leave the place where his family came from and stayed with her in Shenzhen for good. However, from what Tang Zhelan heard, unlike the tradition of the Tang family, the society here in Lijiang was mainly run by women and the mother's passed their inheritances to their daughters rather than sons.
From where she was, she could see the Jade Dragon Mountain. It was a crisp and sunny winter day in December and she couldn't believe that the scenery here was better in person than seeing them in photographs from travel magazines and sites.
Lijiang boasted spectacular natural scenery, including snowy mountains, highland glacial lakes, and majestic canyons, making it a great place for outdoor activity lovers. It was also a healthy place to escape city stress, which drew a large number of visitors from bustling metropolises.
Tang Zhelan admired the deep green blue pool with the mountain rising in the background crowned with snow late December. No wonder many tourists had praised this attraction. The mountain played peekaboo as one walked through the old town and seemed like a watchful guardian of the town. The streams gurgled from the Dragon Pool in the town.
She arrived at the outskirts of the city and stopped in front of an inn with old signage. Tang Zhelan furrowed her brows as she alighted from her car. She stood there for a moment, wondering if she was in the right place.
"I'm not lost, right?" she muttered to herself, checking her phone once more to make sure she arrived at the right place. The map said it was right and even the coordinates Zhao Feng gave her pointed her here.
Just as she was about to give Zhao Feng a call, sounds of laughter coming from a girl reached her ears. A young girl of eight came wearing a traditional dress and cape to protect her from cold. She was running towards Tang Zhelan's direction in a hurry, not looking where she was going.
Tang Zhelan was able to steady the child, forbidding her to stumble on the ground. The girl looked at her in shock and realized her mistake for running into her.
"Zhao Jing, you better come back here!" A familiar voice reached Tang Zhelan and she lifted her head up, only to see Zhao Feng coming out of the front door of the inn in a hurry holding a broom with a long wooden handle.
The man stopped in his tracks and stared at her with wide eyes as if he was shocked to see her standing there holding his niece. Two years had passed since they'd seen each other and Tang Zhelan felt that Zhao Feng aged well since the last time she'd seen him.
Tang Zhelan helped the girl get back on her feet and regarded Zhao Feng.
"So I am in the right place," she said, breaking the silence between them. "It's nice to see you again, Zhao Feng."
"Miss! You should have given me a call! I thought you wouldn't arrive till three days later." Zhao Feng hurriedly dropped the broom he was holding and brushed off the dirt from his clothes.
Tang Zhelan shook her head and smiled. There were just things that remained the same. She hadn't thought that she also missed the goofy smile he always sported and realized that he also looked good in other clothes aside from his butler uniform back in Shenzhen.
Meanwhile, the girl who was standing next to Tang Zhelan looked at her in awe. The girl named Zhao Jing admired Tang Zhelan's pretty face.
Tang Zhelan's eyes were sharp like a fox's eyes. In contrast with Tang Moyu's long wavy hair, Tang Zhelan sported a thick gray bob haircut which was chic and charming at the same time. The small mole next to her lips only made her charming in one's eyes but the domineering presence swirling around her was enough to tell people she wasn't someone they could trifle with.
However, none of these were enough for Zhao Jing to stop admiring Tang Zhelan. She had heard things about her from her uncle but she'd never thought that their guest would be this pretty. Her eyes sparkled in delight as if she was seeing her idol in person.
Zhao Jing stepped back and clasped her hands together, a wide smile blooming on her face.
"Hello, Miss Tang. I'm Zhao Jing. I've heard things about you," she said in greeting.
Tang Zhelan regarded the girl for a moment then eyed Zhao Feng. What could be this man telling his niece for Zhao Jing to smile like this at her?
"Oh? I hope it's only nice things." She arched a slender brow to her ex-butler who was awkwardly rubbing his neck. Was she seeing things or Zhao Feng had a slight blush on his face?
"En!" The girl exclaimed. "My uncle said that his Miss is really pretty and kind. Are you here to visit my uncle?" Zhao Jing asked. She knew that his uncle returned to Lijiang for her sake and her nana and had been curious as to what kind of life he had when he was still living in a big city like Shenzhen.
Tang Zhelan pressed her lips in a thin line, suppressing her frown to be apparent on her face. She'd been used to hearing people call her pretty but she never heard anyone describe her as a kind person.
If someone was to ask to describe her, Tang Zhelan was sure that they would say and claim she was too arrogant and domineering. She was also selfish and didn't have empathy for the people around her.
Pretty and kind? She repeated what Zhao Jing told her inwardly.
