Wang Yao had a good look at the boy again. “I think he’s fine now.”
“Thank you. How much should I pay you?” the middle-aged villager asked.
“You don’t need to pay me, sir,” Wang Yao replied.
“Of course I need to pay you,” the villager said.
“Don’t worry about it. By the way, what happened to Zehao?” Wang Yao asked.
“I don’t know. He went out with his mother today and came back like this,” the middle-aged villager said.
“Where have they been?” Wang Yao asked.
“They visited his grandma in Xiya,” the middle-aged villager said after thinking for a moment.
“I see,” Wang Yao said.
After the villager and his son left, Wang Yao closed the clinic and headed to the hills at the west side of the village.
He had already searched this place for poisonous insects, but he hadn’t gone through every bit of it. In addition, Wang Yao was not familiar with the habits of those insects. The poisonous insects had probably invaded the houses in the village. Therefore, it would be more difficult to catch them.
In the end, Wang Yao didn’t find one single insect during the two-hour search at the west side of the village.
Maybe I should ask San Xian to look for the insects, Wang Yao suddenly thought about his dog. Dogs could smell things human being couldn’t.
“Hey, darling, come here. What’s wrong with the lamb?” a female villager said as she was looking at a lamb lying on the ground.
The lamb had been fine in the morning. It suddenly fell onto the ground and was foaming at its mouth.
“Let me take a look.” Her husband came out of the house to check the lamb, but he couldn’t figure out anything wrong with it.
“What did you feed it?” he asked.
“Just hay,” his wife said.
“Hmm, that’s strange,” the man said. Apparently the lamb was dying.
“What can we do about it?” his wife asked.
“If it doesn’t get better by tomorrow, we’ll have to kill it,” her husband replied.
“But, what if it’s sick?” she asked.
“That’s fine. The high temperature will kill anything,” her husband said without thinking.
Wang Yao wanted to bring San Xian down from Nanshan Hill in the evening, but he changed his mind. San Xian was recovering quickly, but he had not fully recovered.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to bring you to the village at the moment,” Wang Yao said.
In order to treat San Xian and Da Xia, Wang Yao applied Muscle Revitalizing powder on their wounds. The powder was offered by the system, so it was extremely effective. Plus, San Xian and Da Xia had stayed in the Spiritual Gathering Battle Array for a long time, so they had become extremely fit. San Xian was almost as big as a small lion, which indicated he was an unusual dog.
Woof! San Xian agreed.
It was peaceful overnight in the village.
Meanwhile, Sun Zhengrong was talking to his son in his son’s house.
“Dad, go home. Don’t worry about me,” Sun Yunsheng said.
“OK, I’ll pay a visit to Dr. Wang tomorrow,” Sun Zhengrong replied.
He had been very busy lately. He had visited a number of people, most of whom were leaders in the local government of the county and city. He had decided to invest $50 million to build a mechanical processing center in Lianshan. Of course, it made the local government officers very happy. As the richest man in Ji Province, Sun Zhengrong attracted a lot of attention. The local government officers were all happy to make friends with him. Such a large amount of investment would make a lot of things easier.
He decided to leave the village, but he wanted to meet Wang Yao before leaving. He didn’t want the vendetta against him to affect his relationship with Wang Yao.
At night, the village was very quiet. The only problem was that a few chickens and ducks died. No one cared about it. More villagers than usual had meat for sale the next day.
“Why did you kill a lamb this time of the year?” a villager asked.
“I’m craving lamb meat,” a male villager said.
“Hey, why did you kill so many chickens?” another villager asked.
“They’ve been singing the whole night. They were too noisy, so I decided not to keep them,” said the villager who had killed several chickens.
It happened often in the village that whoever killed livestock at home often had extra meat available for sale. On this day, almost every household had meat for lunch.
Then, as they were chatting, they thought something was not quite right. It was unusual for so many livestock to die in one night. They all wondered what had happened.
Wang Yao brought San Xian to the village in the morning.
“What the hell is that thing?” Everyone was shocked to see San Xian.
They had seen large dogs but not this large. They thought San Xian was a small lion at first glance.
