Chapter 148: Dont Pay the Miserable Beggar Attention
The green light came on and Qian Meng was off again.
"You're not going to pick up the call?" Mo Qingchen asked after a few minutes.
"I can't see any reason why he would call me apart from scream at me," she chuckled.
"Well, if he keeps calling you, you won't get to pick up any other calls. Your phone will show that you are busy," he countered.
"Well, I only want Li Min or Li Jun's phones to come through. Put it on," she said with finality.
Mo Qingchen chuckled and within another second, the call came in. He picked it up and immediately, he heard Bai Ye Qing speak.
"You've finally picked up, bitch?" the other said. His voice held malice. There was no other word to describe the hatred in his voice. Qian Meng straightened in her seat, suddenly a flash from her memory coming back to her.
'What the hell?' she thought uncomfortably.
Neither Mo Qingchen nor Qian Meng spoke. The sudden shock rendered them speechless. They didn't know what they had expected.
Mo Qingchen's memory of the man had made him out to be this small-willed man who would crawl on his knees to get what he wanted. He could kill, but he didn't sound like the sort of man who would courageously speak to others.
Yun Qian Meng, on the other hand, felt a blackness at the pit of her stomach. Her eyes moved from the phone screen to the road in front and she took a silent breath.
"What? You're not going to speak now? Might as well do it now that you have picked up the phone," he called her out.
Qian Meng looked at Mo Qingchen, willing him to speak on her behalf.
"Don't call again," Mo Qingchen said without blinking, his eyes fixed at her. He hung up and turned the phone downwards. "He hates you," he commented.
"As he should," Qian Meng stopped him.
"You are staying at my house tonight," he said with finality.
"What? Why?" she asked, flabbergasted.
"I am not allowing you to stay at the hotel tonight," he was firm. "Bai Ye Qing's voice just now? Yeah, there is no way I am letting him get close to you when he is seething with rage. And his mother is equally weird," he breathed.
"And you don't trust the employees your family's hotel employs?" she teased.
"I don't trust anyone, Qian Meng," he pressed. "Moreover, you said you would slowly move in once this scandal was over. So, you should do good on your end of the bargain and start moving in," he declared.
"I don't have clothes with me right now," she whined.
"Don't be a baby. We can buy a pair of clothes for you, okay?" he concluded. "You bought me a new wardrobe, I suppose I should reward you for your performance, too!" Now he turned more encouraging.
Qian Meng looked at him suspiciously. "Is this your new approach to persuade me?" she asked coquettishly. "You want me to move in so that you can train my twitching hip?" she goaded on further.
"If that is what gets you living under my roof, you can believe it," he accepted readily, even though his eyes heated.
"Evil scoundrel," she grumbled under her breath.
She pulled up in front of the hotel and waved the valet over. "I'll be down in a few minutes," she told him nonchalantly. Mo Qingchen pulled out from the other side, his long legs helping him reach her side without effort. He matched his steps with hers, waving off the employees who came over to greet him.
The female employee who had seen Mo Qingchen complete her nightly skincare routine breathed in relief.
'Finally, these two got together,' she thought.
Qian Meng was done packing a small bag of her clothes when her phone pinged. She wouldn't have paid it attention if not for Mo Qingchen growling.
"This man doesn't know when to stop," he hissed. He pulled the phone up and showed Qian Meng's face to it to unlock the phone. "I'm going to give him a piece of my mind," he said finally.
"Hold your horses, macho man," Qian Meng chuckled. "Don't pay the miserable beggar attention," she drawled.
He huffed and looked at the messages. They were voice messages. Unable to rein in his curiosity, he started to play them one by one. The air in the room froze as Mo Qingchen grew tenser.
"It's ridiculous how things have become, haven't they Yun Qian Meng? If you had kept your trap shut and just gotten married like everyone wanted you to, none of this would have happened. The whole feminist movement has made men the bad guys, when in reality it's the women who are making this world unliveable." That was only the first message.
"You never experienced harassment. It is all bullshit to make me look bad. And you know what? I'll show you what harassment is. You don't appreciate a good guy when you meet one." And he laughed. It sounded so twisted that Qian Meng's face scrunched up in disgust.
"I will take this opportunity to educate you about the reality of the world. Your money doesn't make you any less inferior than before. The security? It's all in your head. You thought I was a nice guy so you walked all over me, didn't you?" He cursed in the third.
"I was a perfect gentleman to you and I tried to explain my choices and wanted to spend time with you. But you behaved like the Virgin Mary, treating me like a threat who was out to get you. You'd not have made me angry if you didn't have such negative energy. But now… look at you. You accused me of being a cheater and a scumbag and you were spreading your leg to make all that money, right?"
"What? Will you change your mind if I showed you my junk? I am sure you would. And to think you would give me a cheque with that filthy money…"
