Shangguan Ning thought that Zhao Anan was surprised, so she consoled her instantly. “Don’t worry. He may be injured right now and can’t do anything bad at the moment. He may not look for you so don’t worry. Yichen will surely catch him.”


  But her consolation did not work. With a bitter face, Zhao Anan said regretfully, “Oh, my dear sister-in-law, what you don’t know is that when we were on blind date that day, I had no idea who he was. So I put a blade on his neck, and tried to rob him!”

  Zhao Anan found it to be a good idea, so she wiped her tears in an exaggerated manner. “You are a good sister-in-law. I was right to hook you up with my cousin. Noone else would be concerned about me like you are.”


  Shangguan Ning raised her eyebrows. “Ha? So I was a part of your plan? Bah, Zhao Anan, I don’t want to be your friend anymore!”


  Hearing that she had used the wrong words, she kept moving her hand over Shangguan Ning’s arm and forced herself to smile sweetly and shyly. “Don’t! My command over Chinese was never good. Don’t take my words so seriously!”


  Shangguan Ning was joking. She could never be angry at Zhao Anan. She changed the topic and started asking her about her life as the principal.

  “Is it better to be a principal than a teacher?”


  Zhao Anan said passionately, “Of course being a teacher is better. It is just a matter of giving lectures. Everything apart from invigilating a class and grading papers is great!”


  Shangguan Ning laughed. It seemed that without comparison, she would never have realized how happily she had lived earlier.

  Zhao Anan used to complain about being a teacher when she had to face so many students. She did not like seeing such a huge crowd, so she always got annoyed when she got interrupted by some students.

  Now that she was finding her previous days to be relaxing, it meant that she was under huge pressure at the moment.

  “Of course a teacher has less work load, but haven’t you forgotten that we as teachers can get fired whenever the principal gets annoyed? We have no rights to do anything. I think that being a principal is better, because you can fire anyone!”


  Zhao Anan, of course, had not forgotten about it. She nodded her head. “Yes, yes, I have great power now. Many people come to my doorstep with presents. Min was a bastard! He could have kept us back then easily. But he fired us, instead. That damned man deserves to die!”


  Zhao Anan’s superior living style made sure that she never liked any of the presents given to her, but that did not mean that everyone could be like her, turning down the presents.

  Principal Min must have accepted expensive presents back then, so as to fire them without hesitation.

  Shangguan Ning also missed being a teacher, because that was the rare period of peace after she came back from the foreign country. That was also when she got to know Zhao Anan and Jing Yichen.