“Yao, is that your dog?” Someone in the village remembered that Wang Yao had a dog, which was small.
“Yes,” Wang Yao replied.
“I remember your dog used to be a small, yellow one. How did it become so big? What did you feed it?” a villager asked.
“Oh, well, just dog food,” Wang Yao replied.
“Dog food? Which brand?” the villager asked.
Wang Yao thought for a moment. He then told the villager the dog food he usually bought for San Xian in the shop. However, he didn’t think the villager’s dog would grow as big as San Xian even if it ate 20 pounds of dog food per day.
Everyone in the village who saw San Xian asked Wang Yao how the dog had grown so big.
“San Xian, I think we should make a detour,” Wang Yao said. They changed their path to avoid the villagers.
“San Xian, can you help me look for this kind of insect?” Wang Yao showed San Xian the dead poisonous insect he brought with him.
San Xian sniffed the dead insect before starting to search.
Woof! Woof! Woof! He soon found a sparrow’s body, which had become stiff. The sparrow probably was frozen to death. San Xian barked in front of its body.
“Is there anything inside the sparrow?” Wang Yao gently asked.
Woof!
Maybe the dead sparrow had sensed something. Its body started to shake. Wang Yao applied Qi on the sparrow’s body, which immediately split open. A stinky smell came out, followed by several poisonous insects.
Wanna escape? Wang Yao caught the insects and squeezed them. The insects suddenly became powders. Wang Yao checked what was left inside the sparrow and found that most of the organs had been eaten by the insects.
He thought, Those insects can only survive in special environment, like an animal’s body?
“Keep looking,” Wang Yao said.
The findings later on proved Wang Yao’s assumption correct. He found several animal bodies in the field and poisonous insects inside two bodies.
Wang Yao didn’t kill all the insects this time. He left two alive and put them in a glass bottle. He was going to do some experiments on them to study their growth feature.
“Let’s continue,” he said.
A man and a dog walked around the hill the whole morning before returning to Nanshan Hill.
He’s not here. Sun Zhengrong waited for Wang Yao outside the clinic the whole morning, but Wang Yao didn’t show up. He didn’t call Wang Yao. Instead, he decided to come back in the afternoon.
On Nanshan Hill, Wang Yao released the two poisonous insects from the glass bottle. The insects seemed to be scared of him. They tried to escape, but he stopped them with an invisible wall of Qi.
“Don’t rush,” Wang Yao said with a smile. He put the two insects back into the glass bottle.
What do you like? Wang Yao thought for a while. He then gout out a piece of meat. He opened the glass bottle. The insects flew out of the bottle and went into the meat without thinking.
Wang Yao had already known those poisonous insects loved meat. He had another thought, but he couldn’t test it right now.
They love blood and meat, but what are they scared of?
Wang Yao thought for a while. A green leaf appeared in his hand. It was miasma grass, which could get rid of miasma and poisonous insects.
Wang Yao used his Qi to attract the poisonous insects out of the meat. The insects immediately tried to fly away from Wang Yao but didn’t go far. They dropped two feet away from him.
Are they dead? It worked!
He knew why the poisonous insect were afraid of him and why they wouldn’t attack San Xian and Da Xia. Wang Yao and his two friends had spent a lot of time in the herbal field, so they all had special Qi inside them. Those herbs in the field had a special smell, which people probably couldn’t sense, but the smell did exist. For example, the miasma grass had a special smell that stopped the poisonous insect from getting close to it.
“Fortunately I caught another one,” Wang Yao said with a smile.
He bumped into Sun Zhengrong in the afternoon. Sun Zhengrong seemed to have waited for him outside the clinic for a long time.
“Hello, Dr. Wang,” Sun Zhengrong said.
“Hello, Mr. Sun, please come in,” Wang Yao replied.
He invited Sun Zhengrong into the clinic and made him a cup of tea.
“How can I help you?” Wang Yao asked.
“Well, I just want to apologize for the trouble I brought to your village. It was completely my fault. I’m so sorry!” Sun Zhengrong made a serious apology to Wang Yao.
Given his social status, he didn’t often speak like this.
