Chapter 115: Thrill of a Secret Romance
"Why must you be so delirious?" she chuckled as she lifted the towel from his forehead and gently wiped the side of his face and neck. His eyes closed for a few moments before they opened and searched for her.
"You must marry me," he commanded as firmly as he could in his current state.
"Yes, we talked about this…" she reminded him.
"Miss Yun, the doctor is on his way," Xiong Hua materialized beside her, scaring her half to death.
"Good!" she responded. Mo Qingchen had fallen back to sleep. He looked much more peaceful than before.
Her phone rang a couple of times before Xiong Hua turned to Qian Meng with a stern expression.
"Miss Yun, you have obligations. Please go to the office and finish work. I'll take care of Mr. Mo and inform you of the progress." The offer was tempting.
Looking down at the messages on her phone, she had to follow it.
"Okay, I'll leave my number with you. Please tell me when the doctor arrives and what he says." She knew the staff would take good care of Mo Qingchen.
And then she remembered why she had been calling Mo Qingchen in the first place. "They don't let ride-hailing cabs into the community, do you know how I can get out?"
With Mo Qingchen unconscious, she couldn't just ask for the keys to his car. That seemed rude.
Xiong Hua frowned. "I'm not sure, ma'am. I don't think it is safe for you to take a cab with the current situation, either." So, the staff knew who she was.
Qian Meng sighed. "I'll call Li Min to pick me up," she groaned. That would take another couple of hours in the least.
"Mr. Mo wouldn't mind if you took his car for the day." The woman spoke meekly. Qian Meng raised her brow.
"He might throw a fit if I took it without his consent, but I'll be back before dark, so if you don't tell him, he won't find out."
The conspiracy was in place, so Xiong Hua unashamedly brought the car keys over and gave it to Qian Meng.
"I won't get into an accident, I promise," Qian Meng winked. She went on her merry way, traversing through traffic with the music blaring. There was a different sort of satisfaction driving Mo Qingchen's car.
At the entrance to the private car parking to her company building, the guard stopped her. He hadn't seen her, so she rolled the window and peered out.
"Miss Yun. What happened to your car?" the elderly gentleman asked.
She gave him a polite smile. "It broke down." The conversation was short-lived and Qian Meng parked in her designated spot before going into her office.
The media people lounging outside her building didn't catch wind of her entering because they didn't see her car. All this while, she had strutted in driving Mo Qingchen's car.
She stepped into the office and the eyes on her were many. Even her employees avoided her just a little. She paid them no attention as she boarded the elevator and scrolled through her phone to look at the comments on social media.
Ugly and vile, of course.
"Did the police call on me as of yet?" she asked.
Li Min raised her head, surprised. "How did you get in without alerting the media?" she asked, astounded.
"I brought another car," she shrugged.
"And you didn't even get out of your hotel…" Li Min trailed off. Qian Meng shrugged.
"I guess I turned into a ninja. What can I say?" She didn't know why she hid it, but it felt sneaky of her to do so. It would be more explosive when Mo Qingchen and she walked hand in hand in front of others. Nothing was more thrilling than a secret romance for the gossiping people of the world.
"Yes, the police couldn't reach you at the hotel so they called me. I've informed Li Jun, he will be arriving at the police station when you tell him to," she announced.
"Okay, I'll just go through the meetings I have scheduled until twelve-thirty in the afternoon. Cancel the rest of the meetings and work for today."
Li Min blinked. "The questioning at the station won't take more than an hour, though?" It came out more as a question than anything.
"I know. I have something going on today," she admitted softly. "I'll make my statement and then return."
She was about to go into her room before she paused and turned to look at Li Min again. "Will you be surprised if I get married?" she asked.
Li Min arched her brow. "Boss, it depends on who you are marrying," she said hesitantly. "If it is a money-grabber or Bai Ye Qing, I will probably kidnap you and keep you confined until I can put some sense into you."
A small smile played on Qian Meng's lips. "You would risk going to jail to save me from a bad marriage?" she asked, entertained.
Li Min scoffed. "I don't want to have more work on my hands when you get divorced, ma'am." She mulled over something. "At least sign a prenuptial agreement that says they will get nothing during the marriage except for a monthly pocket money of five-thousand dollars or something."
Qian Meng burst into laughter. "No one would marry me with that little a temptation," she confessed.
Li Min shrugged. "You have a dreadful temper, but a man who loves you wouldn't be looking at the money he got. Maybe he would like your temper, too." She smirked.
Qian Meng rolled her eyes. "I might just get married to spite you."
"As long as you give me a bonus and a vacation, I won't say no." The smile on Li Min's face imitated that of the Chesire Cat.
"Great. I'll be out in five minutes. Tell the executives that everything will go according to schedule for the first half." She nodded and then headed in. After carefully placing her things on her desk, she ventured out.
