“I was in a hurry and many things here aren’t the way I’d like them to be, so please bear with me. Anyway, forget how this bar looks. Looks don’t matter. What matters right now is that this bar belongs to me.The security system here is top-notch. No one would be able to get in and interrupt us. Even the best software brains in the city, would need a minimum of four hour to be able to crack the security code. Unless your saviour has a military tank at his disposal. Tell me, what do you think we should do, with so much time in hand?”
If there were a knife handy, Shangguan Ning would definitely stab it into Jing Yiran, without hesitation.
Yet she knew she had nothing to use as her defence. Her body broke into a cold sweat. She awaited her fate as Jing Yiran carried her to the bar.
It was two o’clock in the morning but the bar was still very lively. Men and women, dressed provocatively, were dancing in each other’s arms, on the dance floor.
Maybe because he and his family members had lived in isolation in their personal villas, Jing Yiran preferred noisy and crowded places. He detested peace and quiet. He found a sofa, close to the bar and threw her on it.
He snapped his fingers and soon a hot girl, wearing a bunny costume, arrived with cocktails.
Next to the cocktails there was a small red pill.
Jing Yiran dropped the pill into the glass. The pill soon dissolved and disappeared in the red cocktail.
This cocktail was a blood red one, called Bloody Mary. Shangguan Ning thought how apt it was, for a pervert like Jing Yiran, to choose a drink that looked like this.
Jing Yiran placed a glass of wine in front of Shangguan Ning. Seeing that she hadn’t even had a sip from it, he pulled out a ring from the pocket and put it on the table, in front of them.
Shangguan Ning frowned, wondering what Jing Yiran was up to now.
She picked up the ring and took a closer look at it. Just as she was about to put it away, Jing Yiran snatched it from her. She leaned across for it, but he was too fast for her.
With Shngguan Ning in his arms, Jing Yiran knew that she was now at his mercy . He stretched his arms to wrap them around her soft and slender waist.
He clutched onto the ring tightly and asked her, “You want it, don’t you?”
Shangguan Ning nodded and replied softly, “Yes!”
If she was not mistaken, that ring belonged to her mother, Huang Liyu. It was her wedding ring. She had been wearing it all through her life. She never removed it.
Somehow, the necklace and the ring disappeared, soon after she passed away.
How could Jing Yiran get his hands on the ring as well?
She had been looking for them for ages and had replayed the events of that day innumerable times, in her mind. Yet, she had failed to find any clues that may have led her to them. In a matter of just two days, Jing Yiran had been able to give her both.
Jing Yiran pointed out at the glass of wine and ordered, “Put the wine to my lips, so I may drink it. Do that and the ring is yours.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t hesitate. She picked up the wine glass and put it to his lips.
Jing Yiran picked up his cell-phone and clicked a selfie of them. He smiled wickedly, when he saw the picture and sent it out immediately.
Jing Yichen had no time to look at his cell phone that kept flashing, showing an incoming message that had just been received. He was driving at such a high speed that it was impossible for him to take his eyes off the road. Mu Qing, who was sitting beside him, thought that the message may be important. He checked the message and was so shocked to see it that he almost dropped the cell phone.
Jing Yichen was pre-occuppied but asked,”What is it?”
“Well…… you’d better look at it yourself,” said Mu Qing, passing the cell-phone to him.
Ing Yichen couldn’t believe his eyes. The picture was clear and well taken. Shangguan Ning was in Jing Yiran’s arms. He held her possessively, around her slender waist. They sat intimately, on a sofa. Shangguan Ning was looking well and at ease. She held a glass of wine in her slender hands and had put the glass to Jing Yiran’s lips.
The neon light of the bar was shining upon them both, making the ambience look dreamy and beautiful.
Jing Yiran’s grip around the steering wheel tightened. The veins seemed to pop out of his forehead. The tension in the car had reached breaking point.
Controlling his impulse of smashing the cell-phone, Jing Yichen stepped on the accelerator and sped the car even more.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Shangguan Ning instantly tried to grab Jing Yiran’s cell-phone, seeing that he had clicked a picture of them and may misuse it later.
She was sick at the moment, but even if she were perfectly fine, she was no match for Jing Yiran, whose mind was two steps ahead of hers.
After he was done fidgeting with his cell phone, Jing Yiran tossed it aside casually. He picked up the glass of Bloody Mary and took a sip from it.
“Okay, I just did as you wanted. Now give me the ring.”
“Hahaha, my Beauty, don’t you know what a ring signifies? A ring signifies a proposal of love! Are you urging me to propose to you? As far as I know, you are already married. Being married, twice over, is illegal! So get a divorce, before asking me for the ring.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t expect him to back out from his word. She said furiously, “You just said that if I put the glass of wine to your lips, you would give me the ring. Did you just lie to me??”
Seeing her irritated like a little kitten, Jing Yiran heart craved for her even more. He pinched Shangguan Ning’s exquisite chin, with force.
He said shamelessly, “I asked you to feed me the wine from your mouth to mine. Not from a glass. What you did, doesn’t count.”
Shangguan Ning was so angry that she slapped Yiran, across his face.
The imprint of her palm, was clearly visible on his face.
Jing Yiran froze.
No one had ever slapped him, even when he was little. No one had dared to!
Jing Yiran stared at Shangguan Ning in disbelief and if looks could kill, Shangguan Ning wouldn’t be alive.
Shangguan Ning stared back at him, refusing to back down.
Her eyes were full of tears. They trickled down her cheeks and they wouldn’t stop. She was sad and desperate, all at once.
Her mother’s last memory was right there, in front of her, within her reach but she was unable to get it. How would she ever find out the truth about her mother’s death, if things continued this way.
She felt helpless!
Shangguan Ning’s tears had a strange effect of Jing Yiran. He had seen many women cry before, but he had never felt this way about any of them.
He felt pain, as if his heart were breaking.
Why did it hurt him when in fact, he was the one inflicting the pain?
Could all this be a side effect of the cocktail he just drank?
Jing Yiran ignored his feelings as of now. He had more important tasks to handle. He pointed at the other glass of wine and said, “Let me make it easier for you. Drink this glass of wine and I will give you the ring. How does that sound?”
