Chapter 884 - Specials: Growing Fond of You (1)
Timeline: Two months since Feng Tianyi moved to Peach Blossom Garden.
It was yet another morning; Feng Tianyi started his day before the sun was up. He went to the small kitchen of the guest house and brewed some black coffee before checking the fridge for ingredients he could use to make his breakfast.
As he glanced at the clock hanging on the wall in the living area, he realized that it would take another two and a half hours before Tang Moyu's little buns came here to accompany him throughout the day. It should be enough time for him to have his breakfast and write the manuscript of his newest book.
After having a quick breakfast and cleaning his work table, Feng Tianyi spent the next two hours in front of his laptop, his fingers typing in fast over the keyboard as his mind filled with the ideas that had been keeping him awake for days now. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this kind of motivation to finish something until he met the Tang twins.
When the clock hit eight in the morning, he stopped and tidied up the place as he waited for the twins to arrive. His days might be repetitive and predictable, but at least it wasn't boring, and he wasn't alone anymore.
He always looked forward to seeing the smiling faces of the twins in the morning, hearing them laugh as they played at the mini garden that he started with them. Feng Tianyi never thought he would enjoy the children's company, as he spent more time with the twins.
It didn't take long for Feng Tianyi to wait, as he heard the front door of the guest house open and the pattering footsteps of the twins as they ran in the hallways, trying to find him.
"Uncle Ji! Uncle Ji! We are here! Where are you, Uncle Ji?!" Little Star's excited voice rang within the guest house.
"I'm here!" Feng Tianyi called back as he was forced to wheel himself out of the kitchen to welcome the twins.
"Good morning, Uncle Ji!" Little Star ran towards him and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
Today, Little Star's long hair was tied into pigtails, keeping it away from her lovely face. Her smooth white skin looked healthy under the morning light with her light pink summer dress made her look more adorable than usual.
Beside her stood her twin brother, Xiao Bao who yawned behind his hand, trying to blink away his sleepiness. He was dressed casually today with a white shirt with a blue whale on it and navy blue shorts that reached his knees. On top of his head was a blue cap he usually had whenever they went outside to tend to their crops, watering them.
"Morning, Uncle Ji," he greeted their Uncle Ji.
"Good morning. Have you had your breakfast yet?" Feng Tianyi asked, though he already knew the answer to his question. The twins rarely joined him for breakfast and would spend it with their mother back at the main house.
"En! We accompanied Mommy for breakfast. She said that she won't need to go to work today, so she'll be staying at home," Little Star answered.
Feng Tianyi furrowed his brow and wondered why she hadn't come to see him today. Not like he was expecting her to get acquainted with him, but it was hard to see or talk to her for the past few days and wondered if she had already discovered his real identity as Feng Tianyi. He would be lucky if he could get a glimpse of her talking to her twins before she left for work.
"I see…"? What else could he say? If Tang Moyu didn't want to see him nor talk to him, he could never force her.
Although he and the Tang family lived on the same compound, it didn't guarantee that he would be able to get close to the empress. The main house was a bit far from the guest house where he currently resided and with Tang Moyu's hectic schedule, it was almost impossible to have a word with her.
The little buns always came with Auntie Lu, watching over them as the two accompanied him, spending the whole day with him. Feng Tianyi understood that the only reason Tang Moyu tolerated his presence was because of her children and the business deal he'd made with her. If anything, he was sure she wouldn't spare him a glance if her twins weren't involved with him.
He wouldn't be surprised if she decided to kick him out of her house once she paid back the amount she owed him, regardless of what the twins would think of it.
He pressed his lips into a thin line and hummed. Feng Tianyi couldn't really say that he wasn't disappointed for not seeing her, but he also couldn't explain why her absence irked him anyway. Tang Moyu was home, yet she chose to work instead of coming here to see him and accompany her children.
The more he thought about it, the more Feng Tianyi wondered if she was avoiding him. The possibility that she knew the truth about his identity made him uncomfortable. While it was true that he had considered using her against his younger brother, his views about her changed the more he knew about her— things that proved that the rumors about her were nothing but lies.
She wasn't like what the public perceived her to be. Tang Moyu wasn't a heartless woman who never cared for anyone except herself. He had seen how she cared deeply about those who were close to her heart.
How could people say she was incapable of love when she was ready to give her all when it came to her children? She was also a good person; her friends could rely on when they needed help.
