Chapter 353: Do Anything to Get a Glimpse of You
Oh god. He had said that she was his very reason for living.
Still, Qian Meng knew that she had to tell him right away. She had to tell him that she was in love with him even if it paled in comparison to what he had shared with her. And she had to do it in person.
She put the paper down and scrambled across the bed to get to her phone, where it was charging on the nightstand. She ripped the cord out and let it fall away as she hopped off to the bed and went to dial for Mo Qingchen's cell.
She paced back and forth anxiously in front of the French doors that led out to the balcony while she waited for him to answer the call. It rang a couple of times and just when she was about to scream from frustration that he might not answer, he picked up.
"Good afternoon, baby," he answered smoothly, his voice caressing her whole body even over the phone. "I was going to call you because you hadn't called. But I didn't want to interrupt your time with my sister."
"Why did you make me wait until I was alone to open that gift?" she barked at him immediately. "You should have let me open it yesterday, in front of you, so that I could read it with you… So that I could…"
"Baby, calm down." He laughed. "You already opened it, then? You were so eager and missed me?"
She hadn't meant to attack him. That wasn't her plan. But just on hearing his voice, it all spilled out.
"I opened and read it… Mo Qingchen…"
He was quiet for a moment.
"Is that a good thing?" he asked apprehensively.
"A good thing?" Qian Meng scoffed, finding it incredulous that he could even ask such a thing. "I need to know if you are done with work for the day. Are you really busy?" she asked.
He made a confused noise.
"I need to know if I can take the fastest route to get wherever you are right now. I need to know if you have time to see me. I don't want to be a wedge while you are working. So, tell me quickly."
"Well," he laughed. "I guess that is a good thing."
Her heart constricted in her chest. He wasn't understanding and she couldn't express how she was feeling or thinking at that moment.
She sprinted to the bed and heard him breathe as she opened her laptop and opened the search engine.
"Mo Qingchen, you don't understand. I need to get on a flight to you. Right now."
He was quiet for another moment.
She typed out the information and searched for the commercial flights available.
"Are you serious?" he asked right now.
"Mo Qingchen, I am shaking. I am dead serious." She groaned in frustration. This time, a longer moment of silence ensued. "All the immediate flights are fully booked and the only ones available are the ones tomorrow. What the hell?"
"Hold on a second." She paused her fingers over her keyboard and listened to some bustling on the other end. And then there was the sound of the door closing. Qian Meng hoped that she hadn't caught him in a meeting or something.
Damn it, she should have just texted him. Why didn't she contain her emotions better?
"Do you seriously want to come here right now?"
"Yes, I need to see you."
"Qian Meng…" She could hear the uncertainty and surprise in his tone. "I'm only here until tomorrow morning. I don't have a lot of time free t—"
"I don't care," she cut him off. "I don't mind if I have five minutes with you. I just need to see you. If you are busy, I'll just fly to you and wait until you are free to see you. Just a glimpse is fine, okay?"
She heard the determination in her own voice and was sure that was the thing that made him linger in his silence. It was completely understandable that she had caught him off guard.
In moments like this, Qian Meng really wanted to have a personal jet at her beck and call. As soon as the idea sparked, Qian Meng shot a message to Li Min from her laptop.
"Oh. I don't think I am giving you the reaction you are looking for," he responded eventually. "I just wasn't expecting this conversation. I am taken aback."
"I am already trying to get any possible vehicle. Do you have a way to get me there or should I just start walking to you?" she asked.
She heard him exhale and she could picture the gleam in his eye as he released the small laugh.
"I…" She could hear the wheels turning in his mind. "Okay. I'll hang up. I have to make a phone call and see if I can figure out something to get you to me quickly. I will call you right back, alright?"
Qian Meng shuddered. "Who are you going to call?" she asked.
"I'll try to arrange a private flight for you. I have to check with my dad and family to see if anyone is using it and if we have a pilot ready to take the trip."
She calmed down. "Okay."
"Don't you have any commitments?"
"None. My schedule is clean for you," she answered boldly. She might need to take a call or two, but that didn't mean she would sit at home and wait for it. She could very well do it while she was beside Mo Qingchen.
"You must have had plans—"
"Mo Qingchen, I literally don't care about anything else right now."
He must have heard the resolution in her voice because he didn't argue further after that.
"I will call you back shortly," he said finally.
"I'll pack my bag."
And she did exactly that after she disconnected the call. She rushed around the bedroom and bathroom as she packed a quick bag, just for the night. She didn't put much thought into what she packed because she didn't plan on stepping a foot outside Mo Qingchen's hotel room once she got there.
